The glue is sadly one of the few Werkstors of this car😕, but overall I’m just utterly satisfied with my example. You can just feel that Mercedes let the engineers do what they thought was necessary to build the best product possible. I have a 1988 2.0 190e with 129000 km and it’s still going strong. With some love and the usual maintenance these cars will stay with us for a long time.

Great video. Some of the older door cards are made of softer more porous material and they soften and crumble badly so the tops are very hard to reform. Yours look great! Good job!

Is it really the case that the older ones are more prone to this, I just thought because they were older they of course first develop the faults first? I have a 1993, and my cards are perfect, so I hope that you're right that the newer ones are more resistant!

@@KUNIQUE Well, I think it works better. I wonder if something happened, it might be possible to do it again. Especially the part closer to the window edge(from your video, I also found some part of bubbles stood out of your chemical leather), I used 1cm narrow and thin double sided tape to the edge of leather ends. I recommend to tear off the leather and use cyanoacrylate glue to make stuff brown cardboard(?) base. For my case adhesive tape does not peeled apart. Usually, brown cardboard base surface might be decomposed. I have no idea to drill my door panel :-)

Great video. I have never attempeted to fix the rearb door cards on my 190 as that area on top of the handle bar is really hard to glue it back as you showed on your video. The issue is that the vinyl shanks and and it's almost impossible to make it look factory again

Great video man! I saw you're so experienced with fixing this car, i myself got one weeks ago, i'm 25 and i don't really know much about them. My panels are exactly the same, but i would've liked to put some speakers inside the car, since it has none, and not even the radio. I've seen there's spaces to put speakers in under the windshield on the front panel, but i would've liked to put some tweeters there, maybe two mids in the front doors and rear doors and a hidden sub where the first aid kit is. Is there any way to modify the panels so that they'll accomodate those speakers you think? Or generally, would you have any other recommendations?

Hey, been following along with this build as I have an 89 2.0 I'm working on fixing, but the door panels are in way rougher condition, the wood itself has lost its shape. Any tips on reshaping the wood? Many thanks

Hi Oscar, maybe you can reshape them by using epoxy resin and fiberglass at the back of the panel. But this could lead to that the panels get to hard to put back in place. If you find the right way, I would appreciate if you could share your experience here.

Hi, would you suggest removing the entire material from the hard board? Or will it become too lumpy after gluing that way? I want to change the insert to plaid for a custom build, but I'm not exactly an arts and crafts expert.

The actual hard board on my door cards were lifting away from the rubber strip next to window I removed card and used a hand held steam gun ( the ones used for clean tiles etc)I heat up the top of card and carefully pushed it back to original position placed narrow strip of wood with G clamps laid it on a table with the G glamps hanging over the edge with some weights attached left over night and card was fitted to car much improved I them pushed some windscreen rubber locking strip between existing rubber and top of door To keep its shape Iam very pleased with result and Iam a fussy bugger

Moin Marco! Sehr gerne. Freue mich, wenn ich helfen konnte. Das ist die einzige Stelle die nicht so wirklich geklappt hat. Das ist die letzte Türpappe die ich in dem Video zeige, wo es nicht ganz ansitzt. Ich glaube diese aufgeblähten stellen bekommt man nur hin, wenn man den Stoff komplett abzieht.

Why was the end so fast? I bought a 190D and the owner didnt have the time to put the door panel in so I wanted an easy guide on how to put it back to the car 😓😓

I frigging hate these damn door cards, I saved 3 of mine, but one is absolutely hopeless. I am pretty sure someone, somewhere in the world has a bunch of these door cards and are going to realise they are sitting on a gold mine one day!

I couldn't understand what glue he is using. Please can you provide some info. Thanks!

Ah, the legendary German glue technology. They could not get a glue to stick properly since WW2's Volksjäger that killed the test pilot because it fell apart :)

Wenn ich richtig informiert bin, soll man diese Plastikfolie gar nicht rund herum zu kleben, sondern lieber an den unteren Teilen der Löcher immer ins Türinnere (Hohlraum) laufen lassen, da mit die Flüssigkeit auf keinen fall an die Türpappen kommt.
