Plus her mom was the one helping set up deals. So she followed her mom's lead. But unfortunately the mom got her in some messed up deals so it makes sense for her to renegotiate her contracts

This was wonderful. I really wanted to know the status of her case with Carl. He is tied up with J Prince, who is no good. They think they can bully her and its just not happening. I really hope the judge decides to grant her freedom so she can get back to her Hot Girl Sh!t. This girl has been through so much and still stands tall. Love to see it.

She’s gone through sooooo much in a short time my heart really breaks for her…..I hope she gets everything she wants and needs in life ESPECIALLY some fuckin peace. speaking of kpop though, the situation reminds me of the girl group LOONA and the legal battles they’re all currently embroiled in with their management company, Blockberry Creative. Currently I think only one girl has filed a lawsuit against them, and that was only after she was publicly kicked out of the group for claims of verbal abuse to staff (and if u saw th4 screenshots the company used as evidence u would laugh ur ass off). The other 11 girls have filed for injunctions to suspend the exclusive contracts Blockberry has over them. BASICALLY evidence has come out that not only have these girls not received a cent of payment in all of the 5+ years since debuting, BUT ALSO the contracts are designed with the expenses split between the company and the artist 50/50 while the revenue is split 70/30 AFTER taking the expenses out-designed so they’ll always owe money. Every single girl is currently over $1,000 in debt TO THAT FUCKASS COMPANY. The one that was kicked from the group, Chuu, was basically making the most money through outside appearances for other company ads and such, and basically won a legal battle in like 2021 to change her revenue cut to the 70 while the company got 30. Since then, the company had stopped providing cars for her to go to her schedules, stopped her from participating in the Japanese comeback release, and prevented her from joining ANY of the concerts , world tour included but also the ones in Seoul. All of it culminated in an announcement from Blockberry on November 25th of last year stating she was out of the group. Within the week, 9 other members had filed their injunctions. (one of the two remaining was from Hong Kong, and there are definitely going to be complications with her work visa to stay in Seoul. The other we believe was staying with her. This is corroborated by the fact that a few months later they both filed their injunctions at the same time). Basically the music industry has to dieeee

Hoping peace for Megan as well 💛 The Kpop contracts are really interesting. In how they structure them in such a one sided manner, which isn't far off from the US way either. I'd be curious what the labor laws in Korea are like. With all of the talent it's incredibly sad to see how few people make it to a livable wage being an artist.

The album can be an album but if you go around devaluing it in media by calling it a "mixtape"it is now considered a mixtape. Listen to how the newer artist promote at interviews. So technically yes if she wins re: Megan being able to garnish his money. By adding Carl to the amended third petition Megan & her legal team are directly going after his personal money now because the company is essentially insolvent/on its way to being insolvent (given the current audit).

Why do artist continue to sign 360 deals? Why aren't 360 deals illegal? Music companies have been doing this for years. It seems like newer artist didn't learn from Prince or MJ's plight with these record labels. I hope she gets her money.

@ChocoBeauty8 Unfortunately 360 deals are still very common / standard with both indie and major companies still. 180 deals are beginning to become normal which essentially means that labels take an artist’s cut of movie deals & merchandise, but don’t take cuts of sponsorships/brand deals. Labels are basically saying if they got the artist famous, they deserve the cut of not the artist, but as the public figure. Which in my opinion is wack 😂 Luckily it’s also becoming common for newer artists to share 50% ownership with their labels also known as an imprint. Artists now are signing deals for a certain amount of singles to be released instead of albums. This allows artists more control of what the artist wants to put out, and more cost effective on the label part, while partaking in the streaming algorithm better. We are seeing albums die which is sad, but in exchange for artists to have more freedom. It’s not a fair deal for artists but it’s a step forward for us. Thanks to Prince and MJ and all the predecessors who fought for our rights b/c we are slowly seeing change🙏. Power to the artist

Also to note: For an artist to negotiate a 360, they would need both leverage & money which 99% of artists do not have. To have leverage an artist needs a hit song, or a cult following as an independent artist. If they have that then they need an entertainment lawyer to advocate and negotiate a deal on the artists behalf which is expensive. 1000s of dollars. Hence why 99% of artists still have a bad deal. @samyljones3871 I think both are valid points in the desperation to climb out poverty. People tend to do things that they normally would not do. Also, people are passionate about their craft/art reaching the masses who also have people doing things they normally wouldn't do in order to get on. Social media has made music companies obsolete, and they have to find news to exploit their artists.

Her old manager is deceased it was her mom, which lead her to seeking new management, in Roc Nation, who then broke down to her how bad her contract was , she got a new liar and they tried to get 1501 to renegotiate her original deal, which the refused.. so she took it to court

Her performances at festivals and her endorsement deals. She’s had a few with Popeyes, Coach, Mielle Organics, Cash App and most recently Nike. She also has a long standing contract with Revlon.
