Say, can you hear
Is there a meaning to your grief?
Where there is pain
You see grace
As if sacrifice
Was meaningful end in itself
Your trial and error is error and error
Staying at the end of a hallway
Dozens of doors you never tried to open
Narrow vision, you’re the scapegoat
You try to fix things that have never been
Hoping for your turn
All the basement stories you heard
Waiting for the world
To bend around you
You’re self-absorbed
Raving about your cryptic ways
Aren’t willing to change
Old grudges
Staying at the end of a hallway
Dozens of doors you never tried to open
Narrow vision, you’re the scapegoat
You try to fix things that have never been
Staying at the end of a hallway
Dozens of doors you never tried to open
Narrow vision, you’re the scapegoat
You try to fix things that have never been broken
Waiting for the world
To bend around you

Sublime.
The lyrics I think are meant to describe a person waiting for the world to bend to his comfort, instead of risking things, by opening doors and trying new things he stays stagnant waiting for the opertunity to come to him instead of chasing it down as he should. you ended up writing a song about me.

This song actually changed my life for the better. “Dozens of doors you’ve never tried to open” hit like a truck. Quit my job at my absolute lowest and I now do what I wanted to. Things are looking up for the first time in a long time. Thank you Men I Trust.

Men I trust,in my opinion is one the most iconic bands of the 2010’s. They are a part of an entire new genre that speaks to their audience and captivates the misrepresented people in society, which in fact is most people as the mainstream media music is extremely irrelevant from most of our lives. Thank you for this gem. Will hope to see you all live one day. Peace.

sumed up perfectly thank you for saying wat i always wanted too also may i had that this kind of music beatuifly sad. this sweetly sad music is how we express our saddness, not metal because its not oever the top . i feel it expresses and relates to how i feel better than death metal.

one of the best basslines i’ve ever heard and the dreamy guitar couldn’t compliment it more perfectly
The cinematography and the acting of the guy really resonates with me
The strum of the chords establishes an instant mood and the acting... is impressive. I really want to hear him for whatever speech he was practicing
This song is literally all I needed

Welcome
I love how the video is basically reaching out about being on your own bubble at the end of a hallway with thousands of doors that could lead to a new experience and its never taken, and yet in the middle of the video its also celebrating individuality; hes dancing on his own in his own little bubble completely clueless but also careless about what the other rooms could bring with heir own experiences, and yet.. happy in his own little peace. in his own little room of self love. This video just adds so much joy to the song. celebrate who you are. ;)
@akillgore4229

That's not what I see in the video at all. I see a person desperate to make reality into something it will never be. His dancing alone is how he convinces himself he is someone else. There is no real celebration going on here. That's why he makes that face when he cleans the already clean mirror. It's as if he was hoping to see something different when he wiped it off, and was disappointed to see himself look the same. Idk I would say there's definitely room for interpretation, but he seems more desperate than genuinely happy
@Halo_Legend
3 жыл бұрын
It's not about any bubble though. That's a wrong metaphor. It's, literally as the lyrics said, about being "self-absorbed". It's about people who revel in their own misery because they are egocentric and love to feel like the main protagonist in the story of life. About those who would rather wait for their princes or princesses in shining armor than look for them, who never leave their comfort zone and just wait for life to change, never accepting the effort of changing themselves. I know what I'm talking about as I was one of them, also I know many people like that. But it's also just an interpretation, it might be about something slightly different.

@@Halo_Legend I love all three of these in their own respects. I see him preparing for a motivational talk or something that he's concocted himself and waiting for people to show. No one does so he comes to the end of the failure and instead dances because he feels like they're the idiots for missing out. There is certainly desperation on his face but also ignorance, being self-absorbed, raving about his cryptic ways that, in his mind, no one else understands. He's at the end of his hallway waiting for them to come to him. He doesn't try to open doors because he doesn't care. He has the answers. Or so he thinks. It's such a great video!

"Say, can you hear" debuted at #13 on the New Alternative 40 Chart this week!
This song, in my opinion, sounds like a more dreamy, ethereal, cute and less distorted Strokes song in all the best ways. I love this song so much
Just being introduced to this band and I honestly am trying to find out where I’ve been for a whole year. Their music is so smooth and reminds me so much of Mac Demarco.

This is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life
This lyrics are just so right about people. I feel like it's applicable to all people to some extent, for some people more than others, of course. I love the music that make you really face yourself and it's just, for the lack of the better word - true. Nothing, but appretiation for the band!
Damn the ending is crazy!
all time fav song
This is one of them bops that hits harder the more you slow it down.

Unfortunately, this hit close to home
Always loving the bass line of this band 👽💜

Ok I first heard it as a garage version and loved how chill it was, tried this and then thought: ok, if the lyrics are good (it's kinda hard to understand them just by listening, but that's ok) then I'm gonna subscribe. So I read them. I'm beyond impressed, this topic resonates with me as it's a common problem AND I love the tune, so great.
I drink cheap vodka and enjoy this so much, sending love from Czech Republic
Love you Emma and Men I trust. Thanks for all these songs. ❤️❤️
i love it so much aaaaaaaa have no words to describe
I'm weirdly attracted to the man in this video Also I hate how I completely understand the meaning behind this song/video. He ravels in his own little world in his head, being stuck in it at the same time because he's too afraid to go on and at this point he doesnt even see the other 'doors'/options because he's so self absorbed and insecure and the way he's just dancing and rambling in this one room going 'nuts' XD basically but at the end of the he's at the exact same spot. kinda sad & kinda relatable.
this band delivers so beautifully. thank you for this awesome content
Wow...my heart beats to this and many of your tunes. Thank you for existing ❤️
