What a soulful rendition it was! It was simply brilliant and matchless singing! The agonies and ecstasies of a crestfallen lover got fully reflected in this beautiful ghazal in the divine voice of the great Khan Saab The tabla accompaniment was also outstanding. Together, it was a lethal performance. What a wonderful singer the great Mehdi Hassan Saab was! Devyani PATIl Ma'am, Thankful for your kind response. It has come to my notice only today and therefore, this belated reaction. ln one of the MP3s of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab's divine creations, I have in my proud possession, the great Khan Saab had himself introduced Haji Peer Bux Saab and Khalifa Mohamad Hussain Saab as his accompanists in tabla and organ harmonium, respectively, for the last 20-25 years while rendering the ghazal " Kubaku phail gayee baat sanasai ki" penned by Perveen Sakir , the diplomat- poetess of Pakistan.. Needless to say that both of them might have been very capable as accompanists to have come to the reckoning of the great Khan Saab. Passage of time had proved beyond reasonable doubt -- how right was the great Mehdi Hassan Saab and what a marvellous selection it had turned out to be !

Ustad Shaukat Hussain Khan and Ustad Abdul Sattar Tari Khan in tabla and Ustad Sultan Khan in sarengi were the other noted accompanists, who had assisted the great Khan Saab during his glittering career spanning over almost six decades as a singer of exceptional merit ! What a lethal combination it was !

Very true sir. Lethal indeed Even after 50 yrs very young singers are rendering his gazals with modern orchestra!!he continues to hold this turf till today and for years to come

Heavenly voice from god of Ghazal signing THE one and only one for devine agès to come for èvér....

He is a singing-voice actor. I don't think anyone can portray bhaav like this... that's why he is great and followed by the rasikas

Mehdi Hasan Sahab ki kya baat hai Naa koi MehdiSahab jaisa aur naa koi Jagjeet Singh jaisa aur naa koi Begum Akhtar jaisa aur naahi koiTalat Mahmud jaisa.Koi inko nahi paa sakta Shukriyaa to hai aap jaise qadra daano kaa jo hamein aisi anmol saugaatein dete rahte hain. May God increase your tribe.
