That car is absolutely beautiful, all it needs is a nice exhaust to hear that V8 a little bit more. But the car is one of the best S class you can buy, its not about power and speed it’s about comfort and elegance.

When you start the car from cold, you can hear the exhaust, especially from outside, a real V8 sound, but then it quietens when warm, or below 1000 rpm. Plus the car is designed to be quiet. When it debut in N. America in 2015, it was the quiet car available! Double glazed windows, sound insulation galore and even the trunk did not have a pass through as it was heavily insulated and any opening would have defeated that purpose. It’s a grand tourer, not a sports car!

Absolutely one of the best coupe's produced ever. The S63 &65 have as standard the ride control system that uses radar to detect the roadway conditions ahead and adjust the suspension for optimum ride quality and comfort. This optional on the 550, but how cool.os that bit of tech. Nice review.

Hello, I like your passion for the S class coupé. I have the S550 (Canada ) with the 4.7 litre engine. I am confused, the car you are you reviewed has the AMG Panorama grill ( from 2018), the AMG exhaust and the seats have the AMG pattern, not the designo pattern. Even the steering wheel is an AMG, but the engine is not!

@@zzkatakuri4438 thank you, but in N. America, you can get the AMG appearance package. The car he is reviewing has the AMG exhaust ( not in a package), the seat pattern is an AMG only, the steering wheel is not on the AMG appearance package. That car is an AMG car except for an AMG engine. It’s been clone to be an AMG with everything an AMG would come with except the engine. ( and the newer Panamara grill from 2018 on a 2015-2017 car). Maybe in Europe you can get a base car and buy extra parts to make it am AMG. The seats alone would be thousands, as well as the exhaust. The appearance package was an option in the USA for about $6000, but standard in Canada as the car was priced $35000 more with more equipment and the exchange rate. I saw someone in 2016 who had a S430 ( 6 cylinder and short wheel base 4 door) who cloned everything on the outside to “look” as an AMG 63. Any expert would laugh at the car and wasted money. Like going to China or Turkey and buying a fake handbag in a C quality ( there is the A quality, the best copy and C the worst).

@@viezezionist it depends how you drive. If you are careful ( mine is a 4 matic ), you can get it down to 9.5 litre per 100. But that is a lot of constant speeds and coasting and not hater faster 110km. Most will not drive that way with this engine…..lol. Plus even 110 km feels slow with this car! Are you planning on buying one.

I too live in Canada, Toronto, and you explained it all perfectly. I knew this car was not what it seemed for our market.. It's not even close to what you find here in the same badging. It's the AMG grill and exhaust that gives it away instantly. Great post, thanks Canuck.

That front gril is not original from that model, also the weels are 20 not 21 and makes pain see you closing the door like that after all that car have soft closing system. Ps-the cabrio is even better ;-)

It would be so much better without that aftermarket grill… it only works on the amg models it was actually designed for
