yeah it pops too much for me, thought the whole kit sounded overproduced, but i understand they did that so they could elevate the drumming as it is a drum play through after all.

He's killing this drum part, and presumably without heroin. Props sir!

I can't believe how restrained he is in his playing. I've been a fan of Dirk since the early 2000's when he was in Scarve (check asap), composing and performing INSANE drum parts. Not a single flashy bit was added to this playthrough, NOTHING to suggest his massive technical chops and master's brain. Hats fucking off, the song comes first and Dirk knows it. Wow

Same. I love when drummers play the actual song and don't overplay. I listened to Dirk since his first Soilwork appearance. (Soilwork fan before Dirk also.) He is definitely holding back, but very reasonably for this video.

Not just smooth, but powerful. Dirk is the man.

Dirk should cover all songs from the first two albums. He's the only drummer to capture both Gar and Nick at their best!

That snare though... sounds amazing.

Dirk is a badass! He plays previous drummers work in their style and so he is obviously talented. I am eager to hear his style in the next album!!! I suspect it'll be at least as good as adlers work on dystopia

I can literally hear Gar playing through this guys hands. Hes spot on and doesnt miss a single beat!

It’s so nice to have a Megadeth drummer who can live up to Gar!!

Really captures that weird fun energy of Gars drumming. This guy is a good fit!

This has got to be one of the fastest metal songs of the 80s.

Tempo wise, not really, but the riffs are much more difficult than your average fast thrash song of the era. Dave and Chris were quite coked out of their minds when they wrote this, lol.

Wow, I've never heard the drums so clear and never realize it was so technical! Fucken bad ass!

That's why I love Megadeth.

If only music nowadays could be this awesome and sound so unique Megadeth = True Talent

Ok. That was amazing. Dirk is the only one besides Gar and Menza who played the song on drums like it was supposed to be played. And now i'm psyched about the new album even more.

Man I love the raw, no holds barred vibe on those early Deth albums...my favs. Dirk recaptures that energy with this performance. I love it.

Nick was the drummer in Megadeth when I was a teen and discovered them & metal. I'll probably never not think of him as my favorite - but - I must admit Dirk is probably the best drummer that has ever helmed the kit for Dave. For me, I see Dirk, Gar and Nick all as equals in what they've done (and are doing) for Megadeth. I'm back now for probably the 20th time watching this playthru and it never gets old, never fails to grab my undivided attention. This is some EXCELLENT drumming - I am really REALLY looking forward to Dirk getting his place on the next album.

Gar's drum set was like a haunted house.

Great performance! And it's even better with my favorite Tama drums.

Wish I could give this 20 thumbs up. Always loved Gar's drumming on this but Dirk sounds note for note perfect and the production of this just sounds so crisp and punchy. Great job!

It's nice to see Gars parts finally played correctly. Kudos to Dirk. Maybe there was a reason all the other drummers did not- or could not replicate Gars incredible blend of jazz fusion drumming.

I seriously believe that if you can nail this drumming you can play anything I mean literally anything

How I would like Gar Samuelson to be alive to see and hear this, AMAZING MEGADETH!!!

Possibly in April 2019. Dave M said it could coincide with the new festival they're putting together, which I think starts in April. 95% chance a new album in 2019, 100% a new song.

@@salvadorrosales3540 it's not the amount of records, its how long they want to keep going. I'd rather get as much new music as possible instead of them waiting too long to do another album. They will tour for about 2 years after the new album comes out, so they will be around until at least 2021.

Salvador Rosales Dave has hinted of retirement for ages. Not worried one bit, he loves to do music. And with guys like Junior, Kiko and Dirk. The new album HAS to kick major ass.

what a beast ... and an artist - perfectly got the song - not only technically - that.. many can do (sort of lol) - he has the same groove as Gar - he got it very well.

I'm not even a drummer and I find myself watching this guy's videos. He's great..very tight drumming. This was perfect!

New respect for Gar.

One of my favorite Megadeth songs of all time!!

The album sounds amazing. Right away the first thing I noticed was how much better the drums sounded.

I love soilwork and when i heard that dirk was no longer their drummer i was sad, but when i discovered that he was the new megadeth's drummer... well... that was freaking awesome!!! He's the best drummers i've ever had the pleasure to see and hear playing during the years and knowing that he's playing in my favourite band makes me feel... i don't have words it's amazing He has the skills, energy, speed, feel... he has all Good choice Dave good choice To me this is the best line-up they've ever had I've read that a new album will probably arrive in 2019 and i'm sure it will kicks our asses really really hard I can't wait Dirk we love you \m/

Finally a Megadeth drummer to do Gar and Nick justice. He's got the groove, precision and energy. A true successor. The best Megadeth drummer to sit behind the drums since Nick left. Dave's gotta keep him.
