Meguiar's Spray Wax VS Meguiar's Paste Wax: X-Wax and Ultimate Paste Wax!

In this video, I show Meguiar's synthetic express spray wax side by side with Meguiar's ultimate paste wax! Here I show the visual difference, and the hydrophobic technology difference in these two popular and awesome auto detailing waxes! Meguiar's spray wax has been a go to wax for many professional auto detailers, and for a good reason. What could be its paste counterpart, meguiar's ultimate paste wax, is just as amazing in the paste wax world! I wanted to compare them side by side to see just what makes them different visually and how well they each bead water! Follow along as I compare what I would call the best car paste wax, and the best car spray wax side by side!

I use Ultimate liquid wax and have the synthetic spray wax. I hand wax it three to four times per year then use the spray wax maybe every other week to reinforce the coat that's already on it.

I agree. Xpress Spray Wax is really fast and easy to apply, and gives surprisingly great results for a spray on wax, especially on trim. I also use it on the window's exterior. Ultimate Paste Wax is longer lasting and gives more protection, and a slightly better shine, while taking the extra time to apply. You can't go wrong with either of them, and I use both. Paste as a base and spray after a wash. As an aside, you should make a list of your recommended item links for each video, so it's easy to find and use them. Thanks for all the great advice.

I meant links for all future and past items each time you do a new video. For instance this video would contain not only links for the products used here, but links for your recommended bottles, cleaners, towels, tire shine, tools etc. For instance I watched a couple of your videos with recommendations, but had not seen the one about leather care until after I had already purchased Meg's Leather Balm by coincidence.

Its getting to the point now where the wax isnt the issue, its the ease of use. I think its all in our heads. I have both sprays, liquids, pastes, synthetics, naturals, and all I know is im knackered after using one over the other and they all look similar after a days weahter. GLAZES, now theres a thing, they are there all day to add depth, gloss, deepen colour and so far the sprays dont do that AS well, so maybe thats next then no-one will buy hard waxes again if coloured infused spray waxes come along. It used to be "hey wont last as along" but then if you use it each wash, it lasts as long or longer.

Hello Luke! First n foremost your channel is quickly becoming my favorite auto detailing channel. You definitely explain things thoroughly for everyone to be able to understand so keep it up! I am currently a DIYer but I would really like to potentially start my own business or at least do it independantly as a side job for money as I like to do it. Some quick questions for ya- If a client asks for a wash and wax do you often use the "Express Spray Wax" or the "Paste Wax" more? How do you decide which to use? And 2nd question- Do you charge the same to apply either wax? Just out of curiosity to gain knowlege on prices for clients. Thanks!

Hey man! I am so glad, that compliment made my day!!! Let me know in the future if I can help with anything! As far as the wax, witha wash and wax, I will normally go ahead and only apply the Express Spray Wax because it is so quick, and I will charge differently for different waxes, paste wax I charge more just because it is more time consuming, and you would be surprised, but some people are very particular about the wax you use, so I have some expensive stuff in my arsenal that I use for certain people, and I charge additional for that as well

Hey Luke really enjoying your videos over in the UK, something I've been really curious about for a while and I'm hoping you can help with is.... how many types of wax can you combine successfully. For example if I wash a car with meguiars ultimate wash and wax. Dry and car off with x press wax as a drying aid, could I then use my meguiars ultimate paste wax? would it be of any benefit or am I wasting time and money?? What would you recommend for washing and drying when ultimate paste wax will be used. Thanks man

Hi Luke, awesome video ! Just what i needed. Thanks. I have a few questions: 1.) What method do you prefer if you were going to use both waxes on a car. Meguiars Paste wax first followed by a Meguiars express spray wax or the spray wax first followed by the Meguiars paste wax? 2.) What is your opinion on the quality of paste waxes vs Liquid waxes (not spray), for examples Meguiars ultimate liquid wax vs. Meguiars ultimate paste wax? Thanks

  • @wilsonautodetailing

    @wilsonautodetailing

    7 жыл бұрын

    1) I would use the paste wax first as a base, then follow with the spray 2) I think liquid waxes, at least in my world, are reserved more for machine application, so I might follow up a polishing with a liquid wax, but not for any specific reason other than I feel like it, and people say that machine application of a liquid wax allows it to really bond to the paint, and therfore produce a pretty awesome shine, and apparently last longer kind of like a sealant, but no nearly as long as a sealant

I just have a question if it's possible or better to layer the meguiars waxes like: 1st ultimate wax for strong protection, to be applied every 4 months 2nd layer will be the gold class carnauba wax for extreme glossy shine to be applied once a month & 3rd for weekly basis the xpress synthetic spray wax. I'm hoping for your reply. God bless.

