MEKNES, Morocco 🇲🇦 | BETTER Than FES?!

Meknes مكناس is one of Morocco's four grand imperial cities located in the north of the country very close to Fes.
Although there's major renovation of the incredible sights of the city, I visited anyway to find out more.
What I discovered was an incredible city even with the big sights closed up. A city that rivals Fes and yet does so without the tourists and the hassle.
In this video I'll show you around and you'll see why you must visit BEFORE everyone else finds out!

I visited Meknes 2 weeks ago for a game of golf in the Royal Gardens (9 holes). Can it be compared to Fez? I don't think so. I have now been to Morocco 3 times in the last 2 years and Fes is currently my favorite city Both cities have their charm. However, when Meknes is finished I think I will like to come here again. There were fewer tourists here during my visit.

You ought to inform yourself a bit when greeting a culture as colorful and profound as Morocco's-I.e., Bab Lakhmiss, which means Thursday, or (The Thursday Gate )and so on, Khamsa also means five and so on. I live in the west but I'm a native of Meknes the land of poets and troubadours and great architecture and on and on..I cannot imagine at all to find --save in the rarest exceptional circumstance- someone from Manhattan come up to me and speak my tongue. But English... which I mastered alone over the years, cannot be ignored if one wants to survive! You see what I mean? in other words, It makes it easier to be aware of some basic communication and linguistic skills to truly understand a culture! For instance you refer to "The Living Theater" taking place in public places as "non-sense", wrong there my friend! it's an age-old tradition not to be dismissed or underestimated, for it surpasses even Shakespeare himself in what we call playwriting, because of direct and spontaneously improvised living THEATER and on and on...Not to mention the glorious Moorish culture that brought enlightenment and scientific discovery to the rest of the world, notably the west as we know it. Exercise caution and respect and learn some Darija, the magnificent and witty Moroccan colloquial language with a combination of eight languages in it alone! Good fortune to you!

@@ChrisKermis I didn't know you were a lefty, that was the first video I saw of you. I'm sorry! However, even a left-handed Muslim eats with his right. This is generally practiced in Muslim countries. Just give it a try, it will significantly increase your acceptance in a Muslim invironment. By the way, your vids are great!

@orto-ig9io Thank you, I appreciate it. I’ve travelled a lot in Islamic countries and have honestly seen both. My normal way is to eat with my right, but then use both hands if I see others do so. I was recently in Bangladesh for Eid and frequently saw both hands used. It’s a minefield!

@@ChrisKermis Yes, it is a minefield. As Westerners who grew up liberally, we see things in a more relaxed way than many Muslim brothers and sisters. You could write a lot more about this, but that would go too far here. I appreciate your excellent job. Thanks again!
