Watching Melton Mowbray on TV.What a fabulous market. Wish we had one like it.Our one in Woolwich is dead😢

Yes when I lived in Peterborough we would go to Stamford at some week ends which we also loved but going to Melton was a full day out As for the Olde Pie Shoppe that was fatal for us there were so many wonderful things on sale it was hard to know what not to have Thank you for the memories

Lived a mile outside of town, nice place and still miss it and the friendly people. D & M pies are the best pork pies, I love stilton cheese so the pork pie with the stilton topping was great for me. these pies are shipped all over the world.

Cannot stomach Stilton Cheese. Nor do I eat Pork products. However while on the subject of Cheese - My (then) dearly beloved from MARGATE NJ ( Now MARGATE CITY ) and named after Margate by The Sea in England asked me : Why does Parmesan Cheese smell like dirty feet ? However - I much prefer GRANA cheese on my Pasta dishes - being half-Italian ( Fathers side ) - who was born in Kent County MI of Italian migrants. Incidentally -- The region of Parma in Italy is all Dairy Industry -- which is where Parmigiana / Parmesan derives its name from. As does the brand PARMALAT ( Meaning Milk from Parma )

been to Melton a few times but not on market day what a great looking market the pies are fantastic hope u didn't have too many Neil

I knew a bloke from Melton once. He told me a story about when they had a new headmaster at his school who came from outside the area. After a while, once the new bloke had settled in a bit, one of the locals asked him what he thought of the town. His reply was that he'd "...never lived in a place where the locals were so happy with what they'd got". Pleasant compliment, or withering putdown? I never could decide.

It was a low-level compliment stating that despite the misery the people are of high enough spirits - and mentally tough self sufficient people they can create their own happiness. And THAT says a great deal for the people there. Lesser people would be whining and complaining The People of Melton Mowbray have a long-standing history of surviving in difficult conditions - Just consider the Hills they have had to walk up and down on - Those Hills would wear out and break most people. The good thing is that when one has reached the peak - the remainder of the journey is all down-hill. That is why that half-the time the people are happy.

I can see why it in top 10 to live love them pies especially ones with pickle in Morrisons used to sell.👍

Speaking of nice little streets - one should take a walk along DogShit alley One should also understand that NICE is a negative word- as are so many Negative word beginning with the letter N - not only in the English language - also in other languages. Who can explain the meaning of 'Cutting Remarks "

Loved the video -- is it just me or does it seem a bit unexpected to find the Woodside Animal Center right next to a butcher shop (24:32)?

13:53 -- I was a great fan of the TV Series ' The Bill ' I did not know that Mark Wingett came form Melton Mowbray I do however know that actor Kevin Lloyd - who played the role of DC Alfred "Tosh" came from Derby - died in May 1998 As I recall he was written out of the Series - killed in the line of duty. I don't recall what year that was. I believe there was also a famous cricket player who came from Melton Mowbray --- Not being into sport (except Motor Sport) and certainly not cricket - I don't recall his name

Yes I bought a few pies from the pie shop. Very nice. I couldnt tell the difference between the cheaper one and the more expensive one. Fancy packaging I think.

White packaging are hand made in store but a tip….they recently bought the name Mrs.Kings pies. An old brand from melton years ago and they are ALL handmade and nicer(slightly different mix)

Everyone ----- Not every'body' Learn correct grammatical legal English The emphasis is on one How many of YOU are there in existence on this earth ? Learn that a body is a DEAD entity You will find the cemetery is full of bodies Now write an essay on the importance and significance of 'one' It's about 8 short lines of text My youngest students age 8 completed the essay successfully. You will not be able to do it simply because those students are academically more advanced than you. The solution is : undertake an extensive reading program to educate yourself to a higher degree.

They need to repaint the road numbers on the road surfaces. Been there twice in the last year and the confusion when passing through the town is a danger to all
