Back in the early 80s I worked at a place called sound services in Hollywood. I wanted to be a character voice person but it was really hard to even get anyone to listen to you. So, I took the job at sound services in hopes that I would somehow get an opportunity. I had various jobs there like taking out the trash cleaning up after meetings eventually getting to work on some of the soundtracks Doing special-effects sounds etc. every once in a while voice people would come in and do voiceovers. Well, one day Mel Blanc came in! He was my hero because all I really wanted to do was character voices. I had a rare opportunity to visit with him one on one in the waiting room before he went in for his session. I’m sure I must have been giddy! We talked about his characters and he was so gracious with me and he actually did Porky Pig for me! It was almost surreal that this even happened. Like a dream come true for a young wanna be character voice actor who has met his ultimate role model! But then, suddenly our time was over and he was called into the session and I had to go back to work. Later, I was working on something and a man came out and said “Are you Chris?”And I said “yes!” He said to me, “Mel says you’re doing a Voice on this commercial!” Well you could imagine the shock of hearing this. So, I followed the man he handed me a piece of paper with the script on it and it was for an owl character. I nailed it!! That was probably one of the best days of my life. Funny, I didn’t get paid to do the commercial but I didn’t even care. I never saw Mel again. But I was able to do character voices from time to time throughout my life. Thanks Mr Blanc for the opportunity and such a wonderful memory that I’ll never forget.

I met Mel Blanc when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I never forgot it. I was at school, and he showed his cartoons and did some of his voices for us kids and the staff. After this was over, he gave all of us new Kodak Brownie cameras. It was so magical and wonderful! This was in 1954 or 1955 in Los Angeles, California, where I was born. I remember this like it was yesterday! I am now 74 years, soon to be 75. ❤️💝🐰🐷🐥🐕‍🦺❤️🥰😍

Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudnt; gave me the appreciation of opera music ...!! lol . Still to this day; I can't listen to an opera without thinking of: Mel Blanc, Mr. B. Bunny Esquire and the rest of the looney tunes characters. I miss Saturday mornings as a kid. Making french toast and watching cartoons. Memorable childhood mornings in the early 1970's ...! ^×^

Mel Blanc and the people who made those cartoons had a real feeling for children. They didn't "talk down to them" with the content of the stories nor with the characters. He reminds me somewhat of Jonathan Winters who not only does voices but all sorts of other sound effects. I'll bet if those two ever met over a couple of beers that the other people in the room would be entertained like never before. I remember the first time I ever saw Mel Blanc on The Tonight Show. As a little kid whose parents let him stay up late that night, it was like magic. As a little kid, I used to do cartoon voices and imitations of people the comics on Ed Sullivan were doing for my little sister to make her laugh. Mel Blanc was my inspiration for all of it. So here's one of my answering machine messages... done in my best Snagglepuss voice with plenty of fake slobber... "Sufferin' succotash, ya just missed me.... but you can still leave me a message. Just say it succinctly and we'll solve this snafu once and for all... and won't that just be.... ssssuper?!!!"

Believe it or not they were not exactly directed towards children as their prime audience. They were really made for older teens and adults, especially by the time the mid to late 30s rolled around. They were featured in theaters right before Warner Films that were also for an adult audience. Years later TV came along and a selection of some were found to be loved by kids but dozens were far from appropriate for kids and never shown.

Mel told this story on Johnny Carson years about how he finally got to audition. Mel told the part about how he kept going back and was always rejected. He goes on to say I finally got my chance though and Johnny says your perseverance paid off. And Mel says no, the guy that kept rejecting me died!

I was his pool man at his Palisades home in 1968-69 . I remember He kept the pool at 93 degrees because of his mostly his hip Injuries,. Great guy . At 78 years old It's such wonderful life long memory for me to have met him. As a child in the late 1940's I would go to the local 25 cent movies and watch Bugs Bunny cartoons, In the mid 1970's my kids would watch them on TV. Mel Blanc is part of history. His work had compassion and goodness in it. The curved road near UCLA was made into a banked turn after his crash today it has posts in the middle on Sunset just west of what use to be Westwood Blvd.

Later I discovered Jack Benny shows on cassette tapes on RadioOla and I used to listen When Radio 📻 Was on a local Chicago Radio Station on WBBM. Just a few years ago I vacationed in this little beautiful mountain town called Big Bear in California. On a boat tour around the lake, our guide told us that Mel Blanc's son lived on the lake and would occasionally come out to greet the boat. Sure enough, Bugs, Porky, and others were on a megaphone talking to us from across the water. It was such a wonderful surprise and an unforgettable experience!

