Despite how broken 06 was, it still had a pretty solid villain, Memphis and Solaris are in my opinion very cool

Mephiles is hands down underappreciated. Mans tricked Silver into tryna kill Sonic, came back to literally haunt Shadow (Shadow's shadow), and legit managed to one shot Sonic. Idc if Sonic 06 had its flaws, Mephiles my fav character in the whole game. From his creepy theme to his convoluted plans of letting Sonice get close to Elise JUST to make her cry, he's a savage! We need another Sonic villian like this, couldve been Infinite from forces but he was too weak :p

I've been praying for a long time that Sonic Team would give 06 a chance at redemption, but at least there's PC-06 and Legacy Of Solaris.

I actually adore mephiles back in the days he was a well written character and the very first villain who actually literally with out fail killed sonic something that even eggman/robotnik couldn't / didn't even witch is why mephiles will always be my favorite villain in my heart 💜

@@God-T Not so much ... Mephiles is not a great villain and bringing him back wouldn't change a thing. Also if they bring it back they would be creating a great inconsistency with the end of Sonic 2006. Because at the end of the game it is established that when Elise and Sonic extinguished the flame of Solaris, it ceased to exist and with it Mephiles and Iblis ceased to exist, erasing in this way all the events of the game.

One thing I will say about sonic 06 was the storie and villains were pretty great, when I played I do admit it did feel like an adventure game

Mephiles isn't just a villain he is THE VILLAIN Edit: I realized something Sonic has TWO successful movies and a third one on the way and an animated show that isn't completed There are TWO ways that can bring Mephiles back: 1.Make a 4th movie based on Sonic 06(or come with their own ideas) 2. Add him in Sonic Prime Second Edit: Wow I never expected Kishimoto to talk about Mephiles He *THINKS* there is a possibility to bring him back into the franchise And with Ian Flynn as the new writer I doubt he could be ruined

The music in the 06 game is still a classic

Sonic Next Gen was the peak of the franchise, anything past 2008 isn't worth anyone's time. Mephiles was an actual threat. He was fearsome, cryptic, chaotic, and truly apocalyptic. He's what Infinite was trying so hard to be. Mephiles served in completing Shadow's character arc, Infinite was just there, like a fart in a hurricane.

Mephiles ain't gone yet... He's been confirmed to be a playable character in Sonic Forces: Speed Battle at Halloween!!

I feel like Mephiles should have been Shadow's very own transformation, and also I would love to see him fight against Infinite, or Werehog Sonic!

I've heard somewhere that there is a Mephiles, Emerl and Whisper plushies being worked on by Great Eastern, I'm also pretty sure that he's gonna be playable in Speed Battle sooner or later

Ah, yes... Good ol' Mephilis "Memphis Tennessee" the Dark

- appears in a broken game. - kills sonic. - doesn't return. What a Chad.

I distinctly remember playing 06 for the ps3 and thinking wow this bad guy is super unique. Mephiles had far more personality than the majority of sonic villains I know in the games. That creepy way of moving, twisting his head as if he never had a body and talking with no mouth, it all tied together and made a calm, cool, and collected badass that really deserves another shot. He was a villain who was only concerned with getting shit done. Which makes it impressive that shadow was able to get under his skin, it was really a defining moment for shadow reaffirming his beliefs and fighting no matter who sticks to his side. The dude was all business and didn't take any pride or accomplishment in killing sonic he was just another thing in the way of his goal. He was so awesome and respectable (y'know as a villain). So should he comeback? The answer is yes..... and no (shout out to you if you remember that scene). I do believe he should comeback for the one time and not be milked to be the villain unless they plan to make one overarching story with multiple installments with him (but let's be real, probably not), but if he never comes back at least we can still remember him fondly.

I agree that it’s best to not bring Mephiles back, yes, I love him, he’s hands down the best Sonic villain ever created, but if he was brought back, he’d just be milked down like Shadow, Knuckles, Metal, the list goes on He deserves to rest on his dark throne and know that he won’t be destroyed like the others, let him sleep in eternal darkness

I'd at least like to see Mephiles come back, just as evil and as intelligent as 06, but in a GOOD sonic game, I just want 1 Mephiles return in a good Sonic game.

I'm replaying 06 recently it's definitely flawed and broken... But honestly it's better than alot of modern games today imo

Methodist is my favorite villain his only problem is that he never interacts with Sonic nor has any personal connection to him.

Okay, other than the mephalis misspelling, if like to cover this in detail. I think having mephalis not interact with somoc until the very end of the game was actually a really solid decision. In silvers story, he manipulates silver to try to get what he wabts. Hes collected and extremely manipulative, not always needing to be in the front lines. Everything in sonics story (which the devs most likely assumed you played first because well obviously) was calculated and manipulated by mephiles and, by using silvers story to show this, you realize how everything during sonics story was just part of one elaborate plan. Idk, probably reading too much into it

Mephiles is one of my personal favorite sonic villains. It would be cool to see him again in future titles, but I think he's just fine as he is here in 06. I mean he's the only sonic villain to actually kill sonic, not in a fair way yes, but still. He did something that not even Eggman could do, and he tried numerous times.

