Super Paper Mario is a beautiful game about a Romeo and Juliet type situation where the male lead takes vengeance into his own hands and learns the power of corrupt anger. He's led astray to murder his own people out of grief, and risks himself and even new friends to destroy the Universe that took his love from him. However, he must come to grips with this loss in order to stop his power from falling into even more deceptive hands, one who's greed wants to turn the Universe into his own and will stop at nothing to get it. Throughout the game you learn to take friendship with unexpected allies, you travel literally to heaven and hell, and some in your party will face their own inner demons as love, identity, and alliance are all explored. What is loneliness? What is right? How do we deal with death? . . . Oh yeah and Mario's in it or something

I hate Romeo and Juliet with a burning passion. Though Super Paper Mario gets the story and relationship right.

As a child, we felt empathy with the heroes. As adults, we feel empathy with the villains.

I’m imagining that this is right after he starts believing that Timpani is dead, and he’s just standing there alone, taking it in, drenching the ground under him with tears of grief.

Based on the image in the video, we can assume that this is shortly after Blumiere found the special place for him and Timpani, and then Blumiere's father presumably killed Timpani and told his son about it. So this would be an appropriate interpretation.

“Blumiere, my son, don’t! Even your ancestors could not handle that dark book… If you open it… there’s no telling what might happen!” “I don’t care, Father! A world without her is empty. A LIFE without her is empty. Speak, Dark Prognosticus! Teach your dark history! I await your command! BLEH HEH HEH! BLECK!” “Blumiere… What have you done?” “Silence! The first prophecy beckons. Seeing Blumiere on the hill all alone is so saddening. With Timpani gone, what else does he have to lose? This song fits perfectly to his loneliness, the ticking clock indicating how long will he stay sane before he goes mad with a shattered heart.

Blumiere wished he could spend just one day with Timpani, freely and out in the sunlight, the Tribe of Darkness be damned. He knew she wanted the same. But it was too dangerous. What would Father do if he saw them together? Oh well. He would just have to make peace with their nightly visits for now.

I'm actually gonna cry. Memory is one of my favorite songs of all time and it has a special place in my heart. This rendition of this song is absolutely beautiful.

The part at 4:31 when the original memory melody started playing actually made me begin to shed tears.

Makes me wonder why Blumiere is alone there in the cold of the night. Either Timpani is asleep, it was before Blumiere was with her again and he's thinking of her, or it's far into the future and she's passed away but he remains and thinks of her. At least, that's how I see it. A beautiful rendition again of a beautiful song, amazing work!

I personally think this would be what would play while Timpani is sleeping somewhere and Blumiere is reminiscing about the past - even potentially thinking of how to visit his minions and the heroes again.

Doesn't Bleck kind of wander off somewhere from time to time during the game's story? (I haven't played the game in a while) If I'm not misremembering, this could be their old meeting spot, which he revisits on occasions as he waits for all dimensions to end, along with his suffering. ...ok, that's depressing. x)

ethos Black wasn’t planning on remaking the world, Dimentio was. If the heroes failed to stop Bleck this wouldn’t happen.

I honestly wouldn't mind a sequel to Super Paper Mario. I hate how people make The Thousand Year Door, look flawless in comparison to Super Paper Mario. If you ask me, TTYD is phenomenal and a step in the right direction, but Super Paper Mario was a huge surprise. This game along with Majoras Mask makes me beleive that the ESRB doesn't actually PLAY the games they rate. Somehow, Nintendo's games give me the most surprise out of any games ever. We all thought that the sequel was going to be better than TTYD, and in my opinion it was, but the amount of people that were salty that it wasn't turn based, made it fall into obscurity. I ask myself "Why do people hate this game?" along with games like Twilight Princess and Undertale. These games have so many groundbreaking things about them, but why are they overlooked and over simplified? Everybody likes to overcomplicate games like Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and Touhou into something they honestly aren't, and then turn around, and over simplify the more "obscure" games like Twilight Princess, Undertale or in this case, Super Paper Mario, because apparently these people don't know what consistency is.

Which I don't mind at all, but there are still fans and haters that go over the boarder with their repetitive jokes. FFS! Toby Fox knows when to let a joke die, faster than these guys.

Ethan Kuhn As a video game, I can really appreciate colour splash, but as a video game in a beloved franchise that once had a formula that was 10 times better? I feel hurt, to say the least. But hey, at least we got similar games, that resemble the trilogy. Like Cave Story, which did the platform RPG thing about 5 years before Super Paper Mario, Mother 3 which has a phenomenal rhythm mechanic, and Undertale, which has Story, writing and mechanics, played off The first 2 games. Though I'm still hopeful that Paper Mario will make its casual return, as if the last two games never happened, I wouldn't count on it. I'd rather just stick to gushing about indie games, rather than being hurt over their inspiration's fate.

Super Paper Mario is a bad Paper Mario game, but a WONDERFUL game on its own. its like Starfox Adventures or Breath of the Wild in that regard.

If Super Paper Mario had different endings. This would be the bad ending i think

One where Bleck dies, and O'Chunks, Mimi, Nastasia, and Tippi just can't find the words to comfort themselves or each other. But Peach, Luigi, and Bowser are able to pull together an inspiring speech about loss... Also Mario says "Wahoo" and then everybody is instantly happy again. Crap. This sounds like a good idea for an AU fanfic. And because this is Super Paper Mario, Tippi could start dealing with her grief in uncharacteristically unhealthy ways, but Nastasia is able to get her on a better path.

