An outstanding performance of Music Maestro Legendary Ustad Raes Ahmed Khan along with his sons Farhan Raes Khan and Huzoor Hasnain, Accompanied by Ustad Bashir Khan (Tabla Player) in program MEHFIL E SHAB at PTV Karachi Centre, Hosted by Zeba Aali and Salman Alvi and Produced by Amjad Hussain Shah.

Ustad Raees Khansahib died today. May Allah grant him a place in Jannat. He was a great sitarist and he will be greatly missed.
My Ustad's performance/ playing is unmatched/unparalleled till date,not withstanding his virtue. It's my firm belief that nobody has yet reached there.

I heard Raees Khan sahibji sing a few lines of "jawani zindgani hai..." and that captured my heart. I must have played that song in his words and flair innumerable times, and each time with the same gusto and adulation as I did the first time. I am deeply saddened at his passing. May his soul RIP. My sincere Namaskar...!

Khan saheb is related to the great musician Tansen and raag miya ki malhaar was composed by him the whole world knows, his his great great great grandfather hence this statement by him.
Raees had two great talents. Music wise amazing. Sex wise equally a great master. He had 4 or 5 wifes. Both needs passion and power.
Raaes Khan should have continued to live in India where he was born. Ever since he went to Pakistan he has been going downhill. He was without any doubt a great talent but Pakistan did not foster his development. This is another sad story....... hardlly gives any concert level performance like Anushka Shankar who is all form no content.

You are right. It is a sad story. He was ignored by the establishment for many years. The country he chose to live in has the distinction of not respecting anyone of any distinction : Abdus Salam, Malala, Chinoy ...... are all reviled in Pakistan .

This performance is pure crappola. Anybody have any youtube videos of Rais Khan playing a Raag seriously for 30 mins or more. I am really sad with the way thing ended for him. His gayaki style as incredible. What the hell happened to him?