Apparently Mephiles was planned to have clones appear in Sonic Forces, but that plan was scrapped.

The death of sonic wasn't just depressing, ad a kid this made me scared. As a kid, you always have this vision of your heros beimg unstoppable and no one could touch them, but seeing that one scene will searching through KZread absolutely scared 5 year old me.

You know Saiyan Scholar? Despite me not playing Sonic 06,but me hearing about Mephiles,and watching his story years ago *about* him just made me wondered of why they haven't brought back back this character? He's *Literally* the embodiment of evil and he's so awesome of doing it! 😃 And thx of me reading some nightmare fuel of Sonic 06 from the Tv Tropes website,it shows that in the scene where he grabs his Dark Chaos Emerald,the song is named *"Mephiles' Smile"* . So it tells us that even tho he doesn't have a mouth,he's *smiling* and him slowly turning to the camera,he's staring at *US* and *KNOWS* that we're there! 😳 Talk about powerful! 😃 That and 4th wall breaks from villains in order to freak us out...like The Joker.

They don't bring him back cuz it's Sonic 06. in SEGA's perspective, 06 does not have anything good in it (which is total BS) thats why They don't bring him back but seeing how sega handles story in Sonic games nowadays, I don't want him back.

Mephiles is by far my absolute favorite villain in the Sonic universe since he debuted in Sonic 06 voiced by the brilliant Dan Green and if Sega ever bring this character back I hope Dan will reprise his role as the voice for him thanks for sharing this 👍💜😈

If I were to bring him back I would start with a upgraded rerelease of 06 that also rewrites if possible a chunk of the story with the end showing the shadow of the flame expanding for a moment after the flame is extinguished before becoming non visible(a slight hint)

I have a theory: Solaris' two parts are heat and cold. Heat is Iblis and Cold is Mephiles. Mephiles' spikes are shaped like a snowflake, and he has a cold personality.

When you think about it, the fan character Nazo from Nazo Unleased is very similar to mephiles, but more direct and obvious instead of spooky. And also reminds me of Goku Black from DBS

Yeah the goku black arc is obviously heavily inspired (Avoided saying rip off so no one would be mad but it kind of is a rip off)

There is still hope. I could see the Sonic Movie Franchise revisiting his character for a later title.

In the early script for *Sonic Forces,* it was going to be revealed that Eggman made Replicas of Mephiles the Dark and would have used them at the Eggman Empire Fortress just prior to the final boss battle.

I agree with everything the Saiyan Scholar said about Mephiles The Dark. I hope he is brought back by fans of this character to feature as the great antagonist he once was (or villian protagonist depending on what kind of story you want to write). Just like how Christian Whitehead and his team brought back Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the squirrel back into relevancy when developing Sonic Mania.

Mephiles is my favorite Sonic Villain it's always been my dream for him to come back he has so much wasted potential to return and haunt Shadow because he's Shadow's shadow and he can't stay gone because he's immortal. My dream Shadow the Hedgehog game is Shadow Unleashed and Shadow becoming a Werehog too.

Let's not forget Mephiles introduce the Chaos Fusion technique, resulting the birth of another popular fan character, Shadic the Hedgehog from Nazo Unleashed.

Good lord his hands aren’t even connected to his arms! How unsettling can you get? I’ve known he was a terrifying villain for a long time and really wish he would come back but if the ending of 06 is to be believed, he never gets to exist in the first place. Mephiles is by far the greatest sonic villain because unlike all the other villains the only way to stop him was by erasing his existence! The best way to bring Mephiles is that he had a contingency to where he saved a small part of himself in case he failed he would be able to regenerate and recover his power His biggest advantage just like from the game no one knows who he is and what his intentions are, no telling what he will do but undoubtedly it will be whatever he pleases.

I always had so much good respect towards Mephiles, due to the fact that he is literally the only sonic villain who succeeded in killing Sonic, while Dr Egg had failed to try to kill Sonic for many years, on top of that, he's the only sonic villain to succeeded in his goals

If he was brought back, and they didn't do him well, the backlash would be immense and I think they know that.

They did the same with E-102 Gamma it was really good Even if Mephiles won't return to his throne and take his title as Sonic's murderer back, he deserves to be mentioned in some future games For instance, I am disappointed that they didn't talk about Mephiles in Frontiers I mean, if Sonic 06 timeline is deleted, then what the heck Silver and Blaze are doing in Generations?

