Melty Balance: The Count Of Monte Cristo | Drzuul

No fighting game can be 100% balanced. It's almost impossible but as the years have gone on developers have done better and better when balancing their rosters. However, that dose not mean that some aren't better than others and that's no exception for the count of monte cristo. He's a character with a unique design and a lot of tools so where does he land in terms of balance in melty blood type lumina.

This is the first in a series I plan to do on the balance of melty blood and other fighting games the pique my interest. I picked monte cristo as my first subject because he is so cool but I never see him get played so I wanted to know why and here we are. I tried my best to research everything and learn the character a bit but the first time around is never the best, right now I'm pleased with the video but in the future I'm sure I'll find some flaw like I usually do but hey that is the creative process for ya!
If you've never read the Counte of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas I highly recommend it. While it is a long book it's a good read especially if you're into French history around the time of Napoleon. Now that I think about it french history, french main character, french bread I can see why they picked Dantes for this game. Thanks for reading I truly apricate you all.

I haven’t fought any other character with my main more than Monte Cristo in ranked. He’s quite popular it seems. I think one of the main reason he struggles is that he has no tools that properly compensate for his slow speed. Kouma has command grabs, armour and moon skills that cover a large distance and Vlov has huge normals and really strong zoning. Count hasn’t got any really strong tools like they do and so he struggles to keep up with the cast especially when there are already shotos like Roa and Ciel who dominate neutral with their fast speed and strong zoning and anti-zoning tools.

You hit the nail on the head. After looking at Roa and Ciel in their own videos I completely agree. I think they should focus on making his rekka better. With the recent 2A/5A nerfs across the cast combined with the buffs to his J.C he might have a better chance in some match ups
Hes a cool character its just so hard to engage good characters with him

Tbh overall Melty Blood balance is very good and the gap between character is not big enough for you to avoid using even the worst character in competitive the best character is like an S while the worst is an A(with exception being Neco Arc)

Completely agree lumina has great balance especially considering how crazy the balance is in mbacc. Even neco arc is viable if you really put the work in.

@@Drzuul yeah a pro Neco Arc player could even beat a pro Vlov player if they have enough skill
I think you can make him work, given his toolkit you can always adjust how you play

Exactly and he’s gotten significantly buffed since I made this video so he’s a lot more viable.
What i want from him is the same thing they did with saber , remodel the combos, because most his combos are very limited

Well it looks like they were listening because he got some new sauce today. I definitely agree with you though when I was trying out his combos for the video it did feel very restrictive. I haven’t tried the new patch out myself, but I’m interested to see how Dantès and the other fate characters are now that they’ve all been buffed.

Personally I think they should nerf the count. Why? Because one put me in the most vile oki mixup I've ever seen and I want him to suffer for it.

What character do you play? He can definitely make life difficult for some
I'm glad the faygo characters are in the gutter where they belong while the original Tsukihime characters style all over them.

Do not jinx it. Ushi is one patch away from being a menace but true Tsukihime > all of Fate that is a hill I will die on
