BMW believe me or nothing but junk they have too many problems? You buy a Mercedes and there's nothing you can do to hurt them unless you abuse him. I understand if you're stupid you know flooring it all the time when it's sitting still and going around in circles that's stupidity that cars. Were never made? For that? I'm right there with you, dude. That car is part of my favorite Benz bodies. And those AMG's just looked so aggressive. Though not an AMG, I had a family member that had a 420 SEL. I LOVED that car. Especially when you're 21. It got 'em looking, if you know what I mean, lol.

Nikolaus Klaus It understeers a lot on the road, and the powerband is too narrow - it's laggy below 4000 rpm and demands an upshift at just over 6000 rpm. And the shift paddles have far too much delay. And for that price, oh boy.

Nikolaus Klaus I test drove a CLA 250 which will be along the lines of the A Class and it was horrid. Very harsh ride, noisy cabin, cheap sounding doors when you close them, cheap materials and it's FWD. A proper Benz will be a C Class and up because they're solid and good riding/handling cars. The CLA, GLA and A don't represent the badge properly.

mattpearce84 Then you obviously haven't drive other Benzes. You might not like the look of older MBs and they're not for everyone but there's no denying those cars actually do everything MB intended to do with their cars. The A, B, CLA and GLA are just there to attract more buyers into cheap leases which adds to the company's bottom line. For anyone who appreciates what these cars actually do they'd go with a C Class or higher and understand just how amazing the cars of old were. Remember if it wasn't for the success of the older cars the cars of today wouldn't exist.

mattpearce84 you have obviously never driven an old 80s Mercedes. at that time no other car brand could compete with Mercedes. the new A and CLA are shit compared to this Mercedes SEC. now its all about C, E, S, CLS, and of course the G-class.

Within the last 12 months I've probably watched this 12 times. This is such a beauty of a vehicle.

I've watched it about 4 times in the past hour. It inspired me to find this 1991 Mercedes 560 SEC in my area for $6000. I'm thinking about it and getting the kit and starting to for my new project car and then blacking it out to look just like the one in the video. It's such a sexy car.

Thank you all for the compliments, I enjoy reading them all :) For those that keep saying that this is not a real AMG, that I converted it with fake badges n shit 8 yrs ago, do you have a hard time understanding my "plain" English or do you lack knowledge of Mercedes & AMG history? First of all, all Pre-Merger AMG cars (pre 1992 before AMG was taken over by MB) ARE conversions. They would leave theMB factory as plain cars, then those who had money and desire would have AMG, or their certified shops around the globe, do the midifications, additions, conversions etc. So now you understand what AMG conversion means. And for those that keep saying this or that is fake or done by me. This car was CONVERTED into an AMG back in 1989 by Beverly Hills Motoring (the only certified AMG dealer in LA back then). All the chrome black out, badging, wheels, bodykit, engine mods, suspention mods was done then and there. The only change I have done is the dual exhaust because the original AMG muffler was tired anyways. This car still has its original AMG dealer plate frames and car cover. So all of the non believers, haters or whatever, this car is as authentic PRE-MERGER AMG as the Corolla you wish you never got!

wow...his dad got Merc in 80s, and in eastern europe clearly shows that his father should be rich to say the least, but I was surprised how down to earth and sincere owner of this merc is, most people who's fathers had mercedes in 80s are extremely arrogant and talk down to people, but this guy seems to be very friendly and not bragging. It's faster too. AMG claimed 270kph and while this seems a bit grand, with 380 something bhp it can certainly do 260... Which is more than the modern AMG.

no........... the sec 560 6.0 amg have 25 ps more.......... 385 PS / Hammer have 6.0 amg with 360 PS. König tuning buy a Kompressor for over 20000 euros for the sec 560 and you have over 400 Ps in the sec 560.

Terrific car. Once I saw Patrick Swayze drive one in Roadhouse, I was hooked. The classic lines of the SEC are timeless. Its sexy and aggressive without being overstated and the AMG of yours just enhances it. Would love to have one. The Benzos of the 80s were the pinnacle of MB in my opinion. Still largely hand-built cars that were built like Sherman tanks. Cars like the SEC and even the 190 are still timeless in their looks.

