I hope the government bans Safari trips like this. The guide has a high powered rifle, the purpose of which is to shoot the elephant, lion, or rhino in case the latter pursues the attack. It is better to watch these wildlife creatures from a safe distance and leave no possibility to kill any of these magnificent creatures

Leo - I kind of understand your reaction, but ……. Give me a minute - These types of Safaris are expensive or make a lot of money for the Land Owners and all the Guides, Tackers, Drivers, Porters, Camp Staff etc, so the animal (in this case an Elephant) is deemed to have huge value to the entire Community and helps put food on their tables. I know one Camp that realised its existence supports Over 3,000 people. Worthless animals are just that. Get rid and plough the land - eradicate Wildlife. However there is your other Option - Make Safaris all stay over 300 yards away. Then you can restrict all Visitors to those who can afford $30,000 Lenses - the Super Rich. BTW - How many times have you been to Africa ?

There is something magic about the human hand gesture, it works every time on every charging elephant

  • @cacatr4495

It's shared body language between humans and elephants. They know and recognize gestures because they themselves use them, particularly the Stop gesture and the Go Away gesture. We see the eles often using the Go Away gesture, and the intruding people using the Stop gesture, but the eles are not happy, the people need to go away. They're disrespectful to the elephants' space and peace.

@@harrynac6017 You're right about that. People haven't given thought to the fact that since elephants are too big for dens or nests, that like mustangs, their "home" is the bubble-of-space that moves with them in the Wild, and that *is their home. We mustn't invade their personal space: we can appreciate elephants from outside their personal bubble of space, which isn't too far away, and *is respectful. When you get to my ENP playlist, be *sure to read carefully the playlist **description* and to read the content at those posted urls; it's important. There is so much we have *not known about ENP. Looked to me that elephant knew exactly what that man had on his back. They have a great sense of smell. Probably could smell the oil on the gun and gun powder. That elephant knows what that can do. Either that or the elephant and the guide have an arrangement and this is a show for tourist. lol. Elephant put it's trunk down to read any communication coming in. Possible the other elephant told him to leave the stupid tourists alone.

Why does this guide get this close to an elephant in the Wild? *Ego, all ego. This dude is not wise. One of these days, these elephants that the dude is disrespecting by entering their personal space, may not allow it. People need to stay *outside of their personal space, but this dude doesn't. This guide repeatedly trespasses into their "bubble" of private space, a space that moves as the elephant moves. The elephants keep telling them to leave, and the guide keeps saying No. I wouldn't be a companion to this guide, paid or otherwise. Trespassing is offensive to people and elephants alike, but that dude doesn't care. The guide gets an ego-rush off of customers being impressed at their confidence to get so close. I would imagine they also get an ego-rush over all the "oooh's and ahhhh's" on their video pages. Unless an animal in the Wild comes to the human, voluntarily, they all have personal space needs that we need to respect. Fools don't, and fools have a bad outcome. I'm not saying that elephants aren't wonderful; they are, but they have their needs, and their needs must be respected.

This place is in Africa and this elephant was not trained but is free in the Wild, but for your knowledge, captive Asian elephants are trained throughout southeast Asia and India, not just for circuses and elephant shows, but for many other tourism draws. Every captive elephant in the world has been forced through Crush/Torture Training and it's cruel, very, very brutal, deadly brutal. Never go to any place that keeps or works captive elephants: it's done by force, and by brutality.

Humans are so arrogant. This arrogant guide brings his group entirely too close to this wild elephant. This whole thing could have played out differently, thankfully it didn’t. Being an apex predator doesn’t make you right or give you the right to do whatever you please.

@@tomcourtney4704 If you were the guide, there are many of us that feel you are getting too close to the elephants, that it doesn't show respect for their peace and sense of safety. The elephants are telling you to Go Away, and you don't respect their wishes, you just stand there, and you're too close to begin with. You should keep a respectful distance, and your videos indicate that you don't. We feel that you are imposing yourself, that you are not rightly respecting their peace and space. ~ If one knows elephants, an elephant can't just walk into another's herd; that is like walking into someone's home uninvited. It is an invasion and offensive; it creates conflict and elephants don't allow it. You are entering their herd-space the same way, and you, as a member of the human species, are known by elephants, and animals in the Wild, to be untrustworthy, so there are two reasons why your presence is a problem to them, 1. you've entered their herd-space uninvited, and 2. you are of a dangerous species. It bothers them and us that you are not honoring the elephants' wishes. You need to listen to them when they ask you to leave. You shouldn't be entering their herd-space to begin with. You might see the land as being open to anyone that wants to walk there, but they have a herd- or personal perimeter that moves with them, like a bubble of space that moves as they walk, and you're not staying outside it, you are entering it, and that bubble of space is their private, personal home. By entering their personal space, you are violating boundaries. I would imagine you don't do that with people, that you don't invade people's homes, but you're doing it with the elephants. It is very possible that you've been a guide for 30-40 years and still not know their manners. Please learn and abide by their manners. Thank you.
