You know, hearing Megalon's origin makes me think he's actually the hero of his movie. He was defending his people who were rightfully mad at what the surface world for putting their home in danger with their nuclear testing. So really Godzilla and Jet Jaguar are more of the villains in this

My guess for how Megalon can work in the MonsterVerse: He is currently hibernating within the ruins of Memphis, Egypt, where he was once also worshipped by the Egyptians as the sacred scarab Khepri. He has the ability to burrow underground using his drills, spit concentrated napalm and shoot beams from his horn, and he once used these abilities in a fit of rage (this resulted in Megalon eventually becoming feared by various Hollow Earth civilizations). Megalon himself eventually teams up with Gigan when he was losing in a war between Earth kaiju and extraterrestrials and their kaiju (which leads to the Seatopians, themselves being one of the remnants of the Hollow Earth civilization, forging an alliance with the aliens). As a result of his betrayal, the kaiju of Earth will always attack Megalon for being a dirty coward and a traitor to their kind. Megalon's betrayal was also recorded in an Egyptian document as "The Betrayal of the Beetle God", and this document also mentioned how a Seatopian settlement was completely wiped out by Sekhmet, a crocodile kaiju called Sobek, a scorpion kaiju called Serqet, and a bird kaiju called Garuda (who was worshipped by the Egyptians as Ra the sun god), all of which proceed to devour the inhabitants.

Also, here's what the other original kaiju should look like: Sobek (Titanus Sobek): Similar to Lizzie from Rampage (the movie) Serqet (Titanus Serqet): A gigantic scorpion (referencing the movie The Black Scorpion), with a heavily armored exoskeleton Garuda/Ra (Titanus Garuda): A giant bird of prey with elements from an eagle, a falcon, a vulture, an Archaeopteryx, and a phoenix. His beak is filled with sharp teeth and his wings have claws

I feel like megalon deserves more love tbh, it has an interesting backstory, a lot of character and a unique design that really makes it stand out. Although much like titanosaurus, gorosaurus and varan, it really deserved more love than it got, hopefully when Toho gets the license back they might bring back some underused classics like this badass yet childish bug. Megalon fan club where you at?!

Atleast Pipeworks gave Megalon respect. Megalon is one of the few bug like characters that I like, although im not happy on how he can be burned by his own napalm bomb.

Megalon is also referenced in a Calvin & Hobbes comic where Calvin pretends he is Godzilla and his mom is Megalon. At the start of the comic, Calvin states that its weird how the actors mouths keep moving after their done speaking. Since the comic directly says Megalon in it, its safe to assume that the movie he watched was Godzilla Vs. Megalon.

Megalon looks like the type that would drink pool water if you told him it would help clean his insides. No hate though, I love this dummy.

I think Monsterverse can easily put Megalon in it. Like have Megalon's species be the cause of the hallow Earth Theory. Megalon's are the reason why so many other Titans where able to hide so easily.

It’s almost a crime Megalon hasn’t had another appearance in film.

Godzilla vs. Megalon was the first Godzilla movie I ever watched. I still have the very VHS tape of it that my grandfather bought for me back when I was in kindergarten, 30 years ago. My mom is forbidden from chucking it out on me, not because of what it is, but because of who gave it and what it means to me. Gramps got me hooked on Godzilla, I never looked back.

These Kaiju profiles are amazing 👏 Thanks for going so far beyond the movies with your excellent research. Godzilla vs Megalon is forever a personal favorite. I had no idea there was so much more Megalon content out there!

Megalon is like a toddler at the toy store, he wanted a toy or candy bar and his mum said no, so he just throws a tantrum. in the end, he's adorable and you can't help but love him. I watched the movie when I was little and Megalon just speaks to my inner child. He's easily entertained, Gets mad easy, he's no guardian, he's just a misguided child that needs to be taught. then I remember this is a kaiju, they really don't give a rat's ass.

YES! This is back again, I wanna see Megalon get back on the big screen again perhaps with his villainous pal Gigan either in the Monsterverse or a future Toho film Megalon needs more love he’s an interesting Kaiju.

Megalon is so cool to me and is one of the more unique designs of the Showa era. I want him in more media. Please add him to monsterverse

There should be a spin-off series, or a point in the Godzilla series, where Mothra and Megalon work together or fight. I mean, they're both insect based gods that protect the Earth (albeit, the latter protects a specific portion), so I feel that they should have crossed paths at least once.

I was always a fan of how versatile this Kaiju is.

I always thought Megalon and Gigan were buddies because they both understood what it was like to have wildly impractical hands. Great for fighting and what not, not so great when you need to wipe your own monster ass. Adding chainsaws to poor Gigan just made it worse for him no doubt.

Megalon was always my favorite as a kid and will always be. He has the coolest weapons and design imo!

The fact that he has more abilities and weapons than most other kaiju, just shows he’s one of the most OP kaiju to be created. People might think he looks ridiculous, but he’s so damn strong 😂

Megalon was my #3 favorite monster to use in the Destroy all Monsters video game and his combos were super easy to use, along with Destroyah and Godzilla 2000.
