She climbs at my local gym SCC. She’s still incredibly strong and always has her dog with her haha she’s so nice and I NEVER knew she competed at such a high level...hope she gets back to it!

I love watching these. Putting pro climbers into context makes it so much more interesting to watch because you start to see what is special about the way they climb!

Ahah, certainly did not expect to find my reddit post from two years ago featured in your video, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only fan of Megan's climbing style. She really was one of the best competitors in the world in the two years where she did competitions on the main circuit. She still posts some climbing videos here and there on her Instagram but competing does not seem to appeal to her anymore. Anyway, great work as always! And subscribed now.

I grew up in Colorado Springs going to SCC, the local climbing gym operated by the Mascarenas family. Megan was always a gentle, introverted person, although one of the kindest and most humble I’ve ever met. As Megan improved to competition climbing, she became a local celebrity and people would climb at SCC just to talk to her and watch her. Being the kind person she was, she always engaged with everyone. But I think the fame became overwhelming and exhausting, and started to detract from the joy she found in climbing. Now, she has finally begun to outgrow her fame and seems to be doing much better in school and climbing the things she wants to climb, on her own time, without the pressure of competition. She’s awesome, and I’m glad that she’s happier (although we won’t get to see as many insane toe hooks in competition :/ )

Please continue making these, I always look forward to watching the next one!

I usually refuse to do things the way they are intended and love climbing and thats why i consider the Beta Break series to be the best content available out off all the content that exists even outside youtube

I've seen her in my climbing gym before. The one day her and some other people were trying to do the same problem with as many different betas as possible. It's crazy watching her climb.

@@AlbertOkay I told her to cartwheel on the footholds into a bathang as a joke and she seemed to actually consider it...

That back flex is insane! What a way to control your momentum. It was like a static stop, where normally it's a flail and a pray to the gods.

I remember seeing other climbers, like Alex Puccio doing a route that was dynamic or just required a lot of strength, and then Megan would go and do it in a controlled static method that just looked like the best way to me.

Beta break is one of my favourite series on KZread at the moment

I haven’t stretched in over two months Because of quarantine, but I am now sprawled out on my floor with my feet by my face. I’m sure anyone else watching this video is doing the same 😂

Watching the female comp climbs are always amazing watching the level of flexibility that happens with some problems

I can hardly climb v3 and don't even know what breaking the beta means but that last move made me scream out loud haha amazing!

Saw her last move more than a hundred times and never knew that she retired !(or not) Thx for the video man!

Most of the time, I have no idea, what you are talking about. But the way you show other peoples' accomplishments is unique. I love the fact that you show not only amazing feats of strength, but also describe incredible personalities and in a way encourage to take something with me: achieving goals is all about the way YOU wanna do it, not the way it's supposed to do. A goal is defined y the person who sets it. I really think you found a very good way to define the word inspiration.Thank you.

A few hours ago I didn't even know what a beta was, and now I'm straight up audibly gasping watching that toe hook. This series is absolutely fantastic.

I don't know anything about climbing but i am having so much fun--and learning so much--watching these videos! I love how accessible and positive they are.

Rockstars, huh? We had a rehearsal room in the church basement where was also a boulder wall. There was enough space for both activities. Climbers joked that it's the only boulder with live music, but today I learned that it's not that unusual. ;)

Most of the time there are dynamic moves that can't be reached by that. You lose time and energy too. Difficult to win. You still need the reach for it. Very difficult balance

Most likely the idea was to mantle up using your left arm to push or do a muscleup movement to get over!
