I never thought to start with the vocal melody then build upon it. Awesomeness.

Absolutely awesome. For those of us that it did not come naturally I believe with trying to study theory and from the repetition has gave me an ear for it that continues to grow hopefully. Another great lesson. Thank you. Hoping you have a blessed day.

God bless, Trampas. And yes. well put. For those of us without the great musical blessing, we have to put in a bit of extra effort.

@@MikesMusicMethod I think you are brilliant in this too, many people can understand many things and the way you explain can make you understand and smile at the same time....amazing!!!

tabbing out the vocal melody was nice, you should put that into your lessons going forward

thanks, Alex. At the moment I just dont have the time. But hopefully the channel keeps growing, more people chip in with monthly support, and I can lay off the day job and really crank these things out. Cause I hear ya. I think it's helpful too. I know people would get value from it but I have to prioritize what content has the biggest use. Thanks for all the great feedback though!

Sorry I meant to say also that the speed and content are great to me. Especially hi-lighting the passing tones on the chord changes. If you are doing more of these I’d definitely watch.

Did you get a different Electromatic? Not the orange one - I believe it was a 5120. I'm still looking for one. Which model is this. Thanks Mike.

Loved the first part. This one's great too, but I'm confused about chords being introduced in a melody lesson since melodies are supposedly successive notes, not chord progressions. Is there gonna be a third part too combining the two ideas?

yes! I can do that for you. Good feedback! And yes, they're separate things, but...also the same. haha. Good "voice leading" and composition is always considering chord and melody in tandem. But when you analyze them you do it separate. And there's no hard rule on how to do it. Usually I compose the progression first. Sometimes the melody comes first. You want to be capable of both. The more tools you have to capture these songs that are continuously falling from the sky the better! Think of the melody as linear across time. And the chord is every once in a while changing what is stacked above and below that linear line. Or like i said before...the melody is the color pallet, and the subject, whereas the chords are the background/canvass color.

@@MikesMusicMethod I totally get you and I think it is a better way to look at it especially when it comes to being a solo songwriter. A 3rd part would kick ass!
