It's great how you can ask Dave a simple, short question like "What's your favourite Megadeth record?" and he starts talking for several minutes about all sorts of cool stuff. You don't even need an interviewer to ask the questions.

His looks didnt change much from 1990-2010, since 2011 (around the time he had neck surgery) his look started to aged very quick.

"Inside I'm probably 460 years old." Hahah.

Crazy how people aged. He looked the same as he did in 93 just more tired and comfortable. And than the 2010 hits and he became Putin and his voice drop.

I love how once he gets talking, he just jumps from subject to subject all the while talking to the interviewer and having debates with the guy even though he's now drifted off from the original question further than Hansel and Gretel. I don't know if that is a trait you should probably like in a person but there's this very cool energy about him when he starts going and won't stop talking. lol

He looks in this interview so amazing beautiful ❤

In fact, he begins to age in 2010... Seems like he aged like 10 years in only 2 years :/

Yea, I was watching some Megadeth 90s interviews the other day, its crazy he's still looked exactly the same for almost 2 decades. Too bad about the neck issue and then the throat cancer. You could tell surgery , chemo, medications ,takes away not just his look but also his vocal strength. Watch the Download 2007 concert, he nailed the vocal on Mechanix with ease.

but even when dave was on drugs, he was always pulling through, always working. the other members... not so much. if you want a better understanding you should read dave's book.

wow these last 5 years hit him real hard.

13 is a good old fashioned no thrills metal record. Its a good 7/10 record. Lots of fun. Considering the conditions they had to make it on and the limited time limit they did very well.

Just saw some Dave videos with some negative comments on his looks. It's about the MUSIC, not player/singer/whomever looking like a pretty boy. Dave's overcome ALOT, so have some respect.

He's fucking handsome. *_*

Called gettin old.. Dave had pretty young looks right up till about 2011-2012.. Eventually, it catches up to us all..

I think it's a mixture. Marty was getting into a lot of different music at the time, and Dave allowed the others to have more freedom with the songwriting. Given that he mentions "Guessing what people want to hear" you're going to have problems. I don't blame Marty at all, but I think that Megadeth is a metal band that needs to stay that way, and Dave needs to be the one driving the car. Dave and Metallica may have split for that reason if he had never been kicked in the first place.

Risk failed for various reasons, its not just musical direction. CTE, Youthanasia and Cryptic were all top 10 albums that were released the height of grunge & alternative era and Megadeth still headlining festivals through out the decade even closing out the Woodstock. However, the late 90s saw the emergence of nu-metal + hip hop , this was when Megadeth started to lost their popularity , even Pantera latest album sold less than a half of their previous one. Metallica perhaps did he right thing by not putting out any album between 1997-2003. Although its more of accidental because they had to deal with internal problems at the time. Lets look it this way, if album like Endgame or Dystopia or even Peace sells came out in 1999 or 2001, do you think it will be in top 10 , go platinum, receives grammy nods, wins grammy etc? Absolutely not. My point is, at that particular time, an old school traditional metal band like them was destined to fail.

Wow, I'm proud that you people didn't say shit like "mustaine's on drugs again, maaan". No, "maaan", it's all about being tired, touring constantly, writing a lot of complex riffs and solos, taking care of all the stuffs within (and involving) the band (for instance, the crew, record company etc.) and not being able to sleep a lot during nights because of many of these stuff. Being a musician is not only about playing music constantly, it also means being responsible with everything you do.

Now he is inside and outside 460 years old! Great guy though! \m/

Yes, it is true Megadeth has been on a non-stop tour since 2005 from the "The Blackmail The Universe World Tour" .Without mention the fact that Dave has released a new album every two years. This is amazing but no too much good for Dave's healthy :/

I'm a big fan of ][v][EGADET][-][ & Dave Mustaine & even bought one of his custom signature Dean "Rust in Peace"Flying V guitars because I love Dave & Megadeth! Now with that being said & listening to Dave in this interview it kind of confuses me how he bad talked about Chris Poland,Gar Samuelson,Chuck Buhler etc for being drug addicts when himself was no better as he & David Ellefson would on tour have to hit the redlight districts to score heroine.& Mustaine went to rehab 15 times.

2010 was a bad year for Dave aging wise

he looked fine in 2009 but in 2010 he changed quick, I think he needs a break, hes been touring forever.

Does Dave really think we believe that he let Marty dictate the direction his band goes? Dave did Risk because he wanted a number 1 hit. I'm curious about on whom he will blame the desaster that is the Super Collier song.

constant touring, problems with his neck, inability to work out... basically just a shit ton of stress. And for some reason, people seem to age overnight once they hit 50. o_O

I don't know brother. He looks fine since late 2012. He did look messed up early 2012. But yeah, he looked like a 25 year old in 2008.

You're so right. This is the last time he looked Dave Mustaine. Now he looks like he's hit 70 years of age with Parkinson's. It must be the three surgeries. But with all that money and determination can't he just fix it?! We'd all love to see the Mustaine of those days, at least a shadow of him!

He went through a serious surgery at the same time he started to age, and he started putting in weight.

saw a recent video of his,looks and sounds much better

He started eating sweets to combat his body's addiction to drugs, so he put on weight. Fat usually goes to your face first, so his face is pudgier now. He's still fucking awesome, so it doesn't matter. lol

Whats with the interviewer???, he sounds very afraid and seems shivering also, just bcoz Dave might knock him out anytime...

Goddammit, It seems that the drugs kept him healthful,now he's out of that he's deteriorating more and more!!!... Just kiddin

Why does Dave always blame Marty for the way that Risk turned out??? In one breath he claims that its his band and he has the final say in everything Megadeth...except for Risk lol... Overall I think it has some great song writing too...

James does the same with load and reload. Blames it on Lars and Kirk even though you can tell the songs mean a lot to him when he sings them live. Maybe is just an ego thing.

He's just fat, tbh, he doesn't look that bad now, he just needs to lose some weight. His face looks too round right now, before you could see his cheekbones and that made him look way better