I have a huge collection of the Warner brothers cartoons on a hard drive a friend made for me for my grand children and they all love watching those classic cartoons. I have the first when they started to the 1980s. An I told my grand children all about Mr Mel Blanc and how he is all those voices. They thought I was was joking them so I played this very same recording for them and said, one-day in the future these cartoons will be more famous than they already are and with Mel's story documentary here these to me are just as precious to me as the valuables I have in my safe for you kids when you're older you get it all so protect these cartoons and Mel's story because one day I'm sure you will want to share them with your children and grandchildren just like I done because when I was a little boy, I got to watch these everyday and they were new coming on the TV for the first time. So see your Papa grew up watching them just like I have been letting you watch over the trashy cartoons that's playing on TV now. To sum it up nicely, my grand children loved to watch these old classic cartoons and I have given one copy to my cousin for his grandsons to watch. He agrees those on tv today can't compare to the quality nor the home values unlike the new ones they play with twisted scripts. I don't like alot of the new ones, but there are a few that quality family good with morals and respect an no bad language in them. It starts with the parents and what we let our children watch and listen to that helps mold them into who they will be in the future. If you start with value an respect vs disrespectful talking back little brats, how are they going to act when they are teenagers and then at 16 or 18 if they live that long. Please notice what they are saying an don't be one of those parents that say, oh go outside and play or go watch your TV. Be the one who wants to talk to them little soon to be adults, and spend quality time with them and see how much they love you and your love you have for your family. An most important thing to never forget, an this is a biggy, 5ell your children and your spouse how much you truly do love them and that your very proud of how smart they are. One day an it could be even tomorrow, your life could change in a second an it's all gone. Tell the ones you truly love that you love them each and every night even if they are already asleep. It does make a huge difference between them knowing an them never hearing it from you. My father Never told me he loved me but told my sister's he lived them. I'll never forget how much that hurt as a small 3 year old then growing up only seeing him when he was around. I vowed I'd never be like that and I didn't. My babies always know how I feel about them because I tell them all the time. I can't tell you what I had for supper tonight but I can remember alot from the past. I'm getting that memory problem like Alot of other people get. One day I won't remember where I live they tell me. I laughed at them and said shoot I don't remember that now. Hahaha.but I wake up each day in my own bed inside my house. Not sure how long it was since I been outside last time. I want to tell you all, I love you all and please share Love not hate. Hate has never fixed anything where Love has moved mountains, made beautiful new babies, and helped billions of people wake up each day and smile at the sun and say hello everyone I'm here and it's going to be another beautiful day for us all. Help those who have nothing. It could have been you in that spot. Give a thank you for the people who help you, bring your coffee or drink or food to you. Be nice and be grateful for everything you have. An one day if you're lucky enough you can grow old with your spouse together sitting on your porch swing or chairs listening to the birds singing or children playing with each other and laughing. I believe each time a child laughs an angel gets their wings. Believe in Love and Have Positive Thoughts because it will be that way tomorrow for you. I wish I had chosen better than I did. But I still have not given up hoping one day I'll find my Mrs Right since my ex wasn't. I've remained single unattached because I believe I'll find her or she find me. An I'll have the same type of Love Mel Blanc had for his lovely wife for all those years they were together, and they had the Real Loving family. That's why he was so happy, happy home and happy at his career, he didn't have a job. A job is something you have to do an he didn't have to do it, he Wanted to do it to make others laugh because he Loved making others Happy so they could Feel the Love inside his heart coming out 8n his many happy voices. Rip Mr Blanc, I Love and miss you buddy. To everyone else in this world, try more Love Today, giving it to receive it back and don't forget a hug goes with each good morning you give. See if it is difference from your yesterday. We know there is. Love is the strongest Energy and Power in our Universe. There is an unlimited supply of it.

There was a great female voice actor by the name of June Foray. You’ve heard her all your life, and you’ll see her in this video. Besides when she speaks on-camera (and notice the “Rocky the Flying Squirrel” necklace she’s wearing!)… June was the voice of Rocky, as well as dozens of other characters, and a jeweler who was a big fan of hers made that necklace for June as a gift, and it’s the only one there is in the world!). Watch carefully - there’s a still photo in this video that shows Mel in a theater seat, and that young woman next to him is a young June Foray. And even the title of this video is “Mel Blanc - The Man of A Thousand Voices”. Some people said that June Foray was the female Mel Blanc. But the great Warner Brothers Cartoon Director Chuck Jones put it this way: “Mel Blanc is the male June Foray!”.

I have been a long time admirer of Mel's work but had no idea it was this extensive. He was also one of another special group of entertainers who were good role models off the screen. Like Jack Benny, George Burns, Bob Hope and a few others he wasn't involved in scandal and simply enjoyed life while allowing the rest of us to delight in being entertained by him.

I don't think that many people realize that loony tunes were cartoons for adults. Back then they used to run what were called shorts before a feature presentation, cartoons and weekly serials came first. How many know that Mel Blanc was the voice of Barnry in the Flintstones, I'll bet not many.

I love Mel Blanc's Christmas albums. We still listen to them & make Christmas cookies. It’s not Christmas without Mel. My dad had the same thing happen in the hospital. He was on a blow up mattress so he didn't get a bed sore & the nurse forgot to put up the rail & it flipped him out of bed & he broke his arm & ribs. He was gone in hours. They wouldn't let me stay after hours & I got the call in the middle of the night. I told my dad he was my hero & he was so happy. I miss him. I feel bad that it happened to Mel, too & for his family. He was a hero to millions. I loved watching his cartoons every Saturday morning when I was a kid. We had the only tv on the block & every kid in the neighborhood would be sitting on the floor watching cartoons. They weren't on 24/7 like now. 💕🐞💙
