One other funny... Miss Andrews was on one of the faculty commodities. In one of the meetings she was complaining at how meager the music library was. She made the statement that if we lost one book we would lose accreditation. This caused a rumor to spread on campus that there was a single book in the library which if lost would cause the university to lose our accreditation. This started a search of the library to find the 'book'....

When I arrived at OU, I was appalled that the practice instruments were two manual Estey reed organs.

Stephen - I don't remember the 'Deau parmi Nous' deal in organ class. Getting forgetful in my old age.... ;-)

Would someone be good enough to input a list of these distinguished individuals (as seen from stage left to stage right) that are taking part in this discussion? Many thanks in advance!

Can someone who knows, elaborate on the "Fish Story", that wasn't told due to time. I'm anxious to hear it!

I believe Diane Bish was a former student of Mildred Andrews.

She was and was brought back to campus for a weekend celebration and received an award after 30 years of the Joy Of Music.

I may be incorrect on facts. But, I believe that Mildred Andrews was a product of Oberlin Conservatory of Music and her teacher was Dr. Andrews, no relation.. I studied with Leo Holden, who was senior professor in 1954 and knew Ms Andrews. It must have been a very strict time as every note had to be fingered, every pedal marked, and there was a way of doing things around the console. It gave students a rounded foundation.

She did not attend Oberlin. Rather, U Michigan, a student of Palmer Christian; and then Dupré. There are any number of people who will corroborate this. Stephen Roberts, for one.

What was the cause of Ms. Andrew's death?
