I'm also impressed by how transparent Kim has been about the process. I remember when she announced that she failed the exam which made her subject to a lot of scrutiny. I'm really happy to hear that she managed to push through. If she keeps going like this, I hope she can inspire young girls that there is more to life than trying to be beautiful and it is never too late to advance in education

This made me cry real tears. A boy broke up with me and told me “I wasn’t driven enough”. After the breakup I started studying to become a laboratory researcher in molecular bio. But in quarantine, because I got to be alone in my thoughts, his “you’re not driven enough” got louder and louder & it made me second guess what I did and whether or not I could actually become a researcher. But this is my dream. I’ll start saying it- “I’m a researcher, I’m a researcher, I’m a researcher!!!!!!!!!” This video was so important. I’m still crying, btw 🥲 Happy tears though 💧💧💧✨

You CAN become the researcher you dream to be! I totally believe in you! My father said something similar and it is crazy how 1 sentence seems to always stay in the back of our mind and makes us doubt our capabilities. But then I remind myself that even with that thought in the back of my mind, I DID become a researcher, got a PhD and am currently happily studying for a 2d Master. I bet your ex saying that reflected more his own shortcomings.

Most people confuse dumb with being empty. "Dumb" is a lack of knowledge and information. Everyone is dumb about something, but if you have an interest and pursue it, you are no longer dumb on that subject. "Empty" is lack of self. No interests, no opinions, no mind, and sometimes, no soul. They latch onto others because they have no idea who they are. Luckily, both can be cured.

I see so many women want to be hot and simultaneously treat their body like shit. The first step to achieving your dreams is to take of your body like you would a child. Sleep, exercise, stress reduction proper eating and hygiene. No need to be perfect, but you gotta treat it like a machine. Your ability to make good decisions will increase and you'll be able to sustain yourself. The biggest societal gaslighting is telling women that they are need to be hot but also that everything that makes someone hot is off limits, only the superficial things are allowed.

I went from being a care coordinator with workplace burnout from doing 72 hour weeks, to being a self published author of cheesy romance novels. I have an absolute blast writing them and my husband is addicted to reading them. I always wanted to do it and I MADE it happen. It might not earn me millions but I'm learning to be a better writer every day and I have expanded my vocabulary and my grammar also. I might not be Mensa material but I'm smart enough to know that reaching a goal feels instantly better than wondering 'what if?' and doing nothing about it.

Your comment about the "lifers" spoke to my soul. When I opted to go to junior college instead of a 4 year straight out of HS I met a lot of "lifers" who were at JC for the 6th/7th year still getting their associates degree. As an 18 yr old seeing that, I literally cried cause I thought that would be me too. Fortunately I met a good group of people and we studied our asses off, got out, transferred to great universities and now most of us our engineers, pharmacists, doctors etc. It's 100% the mindset.

Hey Shallon, my name is Jamie. I started watching your videos when I was a senior in high school and the pandemic hit and I thought my life was over - it was not 😉. I’m now a sophomore UCF nursing student at nineteen with a full ride to college, and extra time to get a minor in psychology. I hope to one day be a certified nurse midwife and get a doctorate degree in nursing. Despite all this, I always get into a head that I’m not good enough, pretty enough, mature enough and the only thing that’s gotten me out of that is deciding that NO ONE is putting in the work but ME, so NO ONE has a say in who I am but ME. My choices are mine ALONE and that is so freeing. Anyways I just wanted to say your videos continue to be a great resource for me and I really appreciate you. P.S. I’m also an only child of a single mom - I get you girl. 👩‍👧

I’ve barely been aloud to drive now, and the only times I’m alone is when I’m sent to go pick up or drop something off for them. But I *value* those little periods of time, and will happily do it for them all day cause those are the times when my thoughts and actions are truly me, even if I’m not talking the whole time. I’m me without any input and it sounds silly, but truly that’s what’s getting me through staying home with them and completing school

