    This is why I love KZread. Thanks! I've used brushes and compressed gas in the past but didn't unscrew the hood to get right inside. Feel confident in doing that now, so it's on my list of things to do asap! Great video.

    The cooling coils can be easily lifted and removed and ran under hot water faucet. Then simply replaced. Don't have to go through the trouble of brushing everything. Thanks.

    @@zhansayabulegenova358 Firstly check to see if there is any morevment at all from the fan, even very small movements which make it look like it;s trying to start. Also listen to see if you can hear any buzzing or similat noises. This would indicate that there is electricity going into it but the fan is not spinning. Check the wires to make sure they are plugged in correctly and there are no damages. It will either be with the fan mechanism or the electrics.

    On the magahome YT channel he vacuums it all out - and takes the fan off - rather than brushing it into the mechanism. -

  • @jamb027

    It doesn't get brushed into the mechanism. Personally I found that it wasn't just dust that came off with a vacumme, it needed to be physially removed with brushes first. And even then, using the compressed air was much more effective than vacumming.

    Could I use a hoover after brushing the dust off? I don't have a can of compressed air to hand right now

  • @jamb027

    @jamb027

    Yeah you can but may not be as effective. I found the dust on my had a slight stickiness to it. If there are any parts the vaccume doesn't work well on, get a drinking straw and squeeze it while blowing through it. This will allow the pressure to be more intense and you can direct it at the dust. I have done this before when cleaning the inside of a computer and don't have compressed air to hand.

    I've been trying to find how on earth to do this for about 2 years so thank U!!! Is the dust the reason why the water comes out hot?? Where do U get the compressed air from? What sort of screw driver do U use? Is there any reason why U do not hoover the dust out at all? I hope I am able to manage this and not muck the machine up! Wish me luck!

  • @jamb027

    Hello Laura, 1: The water comes out hot simply because it has boiled in the main chamber and risen up. The top part cools it enough to become water again, but it is still warm. 2: The compressed air you can just get from eBay or somewhere similar. It's used a lot in computer repair and often called "compressed air duster". 3: The screwdriver was (from what I remember), just a standard crosshead. If you get a small screwdriver set with swappable heads, you will find one to fit. 4: The only reason I didn't vaccume is because I didn't think of doing it at the time. But I don't think it would have done much because the dust was stuck inside the grill parts and kind of slightly oily/thick. I think I got better effect with the compressed air, rather than hoover. 5: Good luck, I'm sure it will go just fine. Take your time and lay out your parts first.

    I have the H2O Labs which looks near identical. The fan starts to make a screaming noise after about 30 seconds. I assume the bearings are going out or something. Any chance you have a part number for the fan motor?

    Did this distiller come with a predrilled hole for venting VOC gases? I don't think the current models of Megahome distillers have this type of vent anymore.

  • @jamb027

    @jamb027

    Not sure. Where exactly would it be? I thought that many of the VOC's were dealt with by the carbon filter.

    I would first check that the plactic top of the lid is fitted onto the fan strucutre correctly & that all the screws went back into in fully. Then check the seal around the bottom of the lid. Then check that it is seated correctly when you put the lid on. I have had similar situations before (but only with other brands than Megahome) and all it seemed to be was that the lid was not seated correctly when I put it on.

    Could this level of dust cause the machine to not work properly? My distiller periodically turns itself off now and it is really annoying.

  • @jamb027

    @jamb027

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes it definately could because the dust acts an an insulation, therefore restricting the excape of heat out the top. Also it could be restricting the fan from working corectly. May even need some lubrication when you have de-dusted it. It could also be the electronic monitor which work out when it is empty of water and auto turns it off, is faulty. Or even the power lead is faulty. Start with the de-dust ASAP.