Dude, please read my post. Meg's Ultimate Paste Wax contains no carnuaba. It has Petroleum Distillates and Poly(Dimethylsiloxane). Gold Class Paste Car Wax has Naphtha (petroleum), silicones, and Petroleum Distillates. Don't overthink it or buy into the marketing. Properly clean and decontaminate your car then use the spray wax you just made.

I think that may be over doing it a bit, if you are planning on applying spray wax every week, you could honestly just stop with that, if I were you I would focus more on applying a sealant once or twice a year, then maintaining it with some spray wax every week or two! Glad you like the video my man! Let me know if this helps!

From what Ive researched, the Trinova sealant has more shine then Jet Seal, but I cant find any proofs of longevity from either. Anyway, I applied it tonight with the Meguiars DA power attachment with a hexlogic 4" applicator pad, and was very impressed. It has a red/pink hue and is fairly runny. Can be stretched and applied pretty thin. Comes off super easy. It didn't cover the fine swirl marks, but has a high gloss and looks like glass. I topped the sealant with some Nu Finish paste wax because it was $7 and claimed 12 mo longevity, but that stuff ended up being hard to apply and remove, maybe a microfiber applicator pad was a bad choice..

The following is not my "opinion" or "what I think". If you really want to be more profitable, please do your research on the MSDS for the products you use. $35 for a gallon of spray wax? That's 27 cents per oz. Or you could go the Griot's way and pay 63 cents per oz. Meguiar's X-Press Wax contains about 70% water according to their own MSDS. That means about 90 oz. is distilled water. The majority of the remaining 36 oz. contains basic petroleum distillates which can be found in a myriad of other less expensive waxes. It does contain poly(dimethylsiloxane) which is synthetic but in such a low dose is negligible in the results at

Fantastic. I used Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax. After using up six 15.2 oz bottles and burning a deep hole in my wallet, I heard about Xpress Spray Wax and I bought the gallon tub. I believe it is the same wax except for the fact that Quik Wax smells much nicer.

As he menitons, the spray Wax is a polymer-based product, not wax, per se. (A good idea; lasts longer, easier to wipe it off). It is a time-saver but it does not last more than a few car washes in my experience. Their paste wax is polymer too. I love that because it's much easier to buff off than a traditional wax. Quote: Synthetic polymers crosslink to form a protective barrier that accurately reflects and amplifies light for incredible depth and mirror-like shine

I was turned on to this product about 2 years ago. I LOVE this product! You can use it two ways, on a wet car wet or on a dry car. I used it dry, because that is what I am used to. It goes on easy, comes off easy and leaves a surface so slick that you cannot even place a dry towel on the hood of the car without it slipping off. The deep shine is ridiculous. Like a show car that someone spent two hours buffing and waxing. washwax.com/collections/exterior-products

I don’t understand why you’re showing a water test by putting the hose like that that never happens in real world unless it just a straight super heavy downpour irl it’s usually rain and ofc water is gonna slide off if it’s a super heavy stream you should’ve used a sprayer

Did you know that Meguiars Ultimate Extreme Super Duty high tech paste wax has the SAME formula as the world standard Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell? Both are silicone based waxes. But you are paying 5 times more for that miracle super star wonder Meguiars wax.

  • @wilsonautodetailing

Two waxes both being silicone based does not mean that they have all of the same ingredients, however I understand the thought, and in many cases in the detailing world we are definitely overpaying!

Well you can do either! If you are a detailer then you are going to constantly be getting new waxes, and trying them out so, I would always suggest to try new stuff, but if you like what you have then definitely keep using it! But in the future, definitely try the meguiars!!

Cause I somewhat have a turtle wax wax which my friend gave to me but not in the product container because it is a Bad Order. So i'm not sure if it is a spray wax product or liquid wax. If it is not that hassle, could you do a manual waxing guide for people without a buffing machine? That would be a great content and big help. Great video BTW!!!
