Because AC is a lighthearted game with characters you've come to love. And this part in UP in infamous for the sadness of it, contradicting the lightheartedness of the game. Example, you can try to compare your sadness during your first time watching it from UP and the second time (when you've come to known the characters).

@@xianjinn people like to make up little stories and stuff with the animals that live on their islands sometimes. Sometimes pretending two characters are the village’s old married couple is kinda fun :D

It’s bad enough this scene makes me burst into tears watching the movie! This was even safer somehow! 😭 Great job capturing this scene, it was perfect! I hope next time you’ll do one where he meets Russell!

Not gonna lie, this actually made me really sad

Why the heck am I getting more emotional on this video than the original movie?! Like w h y?! Recently got into Animal Crossing, loving it so far-
