My Name is Max and I film while driving cars. No matter if they are old, fast, loud or electric. They need to be special! With several onboard cams, I record everything important to show you High-Speed-Runs, Acceleration tests ( 0-100 kph / 0-200 kph / 100-200 kph / 200-300 kph ) and test drives on German Autobahn or Road. Please note, Germany is the country of "no speed limit" highways. So in some places, it's allowed to drive very fast. But please don't try this if you are not an experienced driver !! I loved how these were so understated, especially given that the smallest engine option was a 5 litre V8, along with all of that luxury. Most people didn't really know what they are looking at, it really was a special car for those in the know...

They are great cars, but keep in mind they are 15 plus year old luxury cars with a lot of stuff that can break. A buddy of mine had around 12k€ of repairs during 1 Year of Ownership of his Cl500, even though his car was pretty well kept when he bought it.

@@cycu0409 same with mine. Cost $6500 but needed new rear hub new A.C. compression pump new belts tensioners and pullies. Bout to swap out the ABC as well. 2500 USD should have it up and running how I want it to!

Robert Jensen I own a cl55 AMG and it’s better quality then 90 percent of cars. It’s a total spaceship for the money and boy I’m scared about my suspension

@@alexjaffebil I own a cl500 had a pump replacement was about €1450 total (new not remanufactured) make sure to flush system with pentosin and replace filters! Oil must be super clean

These are really value for money cars nowadays, the motor and transmission are bulletproof on these the bad things are the SBC brake pump system, Air-matic and if you need to put new brakes on any Mercedes that has a bigger motor than a V6 its gonna set you back a hefty sum.

@Stimpy&Ren I know about the reprogramming but mine was totally done an needed to be changed. I had my E320 for three years and loved it, traded it in 2017 for a Mercury Grand Marquis. But I am planning on getting a CL 500 or 600 (without the bi turbos).
When I see this, I instatnly thinking about GZUZ :D

20 years later this car still looks better than some of the "modern" mercedes designs. An absolute classic, it was an instant love seeing it as the safety car back in 2000

@@blyat5298 Vorausschauendes Fahren ist aber auch nicht jedermanns Sache. Und man gibt auch nicht Volllast auf den Vordermann, wenn das ein Lieferwagen ist, durch den man nicht hindurchsehen kann. War sowieso dumm bis dahin die ganze Nummer.

Wär schön das mal mit einem zu machen, bei dem der Auspuff nicht kaputt ist.
The only thing that puts me off the CL 500, that I had the pleasure to may move for some time, is that Mercedes built the most possible expensive (Gewindefahrwerk) suspension into it. It is an actively adjusting suspension based on an high oil pressure system and electronic sensors with a tiny computer that keeps moving a standard spring suspension. That ABC is perfect until it stops working and even the Mercedes official workshop won't just exchange the sensor, but either the entire pump or suspension part. That's easily 1500 Euros and there are no kits available to exchange the suspension to e.g. standard Bilstein gas shocks or downgrading the system to a passive Citroen Hydropneumatic like system that actually inspired the development of the Mercedes system a decade earlier when both where still competing the the "smoothiest ride possible" category. Sad...the V8, gearbox, space and design is beautiful and with all windows down is almost a convertible....

@@richardrel5890 And that is 1.500 each time standard, while possibly only the a-few-buggs sensor was done, because that one catches all the shocks where it must be build in. Merc fans might wanna crucify me for that suggestion, but I think the system could be downgraded to a Citroen DS passive like suspension having pretty much the same ride quality, but not a " Finanzieller Totalschaden" ever time the sensor needs some love.

@@richardrel5890 If you like the kick as in agility you might wanna try a six cylinder turbo on a rally track. The CL is the perfect GT as grand tourismo like in long distance travel. It is a super relaxed cruiser on both high speed Autobahn and wider country side roads doing distance in comfort. All windows down and roof window open is convertible feeling, but with a coupe safety. Just the pimp image sucks big time, everybody wonders if your girl payed for it... #ihateyou

I think the US firm HIRO Performance makes what you’re looking for. You can search for the model no. HPMB1602JP. Also, Strutmasters does a conversion kit too, but I’ve read that the HIRO one is better.

@@MikeMunday222 The hydraulic suspension is fine so long as the system is serviced every couple of years. Coilovers ruin the ride and handling of these cars.

German/Austrian TUV inspections are required and very rigorous from what iv heard.