That’s very noble of you to take care of your siblings but u were not put on this earth to be free childcare for your parents at 21 u should be living your life and learning about yourself and the world around u, it was easier for me to stay home and do school but so much more fulfilling to work and struggle but live life how I wanted

I have always felt I was multidimensional. I love fashion and beauty and I’m smart. 💖💕I’m getting my engineering degree because I need a stable job that pays good👍🏽 . I started my own marketing agency because I like social media. But I also want to become a beauty/lifestyle influencer and run for Miss Universe. And a stay at home wife. I feel very tired and unfocus sometimes and I doubt myself but I don’t want to live in regret and I know my potential.

Hi shallon! I just wanted to let you know that your teachings of boundaries and warmblooded behavior allowed me to pick myself again after one of the hardest seasons in my life. I failed out of nursing school by .2 of a point. No, I know its crazy, nursing schools don't round. But by taking your advice, I set boundaries and watched people that actually weren't on my team, fade away. I didn't realize the stress they added until it was no longer present. I was accepted this week into a new nursing program and will be successful this time! Thank you for everything! 💗

Great video I work in finance accounts for a hospital and a runner… before these two, people only categorized me as case manager or social worker … I reached a low point on my life. I realized I fallen low and it was not for me, the human service field but it was what I graduated with in college … I was afraid at first to try other careers and hospital administration found me?!!! and surprise how quickly I fit in, and was good at it?!! I went back to the love of running it was not easy but I found my way the voices inside me where to strong.. thanks for this video it validates me 💕🙏👋🏼 I’m sure there is more there if I keep listening!

Mourn, take your time, but when you feel ready, wipe your tears, put your badass face on, and keep thriving. Your friend would want to see you thrive and honor your friendship by kicking ass. Sending you a big hug, and many positive and healing vibes.

Shallon! Thank you so so much for this video 💗 I’ve always preached to every single girl I know (and even commented on some of your videos I think) on how important it is to have your own dreams, goals and ambitions. Ppl usually see me and think I’m like a sugar baby or had everything handed to me either cuz I’m pretty or my dad pays for it. But the truth is soooo far from that! I work as a lab assistant in a research clinic. I have a diploma and a bachelors, both graduated with honours. Everything that I own (even my car and “luxury” items) are all bought with my own money that I’ve worked hard for. And I’m soon going to be starting a business with my dad with medical equipments. It’s crazyyyy what ppls misconceptions about you are based solely off first impressions or their perception of you. I love proving them wrong and leaving them flabbergasted! My advice to anyone reading this, don’t stop chasing your dreams! Keep going!! Life is too short to worry about other ppls opinions of you. The only one that should matter is yours! Prove everyone who doubted you wrong and leave them speechless. Thanks for coming to my tedtalk :)

Shallon, this video is exactly what I needed today. I graduated university and have high ambitions to get my psychology doctorate and continue on the path of research that I was on during college. I love academia and I'm good at it..... but my heart has the travel bug. I went on a short solo trip around the Balkans this year and decided to put off grad school for another year to go long term backpacking and get certified to teach abroad. None of my ffriends and family understand this. They see it as a "waste" and not serving to my goal of becoming a psychologist, but to me that couldn't be more opposite. I want to discover myself, the world and different people (cliche, I know), and I think this real-world experience would actually benefit my ability to be a good therapist and researcher one day. I know that I will regret not exploring this passion of mine, but it's so hard when no one around me fully supports or understands it. THANK YOU for solidifying to me that I can have more than one passion even if they don't seem to traditionally align. I hate the idea that we can only follow one straight path and only be one thing!

The thing that is so amazing about Kim is that she didn’t just figure on using her celebrity. She could have easily done that and she could make things happen just on her name and influence. In fact she did do that. She went to the White House and batted her eyelashes and got a pardon for someone she felt had a raw deal. But that wasn’t enough, Kim decided to level up and acquire the knowledge to do as much as she can for her goal of how she wants to help people. That’s really admirable.
