Awsome video, well timed and edited. A nice pair of long barbecue tongs work well for crucible handling, no plastic of course. I'd recommend setting out some firebrick or a cinder block to set the crucible on after removing it from the furnace. From there you can better reorient the tongs for a safer and more accurate pour. I dig your enthusiasm and style, keep it up!

Hi, I’d have a look at forging. You should be able to get up to temperature quite easy with gas or charcoal. To melt steel it is much trickier than aluminium. You could also consider welding but the outlay of the kit would be reasonably expensive

What is you melt rock? Does it become metal too or just became back to a rock ? Or depends what type of rock?

  • @MetallurgyData

Hi, my melt stock is just scrap aluminium. I’m not sure about the process to melt rock/ore but you will end up with molten metal and a slag, which will contain the majority of the rock/impurities. Hope that helps
