It honestly is not that hard, or one can say that's a prequisite to be decent violinist? Probably not perfect and might blank out on some of the less interesting portion, but you practice so much (39 hours a day), it just became muscle memory. Hell, I still remember fingering of some of the violin pieces, and I haven't touch an instrument 3-4 years.

Her tone and clarity is just unmatched. I've gone through multiple soloists playing this piece and Hilary's interpretation is just in a leauge of its own.

I remember when my violin teacher told me I look like her (physically), and he tried to encourage me to dedicate professionally to play the violin. But I always knew violin wasn’t my instrument. Tomorrow I’m singing ‘Una voce poco fa’ with a symphonic orchestra ❤️ In the same concert a violinist will be playing this solo too. I hope everything goes on well 🤩

It sure is impressive aurally, but it’s not as hard to play as one might think. Each measure of arpeggios has the same LH position, she “just” needs to skip up and down the strings to hit all the notes.

I remember us playing this freshman year high school in the chamber orchestra. I came in as a pretty good viola player, maybe 3rd or 4th chair. The senior 1st chair violinist played this as her senior recital. I was floored, literally had no clue a high school student could be so talented. That was my first wake up call that there are levels to music talent

My dad used to play this often when I was young. He was first chair in Staten Island NY before he became a doctor. This is wonderful performance!

I'm here cause of Twoset Violin. They used this on their recent Diss track, while listening to it, this Piece got my attention, its really beautiful so I searched for it and I saw Hilary too, I got to know her on TwoSet Violin Vids.

She has the best interpretation of this piece out of everyone I've heard

Without a doubt, one of the greatest pieces in all of western music performed by one of the greatest performers of her time. So much love for this.

That violin is SMOKIN'. And she plays so effortlessly. One of the best performances of this concerto.

Her articulations are so flawless and crystal clear. This is beautiful to follow along what is in her mind as she sings with strings.

When the rhythmic theme the orchestra introduced just as the cadenza began, turns into this beautiful ostinato with really fast portato sixteenths at 9:10, and the orchestra returns is my favorite part. This is a beautiful concerto played perfectly by Ms. Hahn. 😍

She cuts through the music like a hot knife through butter. So smooth, almost effortless at times with this stoic and blissful face that would make the angels cry... I hope I can see her in person one day.

I know how talented and gifted these people are. But it really does blow my mind when I watch the notes as she plays. Friggin brilliant

I really like being able to see her playing and see the music all on the same screen. Performance is great as well.

When one can simultaneously listen the music and watching the score one admires much much more the artist and realize how much it's necessary to study and to practice to reach this level of excellency. Great super Hillary, magnificent orchestra and superb conduction by Maestro Jarvi.

The cadenza (7:33) is absolutely incredible on Hillary's violin. Besides following the score and watching her, her Divine diva figure one is pushed to the highest. Great, Hillary!!! GRANDE!!

He/She is so good at violin, they transcends the binary sexes of human and become both gender at the same time.

Always love how Miss Hahn is so compact with her movements so little wasted motion. So suave and calm and utter beauty of tone.

I was a violinist w/ the Chicago Civic Orchestra decades ago. As I look at the score along w/ her playing I was amazed. She phrased melodic lines so beautifully that weren't evident on paper. This is a truly musically gifted violinist. I also admire her expressionless stately composure on stage. She's a Michelin 2 rating violinist. I concur w/ a comment that adding a score to the video adds a new dimension of experience.

Never played a instrument in my life but just understanding how hard and how much work goes into being able to play the violin at this level leaves me in amazement. I might be wrong but I believe you have to be born to play the violin to be able to play at this level and that’s only half the battle, you have to put in years and years of work and practice.

Genes play a role. But I think an even bigger role is early exposure to music. After reading the biographies of many composers and violinists, I have noticed that so many of them had at least one musical parent. Given that neo-natology has shown that unborn babies can hear sounds, I am wondering whether this can translate into some neurological advantages for a pre-born child exposed to musical sounds, which become apparent post-birth.

This is more than having the part by memory. It's having the emotions in the sound. Both are impressive. Very talented!

To play this piece flawlessly, by memory, when the smallest finger misplacement, A slight over or under bow stressing or placement would be almost impossible to correct, is almost beyond comprehension. What a wonderful talent of execution. Bravo Ms. Hahn!

This is the best classical piece I’ve ever heard ❤, Hilary Hahn is indeed an amazing violin musician! Perhaps this composition reminds me of the book, “Perfume”…

This shows was human attainment can achieve. We are truly blessed that there are people - talented people, rarified people like Hilary (and everyone else in that orchestra too) who can reach be so creative. But what was goingon in teh mind of Mr Mendelssohn? To be imbued with the mind of a genius. Thsii is one of my most favourite pieces of music. Incredible!
