The Melia chain Hotels on Cayo Santa Maria are my go to. I haven’t been the Buenavista, but am seriously considering a 2 week stay here very soon. I will be at the quiet pool, knitting and reading. It’s simply lovely. I seek out solitude, not always easy to find a quiet little niche, but here it is! The beauty of the Melia hotels are the established gardens. I believe Melia was one of the first developers on the Cayo, so they are oldest, and normally had the most cohesive staff. Feels like home to me.

This was a good tour and commentary about this great resort except you missed that small hut by the main pool, which is where you get towels for the beach and pools. Plus, it has a small library of books in different languages. When one is finished reading their book, one can donate it to this library, so you don't have to take it home. Just a suggestion....

4, 39-year-olds looking to book from the DEC27-JAN03. We are really worried about being completely bored lol. I guess it really depends on the people at the resort. We aren't looking to have a huge party but want to interact with people and not be worried about disturbing older people reading books.

Agree it depends on who is there, in general its pretty laid back. I did not see to many people reading books, there are two pools, and three beaches, so the people that are looking for quiet can find it. The main pool and the poolside bar and snacks is where most of the action is during the day, and the deck of the lobby bar is where the action is after dinner.