You're not alone. The 1980s Benzes struck a good balance between cutting-edge tech and reliability. Since the 2000s, we've seen MBs as being over-engineered--unnecessarily complicated. Hell, even the nomenclature is complicated.

+ElectricFederal I am with you , I don't think we can even compare anything else that ever came after this 560SEC... This is way ahead of its time and it will be for a long time , V8 DOHC similar to the 427 SOHC from the shelby Cobras AC the Ford GT40 that won GP of Le Mans in 1966 in 1,2 and 3 places they also had this sort of OHC .., all the best awesome car .

Yes I remember it well in the car, my parents had the 500 SEC AMG that was in 1984 to 89 .. (Then they bought the 500 SL). Our SEC was also black, but he had bright 15 hole drop center rims, no sports exhaust and no spoilers, but otherwise he was also lowered and had the front, sides and rear aprons. I myself drove the 600 CL / 6.9 liter V12 Brabus from 95 to 98 ... Those were the good old days!

watched this video at least 20 times, it makes the SEC so much more desirable. One of my most favorite classics

That beast just radiates menace, I mean that front end just projects "get the fuck out of my way." Absolutely the perfect hitmans car. Truly awesome, the absolute top of the tree from the days when AMG really meant properly special...

Somehow i go and watch this video again and again. It might take a year between i watch it but somehow it creeps forward in my mind and reminds me to watch it again.

i had a 260 w124 sportline, with some amg specs, and it was an unbelievable feeling to drive that car, comfort, the sound, the everything. i miss it....

I love 80s and 90s German cars! This one is stunning.

I became an admirer of AMG because of the TV show "Miami Vice". I agree the AMG of today is not the same as back in the 80s. AMGs are everywhere nowadays. They used to be much more exclusive back in the Grey Market days.

+Shaiyan Hossain (The Doctor) just like m for Bmw and RS for Audi. it sells so why would they not use the opportunity? still, if you compare a c 450 with the AMG badges to a real c 63 AMG, you'll understand just how different these cars are.

Much respect, it is difficult to mod a classy classic car without ruining it, you have done a great job. It is true what you said about driving older Mercedes, I was a BMW fan for a long time, till I bought a 1983 w123 230E. I fell head over heals in love with older Mercedes. I now own a beautiful 1990 Merceds Benz 300E-12

I agree with you there is just something about how these old cars feel. I have a w124 and i swear i have not ever driven a car that rides the same way. These New plastic cars have no soul, they all feel the same. Cheap compared to the w124. Mines a 300D and even in that slow rock, i have way more fun than in a new car. 420 000 miles still going strong! Man i love that car. My dream is a 2.3 16v baby benz. Iv always liked the look of them, maybe ill buy 1 one day.

The W124 is one of the plastic cars. All plastic bumpers and plastic interior. The newer cars have more leather. Older than 1980, they have chrome bumpers, but the truth is the new aluminum bumpers that are hiding under the plastic are way stronger than the chrome.

I still own a W116. It had an ugly interior that looked cheap compared to the cheapest Dodge Neon. I ripped it out and replaced with new leather and alcantara.

Jose Costa W201 and W124 are built identical to new cars, only less electronic equipment. So it is not better or worse, just the same.

The intro music so perfectly matches the 8-bit era this car was born in. 0:36 is perfect.

The SEC still just kills it 3 decades later. It still lords over everything else on the road. Now AMG adds in it's wizardly and I kid you not there are no words to describe the sensation you get when you see it.

This car reminds me of Miami Vice with Crocket and Tubs, the drugs lords drove these cars with the Porsche 911's. Back then a 3rd braking light was illegal in Europe and the american versions had them also with the bigger bumper with the red and orange light on the sides. The 80's....good memories!

One of my favorite cars back in the 80s. Almost all of the SEC AMGs back then in Germany had an anthrazit met. (grey) painture. Nice to see one in black though =)