I just imagine the 3 alternate endings like 1. Just bleck sacrifices himself to save everyone and make up for his mistakes 2. Just Tippi sacrifices herself to heal blecks suffering (the final stage of grief acceptance) and save the world 3. Both of them sacrifice themselves to live a happier life and save the world (the regular ending)

I want to find someone that relates to this song as I do. Since 2013 I have played this this game through every 2 years and as those bells toll for the undying love of Bleck and Timpani at the end I start to cry. When our universe finally comes to it’s end I’m happy that something so beautiful as the story of this was ever made. This is literally larger than life itself

I remember the day, for christmas I asked for the paper mario game but instead I got Super Paper Mario. Not being the game that I was waiting for I was still happy I got one. At home the next day I decided to play it and man am I happy that I got this. To this day I still have it and so my trusty old wii. I still replay this game just to realise I was just a kid when I got it and now I am nearly an adult. I will never forget this masterpiece

This song tho... Toward the end of the song it sounds like somebody just died.

Super Paper Mario turned 13 today, so I decided to return to my favourite remix on KZread.

This picture is the same as the one at the end of the game, only without Timpani, so I like to think this is what happens if Tippi didn't die. Bleck sacrificed himself and is in the afterlife without Timpani

Hearing those first few sounds in the song startles you at first, but then you realize it's part of the music. Then the clock ticks in. And you can tell it's gonna be an amazing song already.

For a Mario game, the story had no right being this sad

It really feels like those blades of grass in the foreground should be moving.

I found the information from an account named Supper Mario Broth, as they found in the code there's an unused Tippi tattle for Nastasia to where Tippi states "That's Nastasia, the count's executive assistant. She has served him the longest... Without him, she is quite lonely, but she manages to go on in her new life... It is hard for me to see her like this... I think I know exactly how she feels..." the account that found this then described their post further by stating: "The files for Super Paper Mario contain an unused Tattle for Nastasia that would be spoken by Tippi herself. In the finished game, Tippi is already gone by the time Nastasia can be Tattled and the only Tattle for her is by Tiptron, who has a different, less personal message. The message is written as though it refers to a point where Count Bleck is already gone, but is spoken by Tippi. This puts it at a hypothetical point in the story where Bleck is already gone but Tippi isn’t, which doesn’t exist in the final game." I just found this. Super Paper Mario is one of, if not my most favorite games of all time, and this was absolutely beautiful.

I got up and stood beside my bed and saw this song on KZread so I decided to play it, and as soon as I did it was like I was I was falling slowly back down into bed. This song is very powerful and probably unexplainable in words. The most beautiful songs I’ve heard in years thanks for keeping music alive

And then the credits roll up as count bleck caused destruction, alone forever in darkness.

To this day I still listen to this. The original and remix. I would like to think this is when Bleck lost tippi and grieves his lost love, but at the same time it was simply a fragmented memory that sort of became a nightmare. However it is just a nightmare and reality timpani (think I spelled it right) is resting in front of him as bleck holds her close. For me there are moments where I wanted the feeling of understanding what love can bring. Pain and truth, but more so a sense of relief that we can relax. Maybe I’m overthinking about it, but someday I’ll visit the place where I once had a sense of joy and care. From a park funny enough. But hey. We all are going through rough times. And if you are reading this. Never forget where you wanted to go. Always make sure you make the road to where you can sleep.

I feel like if the game had a ending where you could choose to sacrifice both of then or just count Bleck this would be the song that plays for only count Blecks death and not the both of them.

Gorgeous rendition, never believed it was possible to make an already relaxing song much more tranquil. The music makes me think of how Blumiere must have felt the night he found out his precious Timpani was taken from him.. Though I suppose it could also be Timpani after being cursed, knowing she might never see her love again. Either way, beautiful work my dude. Keep it up.

Yeah, this is really good! I love it, especially when Bleck's theme comes in near the end there. So beautiful. Aj DiSpirito gave me permission to use this in my Super Paper Mario sequel I'm making, which I'm grateful for because I know exactly how to use this beautiful piece. I'm glad to see this piece is enjoyed by others as much as it is enjoyed by me. Truly amazing. Memories of my favourite character from my favourite game.

I don't know why people hate these kinda games. So what if it wasn't turned based? This is the same deal with games like Undertale or A Hat in Time. So what if Undertales fandom is toxic? Toby Fox didn't choose for it to be toxic, the fans did that! And why do people say AHiT is a rip-off on Mario Odyssey? This game started development in 2011, waaaayy before the Switch was an idea! Just because a game is more popular doesn't make it the rip-off! Come on, people, you know better.

@@Youngbane1457 Yeah, but personally for me the game's atmosphere determines whether or not I want turn based combat or not, also the style of the game too. Count Bleck's castle is amazing for real-time combat, while other areas in the game feels weird. But I think the main problem with this game is that "It wasn't like the others! You make the first game, the sequels have to stick with that formula!" Super is actually my favorite PM game, followed by Color Splash (haven't played OK yet but it'll likely replace CS) because Super does something that just the other games don't do, and it's not just the combat system. The devs are more harassed then they should be, no matter how they try improving the next installment they always get hate from the fans, and 90% is always about the battle system.
