-----
In this clip, Melvin Farmer discussed the inception of the war between the Eight Tray Gangsters and Rollin 60s. He acknowledged that the popular story that things were ignited after a fight over a girl, but added that things got heated after a member of the Rollin 60s was killed prior to that fight. Melvin Farmer also explained how there have always been internal rifts within the Crips but nothing quite like the Eight Trays and the 60s. However, Melvin never participated in the war. He said he effectively stopped banging at 17 because he was strictly Crip vs. Blood.

83's & 60's are the most influential Crip sets of all time , You can throw Ecc in there too but far as spreading nationwide and having the most recognition, 83's & 60's are all across the country in many different cities. Grape st Crips spread to alot of different cities too. And than on the Blood side, I'd say Brims & Tree top Piru's spread the most nationwide along with the Bounty Hunters and Denver Lanes.

With all due respect, Big U is a younger, possibly 53 years old, and is much, much younger than Melvin Farmer. He knows what he knows, but the history goes back a lot further. Just as Melvin stated, the Hoover's were involved in several serious beefs with other Crips. Prior to 1979, the Hoover's were in a serious war with the East Coast Crips, which claimed numerous lives on both sides , with Raymond Washington possibly being a casualty of that situation 😼

What I’ve found with LA gang history is that no one person has the defacto history of what happened, who started what and so on. I’ve heard way too many conflicting stories from OGs who were there. Melvin Farmer might remember one thing but another OG from the other side will have a different account and memory of things. Richie Buz the “faction” would be like I’m from the rollin 0’s/nhc/2x car or the gangster/3x car or the criminal car. The set would be “I’m from Rich Rollin NH 60 crip reppin the deuce line” or “I’m from 108 Broadway gangsta crip reppin the trey” and then you got the hoover criminals. So you 83rd Hoover Criminals or the 107 Hoover criminals. The only crip set they got is 52 Hoover and they rep the deuce line.
