AN OVERVIEW OF THE REVOLUTION IN IRAN
The protests in Iran we are seeing today erupted in mid-September after the death of Mahsa Amini, while she was in the custody of the “morality police” for allegedly violating the country’s hijab law. Mahsa Amnini was a 22-year-old woman from the western city of Saqqez in Iran’s Kurdistan province. She was visiting Tehran with family when “morality police” arrested her for allegedly violating laws requiring women to wear a headscarf because a bit of her hair was showing. Women and youth have been leading the protests, demanding social freedom and political change, gender equality and the end of the state’s regime.
The government has deployed violent tactics against protestors and have even conducted raids on university campuses and high schools. Crowds have continued to gather in defiance of the authorities even as the government recently pledged harsh punishment for defiers - including executions. Last week, 227 members of Iran’s Parliament pleaded with the judiciary to put all detained protesters to death.
While numbers are difficult to verify due to the lack of independent reporting in Iran, 15,915 protesters have been detained and 351 have been killed since the protests began, according to the latest figures by the Human Rights Activists News Agency, or HRANA.

Maz spoke beautifully about every large and small thing that makes a difference, ie, helping with luggage on a plane. I know that kind of momentary kindness can truly transform my day, which radiates out. I also loved how freely he spoke of his response to those in the media who speak of men not being men anymore. That was so refreshing! He is a fine human!

Some people say that they wish his answers had been deeper instead of circling it back to Iran... but I think this was necessary. The topic already ties in to the root of the issue, and I believe due to that he did not need to say anything too personal when the stakes are SO high. For everyone. Not Just Iran. Iran is a warning to us all of what is to come if we don't wake up and do what we can. In the face of that, it really is not relevant to be focused on the self.

He seemed committed to talking about the current state of Iran and I’m glad for that because I learned a lot; however, I do wish that he’d been more open to going deeper with his answers.

Baha’u’llah proclaimed equality of the sexes - that both man and woman are servants of God before Whom there is no distinction. Whosoever has a pure heart and renders good deeds is nearer to God and the object of His favor - whether man or woman. The sex distinction which exists in the human world is due to the lack of education for woman, who has been denied equal opportunity for development and advancement. Equality of the sexes will be established in proportion to the increased opportunities afforded woman in this age, for man and woman are equally the recipients of powers and endowments from God, the Creator. God has not ordained distinction between them in His consummate purpose. - Abdu’l-Baha, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 300.

As an Indian, I consider Iran or former Persia as one of the greatest civilizations on earth. Islam and the presence of oil kind of destroyed that country. During islamic conquest, India took persian zorastrain believers as refugees who fled from.persecution. They are called Parsis.
