You made the fold over tape sewing look so easy. That was the hardest part for me!

It used to be super hard but sewing it first under the fabric is a game changer with my machine!
Love it!

So glad you like it! Thanks for the supportive comment!
I love this pattern! I already have all my materials, but I wonder if you made the sleeves shorter as well or just the body part?

Have purchased my pattern! Can't wait to get started - I wonder, would it be possible to use Fleece for the placket or is it not sturdy enough?

Hi! Thanks so much!! You can totally use fleece while still backing it with interfacing. I have tried (it's convenient as it allows to use the same fabric and therefore no color mismatch) but I found the thickness difficult to tackle.

@@isainstitches The fleece is complete! It looks amazing. Thank you so much for the pattern and this video. I did indeed use fleece for the placket, and it is very thick, but not too thick that it jeopardises the quality of the jumper. Can't wait to make some more for family members! 🥰

@@catwightman2943 That's great news!! Thanks for asking the question and letting me/us know how it went, I'm sure other people will want to use fleece for the buttons placket too! 🥰
Hi great video. Thank you. I’ve ordered the pattern on Etsy but am curious to know which fabric you use for the placket.

I used some light gabardine. Use a woven fabric and I recommend not 100% cotton. I've tried poplin and the wrinkles after washing are ugly, synthetic fibers will avoid wrinkles

Do you have any suggestions for finishing edges WITHOUT a overlock/server? This will be my first ever clothing item and I only own a regular sewing machine
@isainstitches

Hi, most people who don't have an overlocker use the zig zag stitch on their regular machines. Some machines offer an overlock stitch (I never tried it though, my machine is too old and doesn't have it)
Hi! Where did you say you got the elastic from? I’ve already sewn everything up to that part but realized I got the wrong type (not stretchy). I’m having a lot of trouble finding some in the color I want

Hi! So weird! I don't have any controle on Etsy as it's a huge marketplace... I'm pasting the link again here www.etsy.com/listing/1386649829/half-snap-fleece-sweatshirt-for-men
What type of thread do you use? Will the stitches pop when stretched?
@isainstitches
9 ай бұрын
Yes good question! I sewed with a regular straight stitch, regular thread. My fabric is a bit stretchy indeed, so 1) the garment does include some ease it's not tight= no negative ease, 2) the seams may only pop if they're pulled on but I doubt I'll ever try and pull this garment down to my feet 2) as for most of the only horizontal seams, they are for the elastic bias, which I sewed while stretching the bias so the stitches already are adapted to stretching the bias to the max. Hope this helps!

If doing a zipper instead of the snaps when would you add that?
@isainstitches

Modify the pattern before cutting your fabric, and then adding the zipper comes at the same moment as adding the buttons
can you explain pattern this piece

I was wondering if interfacing could be used on the collar? It seems many patterns call for it, I never use it but was wondering why some call for it and others don't?
@isainstitches
6 ай бұрын
Hi, yes good question. So interfacing will be required in two cases: 1) to rigidify certain parts of a garment, so that they visually look stiff. Hence backing shirt collars indeed, or shirt cuffs. Some formal jackets are entirely backed with interfacing. 2) to reinforce areas of a project that will be torn, pulled on, just manipulated a lot: wherever you have buttons, zippers, eyelets. Here it's not necessary to add interfacing to the collar to stiffen it because polar fleece fabric is thick and with the topstitching in 10:47 it'll stand on its own. As for interfacing it to reinforce it, it's not necessary, there isn't much pulling here. Hope it's clearer!
