This video is deep. The song, on the surface, is about looking back at past memories from ones life, buts its much more than that. She is looking back at memories of her life, knowing she wouldn't be here for much longer. At the same time, it's almost like she's seeing into the future, looking through our eyes. She knew that one day, her loved ones/descendents and the world (us) would look back at her life, her works and her legacy with fondness, sadness, happiness, and gratitude. Her pleading for more life at the end is heartbreaking and reminds us that our lives here are fleeting. Thank you Minnie, for sharing your voice and your light with us. Wherever you are, I hope you are at peace.

she was an angel… my whole life i’ve been aware of and careful of breast cancer… loving on my family harder bc of her.

She was so beautiful and so very talented. It must have been so hard for her to sing this song knowing what was about to happen to her, and that she would be leaving her family.

If you look closely her right arm she couldn't use because of the cancer. She lost use of it from what I read. Notice her right arm had not move from that position since the video began. So stunning she died at such a young age

I played this song in memory of my Grandma Patsy Gail. She passed away on this day January 31st 1979 from breast cancer. Miss her so much.

I was a little boy when she passed away from her illness. At least we still can enjoy her music.

It's been 8 month since I loss my beloved husband of cancer my life have change completely without him we miss you so much me & the kids and your granddaughter Boo-Boo she ask about him constantly she was 2 yrs.old and me and my grandbaby was sitting in the bedroom when he took his last breath...REST PEACEFULLY LEE I LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!

I already could tell the pain in her eyes. So sad.

She was truly the Perfect Angel! I was living in Los Angeles at the time when she passed and they showed her funeral on tv Stevie Wonder was there, family, and Richard Rudolph was holding their children you could see the pain in his face. He truly lost his soul mate.

This song was not just a reflection of a beautiful memory, it was a cry to God for healing. Your spirit lives forever in our hearts❤❤❤

This song came out when I was a child and it takes me right back to 1979. It is the most hauntingly beautiful goodbye song. I am so glad that Minnie and her husband met and feel I love and had their children when they did. She was loved and cared for and that is an amazing gift. I never heard this one before today even though I grew up with Boomer parents as a Millennial. I've only heard Loving You/Inside My Love and know her story. This song and video are so touching. Her laments and cries to be saved brings tears, the fear on her face is palpable. A young mother, deeply in love with her husband, having her life snuffed out so early. So unfair but I hope she is happy, with health, wherever she is. Her daughter looks like her and I bet it is so nice, though bittersweet, to have this piece of their mother❤❤❤

She looks so sad. You can see the pain. She was a beautiful person, gone too soon. I remember when she passed on in 1979. It was on the evening news. ''Loving You'' holds fond childhood memories from 1975. I have my dads original copy.

Yeah I agree you can see the pain clearly in her eyes. I also notice she never moved her right arm and they used the book to distract. The cancer must have too away the use of her right arm. Pretty damn sad.

@@12thFan23 When I typed my comment I had no clue I’d see Cancer hit my immediate family. My mom passed away November 5 2021 from cancer. It was a short battle and she didn’t suffer . I miss her and only a few weeks ago I filmed and posted a tribute video for mom showing Minnie Riperton’s “Perfect Angel”LP , it’s my moms original copy. The song Lovin’ You is from the album.

I lost my mother to breast cancer in 1987 and this was her favorite song. Every time I think of her I play this song. I was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2001, and again I thought of my mother.... In 2005 I said "See you later to one of my sister's who was diagnosed with guess what.... Breast Cancer that had spread to her brain... Then in 2019 I found out that my baby niece had Leukemia and after a year she was doing good.. Well hello 2021 and a Stage 3 borderline stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis for ME... So now I'm going through my 2nd Rodeo with Cancer.... And here we are 2023 and I just had to tell my niece to give her mom, grandma, great grandma and everyone else up there in heaven a big hug for me!!!! She was just a baby who was a finger snap away from womanhood and now she won't get to see. The moral of the story is..... Cherish each and every one of your friends and family members.... Because you NEVER know when you'll be sitting in a chair going "BACK DOWN MEMORY LANE" thinking about them. So enjoy them now while you can and not when they become a memory!!!!!!!

When she said “Save me!”!! Lord have mercy!! I’m breaking down right now!! Can’t even imagine what her husband and family must’ve gone through with the loss of this Angelic Goddess!!

This is the very first time I'm hearing this song and I'm 60yrs old and I must say that these singers today can't touch this woman (Minnie) with that awesome voice.....period 😢😢😢
