Some of my favourite parts of the Mendips, there. That cat you spotted in Ebbor Gorge is named Willow and seems to get 'renewed' every couple of years. A bit further around the corner, heading away from the Mendip Way, there's another creature to be found (or feared)... ;-) It's worth climbing up the rocky gorge path itself but on a dryer day. Woodland near the top is carpeted in bluebells in the spring. Every December, the Queen Victoria Inn is transformed in to... The Gingerbread Inn! Drawing crowds from all over! I enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing and good to see you getting on to the Mendips. All the best.

A good walk around the Mendips which is a great place for walks, although not always as muddy as you went.

Thank you for the lovely video! Well done for the combination of realtime speech and post production voice over. Can confirm it is as muddy now as when you shot your video. I just walked from Glastonbury to Ebbor Gorge and back - my first winter wildcamping, looking forward to some more local walks!

Thanks for another great walk Abbie. Glastonbury Tor really is beautiful and the whole route was a breath of very fresh air! So much history in this area and to imagine our ancestors coping with the elements as they strove on to suceed living there.

Winter is my favourite time of the year for doing these types of walk as you can see so much when there is no tree/hedge cover. Can't wait to see some new walks from the Lake District, always my favourites as I've be walking/climbing there all my life

Great walk in a lovely part of the world. The Mendips often get overlooked by loftier perches but the views over the Levels have some pretty big skies. But them I'm biased because they're my back garden!

Hi Abbie, I’m from the Mendips and did most of that walk on Sunday- although we walked towards Wells and up to the huge mast. The weather was beautiful!!! I highly recommend you come back to the Mendips and do some more, maybe in better weather 😁

I've been to ebbor gorge a lot, yeah that first gate is a nightmare for mud, they should put some concrete slabs there or something. Stockhill wood is opposite the minories, very picturesque, definitely worth a look if you're near by 🙂

That is a nice area Abbie. I can see that British walkers aren’t put off by a little mud. Too bad about the dumping. They do that in Arkansas too.

The Victoria Inn is relatively recent, bearing in mind The New Inn, which is not mentioned, is early 15th Century but has been completely ruined ( not surprising it was given a miss !) by being over developed, nothing like it was in its original state only 60 years ago. My wife and I slept there many times, tea in bed, hot water jug and basin and toilet outside at bottom of garden. The gents pub toilet was outside, at the front, just left of the pub entrance, just a gutter no roof and no flush !! Owned by Oliver and Silvester Speed, both who died in their 80s and continued by Mrs Speed and niece Phylis, until Mrs Speed died and Phylis moved to Cheddar, which must have been a great cultural shock, as she was so shy and retiring.