If they make a Sonic Generations 2, but with a proper story, Mephiles would work as the new villain. He would actually have a reason to be there; in Generations the Time Eater even took parts from deleted timelines like the Bad Future where you face off against Metal, and Crisis City of course. So you could write it that the Eggmen meddling with time lets erased beings like Mephiles return. Making it a sequel he tries to play on Eggman's ego to rebuild the Time Eater so he can steal his power; taking another page out of Shadow's book. You could even go meta and have levels that were intended to use but never were be reborn.

I wouldn't want Mephilis back because i know they'll redeem him as a misunderstood hero trope like they did with Knuckles and Shadow and even Metal.

That's the thing Knuckles was never a villain, nor was Shadow.

I'd like to see a Sonic Game similar to an old gamecube title: Rayman Arena, but not just with race and combat modes but maybe with a Story mode too, and have Mephiles be the main villain of the story and a character you can unlock for race/battle after getting 100% in the game

Mephiles was a wonderful villain and someone who truly stood out in the Sonic franchise, in a way I don't think he should return though since Saga would most likely water him down and ruin his character, make him like Infinite or worse. Sonic 06 is remembered because of Mephiles and with how Saga have been going about the franchise and tarnishing popular characters like Shadow, I think they'd do the same to Mephiles if given the chance

I agree that it probably would be best to leave mephiles in the past so the impact he left doesn't change, same with dark sonic, but if done correctly it could be something epic

This goes for a lot of 1 off villains especially in Nintendo ( I know Sega and Nintendo are different companies but they tend to do similar things) Examples of great villains who get killed off and never seen again except in remakes Fawful Dark Samus Cackletta Yuga Raven Beak The Shroobs Antasma The Dark Star Dimentio King Olly Vaati Ghirahim Demise Zant Majora.

I'd say we would sooner see him in the IDW Comics somehow. I mean, the less popular a character is, the less likely SEGA force the writers to portray a character a certain way (Sonic not able to cry and Shadow downgrading to Saiyan-Namek Saga Vegeta). I mean, look how they handled the Deadly Six. Very unpopular characters in games, but they are far more fleshed out in the new comics, especially Zavok. I think games are less likely, unless they find some way to bring an alternate version of Mephelis into the games.

that's Ian actually knowing how a Sonic character Should be also he tried to bring Mephiles back twice and Sega refused so...

@@Mepphy99 Right, but that was some time ago. Now that he and his team at IDW actually have some redeemed characters under their belt, maybe Sega will at least trust them enough to test the waters for the character in the IDW comics.

with project 06 interesting fans and the idea sega has to remake some of sonic history maybe we can see a remake of sonic 06 and this time with good mechanics and less glitches, because this game was the first attempt of a sonic open world kinda game and with modern software this game could return and become easily one of the best sonic games ever made

100% agree with Mephiles being the best sonic villain. He’s so creepy and powerful and pure evil. Sonic 06 is my favorite sonic game I’m just so happy to hear you defend one of its biggest strengths with the great villain Mephiles

He did came back as a playable character in *Sonic Runners* 7:10 (Maybe do a what happen video on that?)

Mephilies was also playable in Sonic runners but Sega closed the servers of the game because it wasn't profitable enough for them. Thankfully, there's a few active fan made servers at the moment for the game. I think that there's a high chance that Mephilies will be included in Sonic forces speed battle sooner or later as well.

It has plot holes like, How the F does Duke has chaos emeralds 10 years ago or Why didn't mephiles kill Sonic himself instead of Telling to Silver but that doesn't bother me too much.

Mephiles is a great villian and I'm happy he hasn't returned because take metal sonic for example my favorite sonic villain he was great in sonic heroes but after that he was never shown in the same way again and mephiles is lucky because if Sega brought him back I don't think he could be as great and he once was

Mephiles had the same impact that Princess Shroob from M+L Partners In Time. Two heartless beings that just pure villainy.

I have a feeling Shadow will become the "new" Mephiles the Dark in future Sonic games for some reason.

Honestly, I can imagine Mephiles revamping himself after such a huge defeat. He'd probably be the only thing left of Solaris' destruction, remembering everything from the events of '06. But that information would be useless. He would be significantly weaker than his Solaris power trip, coming to a realization that he is weaker than he was, before. Total world destruction? No longer on the table. So...he'll potentially go from villainous faction to villainous faction, providing his unique assistance with his nigh-infinite army born from darkness. No playing favorites or taking things personally, just being a benefactor for villainous malice. He could slick his quills back, so he won't be mistaken for Shadow all the time, maybe make himself a nice suit to go along with the shoes. He could even have a chill yet creepy attitude in his voice, up until he's excited in the thrill of the fight. He may have the power to spam an army of personal minions, but he wouldn't be afraid to get his own hands dirty. Honestly, Mephiles has the potential to be a series type recurring boss, not just in a single game.
