Thanks for great info, glad to hear somebody give a footprint for fish tank size and not a gallon requirement.

Yeah I've been researching rainbows for almost a year and this was the first i've heard of it. Luckily the tank I get this month will be a 90g, so 4ft as Dan recommends :D

I have one..can't find more. But it's now 2 years old and about 5 1/2" Longest Rainbow in the tank, but a 5" almost M.boesemani is built like a tank and he's dominant in the 240 gallon. ALL Rainbows are great fish. They are like...small cichlids interesting too. Only nobody kills the other guy...ever.

Also- Rainbows will eat soft leafed plants. Or the new growth on plants they usually ignore.

I have two and they used to have a complete top dorsal fin but when I came from school one day there dorsal fins had a split and I thought that they had a fight with my other fish. But this video clarified. Soo thanks man😉

I went to Walmart and asked for 2 Giant Danios. When I got home, and placed them in the tank, I discovered that they were not Danios, but Rainbow Fish, particularly when placed against my other Danios. I like them anyway. I'm not mad.

Sounds like a deal to me. Rainbows are usually quite a bit more expensive than giant danios. Enjoy!

I keep 10 of these guys with 18 danios. They're actually timid compared to the danios :P

What PH and Temperatures are optimal

They can take a wide range of pH, but seem to adjust more quickly to hard/alkaline water. Mine are in soft water (that's what comes out of the tap here) and they take a while to adjust. Temps...anywhere from the mid-70's to low-80's F have always worked well for me.
