I wish the great Mel Brooks would make another movie. The world needs another Mel Brooks movie now more than it ever has before.

Mel got a BAFTA achievement award. He was almost crying. He stated later that he didn’t think BAFTA would give him any awards for anything - because though his films did well here, he thought BAFTA was about “real class directors like Hitchcock and Richard Attenborough” In a post award interview he said “An Oscar looks a bit like a toilet roll holder, a BAFTA actually looks like an Award” It was nice, because it showed how humble the guy is. Behind the big, bold personality we see, there is actually a quiet, humble man of extraordinary talent.

Mel Brooks looks a bit annoyed at 1:23 by Brand's interjection - I reckon he thought Brand meant that Hitchcocks life was creating its own drama now meant something about things like the Tippi Hedren obsession or something being turned into movies, one with Anthony Hopkins etc, and then hears Brand out and realises its just a harmless observation and relaxes. Brooks thought Hitchcock was the best director in the world. Surely can't be right. What about Kenji Mizoguchi, What about Fassbinder? What about Godard?
