    Good review. Having 2 of these helps a ton. 1 for braid and 1 for floro. Every day I fish the madbulls I become more in love with them. I have a third one on the way. Works great for the reaction baits you mentioned. Where this really shines for me is that it brings me back to the days of dialing in a rod. You have a model that you put so much time in that it feels like an extension of your body. This is now that rod for me. I can pick it up and do most reaction baits with it. Cranks, topwater, chatterbaits, spinnerbait, buzzbaits, etc. I went down the rabbit hole of having a rod for every specific technique imaginable and there comes a point where you either need to bring 50 rods each time out and you have to spend tons of time dialing in each rod. It’s nice to grab 2 of these and know you have a large category of moving baits covered. I’ve also always preferred shorter rods so the length is great for me. I can cast basically as far as my 7’6 rods with it. Just buy another one and you’ll love them even more. 😜

    I agree it is one of my favorite rods. I love the grips on the P5's. It is one of those types of rods that always seems to be in your hand and not on your deck.

    I think you mentioned everything the mad bull is really good at. Squarebills has become a favorite of mine to throw on this as well. (That evoke 2.0) I own 2 madbulls and at one point it was the only rod I reached for because top water season! The handle when wet was the downside but it didn’t bother me at all. Oh I happen to throw bigger jerk baits on the mad bull like the ito shiner for example. I think it does a good job handling it.

    The Smallmouth I'm holding in my profile picture was caught on the Madbull, and it will most definitely fish Rapala DT- 6 to DT-10 and equivalent crankbaits with authority. It also fish's the Megabass Magdraft 5" to 6" pre-rigged swimbaits, River2Sea Ruckus Lipless crankbait and the Whopper Plopper 90 size. I have it paired with a Shimano Aldebaran 51 reel that's spooled with Power Pro Super SlickV2 15lb.braid and I use Sunline Super Sniper Flourocarbon with 8lb. to 14lb. leader. The Madbull is an excellent multi purpose rod. My personal favorite presentation is the Megabass Sonic Side or River2Sea Biggie Smalls squarebill crankbaits.

    I love this rod. I throw shallow cranks,spinner baits, chatter baits,lipless cranks,top water ploppers and walking baits, pretty much any reaction type lure this rod will handle it. I even like throwing 3 to 5 inch jig hook swim baits on it. Love your gear reviews keep them coming.

    You’re definitely right about the warranty. That’s why I’m surprised that so many folks sell these P5’s close to retail on Facebook. I wouldn’t buy a P5 or NRX+ without the warranty.

    I run Sunline Defier Armilo on mine. I don't mind throwing mono with shallow running squarebills. That way I can throw whatever I want. Topwater or Crank. I have other rods to throw mid depth style cranks with fluoro.

    I use my Madbull for Carolina rigs and it's great. You mentioned sensitivity but didn't really go into it. This rod is so sensitive that you can actually feel the fish just nibbling on the bait and/or actually swallowing it. I have mine paired with shimano's lightest reel Aldebaran, which makes this combo super super light.

    Great review. I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. This rod is a jack of all trades for reaction baits, but a master of none with the possible exception of a lucky craft 2.5. It never truly found a home in my lineup so I am selling it. I picked up the 7 foot Rebellion glass rod to throw squarebills and was truly impressed. Weights a gram less than the Madbull and got it for $170 with your Omnia coupon code.

    @@shanekelley1824 shallow cranks 1/4 to 5/8 are fantastic on that rod. You can throw a lipless, mini max chatterbait, 3/8 jackhammer, smaller whopper plopper (it did fine with a 90). The rod is rated up to an ounce, but I haven’t pushed it past 3/4.

    I was honestly kind of hoping you would compare the mad bull to other great rods that would be similar or compete closely with like either a steez rod or an NRX+ rod. The main reason for that since many of those are fairly available now and I would prefer buying either of those more since the warranty on both the steez and NRX+ are way better. Thanks

  • @jimbo0411

    @jimbo0411

    Жыл бұрын

    Being the swingfire is glass composite, it's gotta be a little softer and more parabolic. Swingfire is pretty hard to find now. Hook up tackle says swingfire is good at throwing lighter small cranks where the madbull is graphic parabolic more for 1/2 oz and over weights, bigger treble hook 2.5 and larger walking baits. The swingfire would probable feel more softer. I have the madbull and a Megabass Tomahawk glass crank rod. I actually use an ALX glass rod for chatterbait than the madbull but it will work.
