That was my dad’s car! Up until November 2020, we loved this car so much, but had to sell it because of the running costs. It is the same number plate, and I still remember when we had the pioneer sound system installed in Hounslow! I am so glad to see that you are taking care of him! (We called the car “TRO” because of the number plate. I find it Crazy that I saw this video and had so many memories of flooring it down the north circular. Thank you for taking care of it.

We had a mk5 r32 as a daily for 4 years and it wasn't as bad as people say on fuel. Feels like driving a tank but the tax is a killer for the performance you get. We sold ours and got a mk7 R. The R32 got loads more attention and comments than what the R does. Not many cars sound as good as the R32.👍

Another cracking video mate 🙌🏼 can tell how much the guy loves that car when he talks about it his face lights up! True enthusiast 👊🏼

Really enjoyed this one 👍 Had a Mk5 R32 on an 08 imported from Japan. The best thing was that being an import it was extremely low mileage and very clean, with tax only £300. Was deresonated and the sound absolutely epic - there’s a tunnel near my house and to this day I can hear one do a pull and know exactly what it is. Not many cars that are as distinctive. Now moved on to the Mk7 R, and while it’s a much faster and competent car all round, I do miss the sound of that V6. The Mk4/5 R32 deserves its place in the line up of ‘must drive’ cars and is a definitive hot hatch legend.

@@rjj00 - purely because I don’t tend to keep my cars for that long really - a year to 18 months max, and sometimes even less than that. I lose money on most of them or break even at best (I’m quite obsessive about maintenance), but you get one life and I’ve just got too many cars to try!

Love my mk4 R32, so much that im taking it off the road and now looking for a Mk5 as a new daily!

I know there are not the quickest but they sound so nice. I remember growing up these were THE car to have and remember the noise from back then

My buddy had this car and it is one of my favorite cars ever I tried to buy one but at the time they were very expensive for a used car and I regret not buying it new when I worked for vw as a salesman And many years later I bought the mk2 audi tt vr6 manual and it’s basically the same car 🚙 and it’s a joy to drive 😊

Love to see you supporting smaller KZreadrs Calvin! They say don't meet your hero's but worked out well for Mizan, nothing but good to say about you 🙌🏼 Great content, really enjoyed watching this 👌🏼

I’ve got a 57 DSG R32 and I love it. Slow by Morden standards and rubbish on fuel but bags of character.

Miss my R32. Slow & cost a bomb but smiles every single drive. The crackles are a bit ott for my liking.

Had my mk4 r32 nearly six years now, a couple of times I’ve thought about selling it but can’t bring myself to do it

I love how he described it as not a popping and banging map, but more a crackle map. Then you drive it and it goes off like an AK 😂😂😂😂 r32 has always been my guilty pleasure, had the equivalent Cupra r and s3 with the 1.8t bam engines as I could never justify the MPG 😭 great car 👏

@@CarNitty I remember at the time I got the s3 I had a gttdi mk4, it did 500 miles to a tank and all the guys with r32’s were raving when they managed to get 220 😭😭😭

This is the best R32 I have seen the way he done the mods so sick nothing looks tacky

My MK5 R32 ran a 13.8 @98 mph & has 215k original on the dash and still run gr8 0-60 was in the 5 sec range

Loved my mk5 R32 dsg not the fastest thing in the world but they certainly do not deserve the bad reputation they have for being slow. Sound incredible 🎶 My example was completely reliable unlike all the turbo charged stuff I’ve owned.

I bought this car in October, my son came up on a train to collect it love the video as much as I love the car.

I was (still am) a massive fan of the Mk4 and Mk5 R32 Golf, they may not be fast but it’s the noise of those engines that does it for me, they can sound absolutely savage 😂

Really love a R32 but they cost fortune to maintain and run they sound unbelievable

We had one of these for a bit, the sound of it is utterly raw, loved it.

This has to be the cleanest R32 I've ever seen.

The way car nitty does car journalism is so unique and entertaining! Future collab again hopefully

Current owner of a mk5 R32 in the US. Replacing the notorious mechatronic this week, but other issue a super clean gray version. It’s a hoot of a car. Owned mine since 2015, was my first “real” car I bought myself with my first “real” job. I am all about OEM+ vibes, but as stock as necessary to keep its personality intact. I will never sell it.

After adding the turbo setup to my MkV R32 I noticed the exhaust notes slightly changes. High flow sport catalytic converter 3" downpipe with stock exhaust sounds so fucking good! Nice gurgling rumbler

Yeah i get what you mean. I was worried it would totally ruin the unique sound. I also run a custom sports cat into a resonated Milltek exhaust ,with a slight crackle on the over-run. Still got plenty of character 🤙

I run Lucifer manifolds and cats with standard cat back. Sounds just right to me 👍

Had a new M3 in 2003. Had a R32 in 2006. Although the R32 was not as quick, it was way more fun. And better built.

Launch control def would've gotten it around 6 second and maybe mid to high 5's depending on how good of a launch you got. Even in my manual mk4 I was able to get 6.7 not launching the car

How does it crackle like that with the cats still in?? I have a mk2 TT with a 3.2 engine but I’m scared to put crackles with the cats still in because I’ve seen some bad things from it

It's a tune that I've had put on the car. If you've got aggressive map with proper pops and bangs, you'll destroy the cats over time but mine are light enough so they're not gonna cause issues.

@@CarNitty ohh okay so as long as the crackles aren’t too bad then it should be fine. I mapped a Audi RS4 with pops and bangs… he said he was going to remove the cats but never did and ended up blowing up the engine 😐

These sound great and have a lot of character but like the guy said the performance is lacking. I remember absolutely murdering one of these in my 330Ci manual.

Nice car but I’d rather have it as a manual, and those pops and bangs are too much. No race car sounds like that 🤦‍♂️

R36 engine is not as well made as that of the R32. R36 direct injection less reliable. Pop and bang is not good for the engine.

7.7 seconds 😅😂, c'mon on man a 1.2 corsa is quicker 😂, at least its a sick as car 👌

Calvin, just a thought there is a channel called car obsession I watch sometimes that could do with abit of help, guys called aron he seems to put in alot of effort with the videos you can tell with the quality and editing but the algorithm has be against him, his views don't make sense they are so low. I feel bad for him 👎🏼

They are slow and absolutely shite on fuel, plus the 12v VR6 sounds way better. Edition 30 is the best mk5 by a long way

Edition 30 is not the best. More powerful yes, consumes less fuel yes, but the sound is not great and not from 4motion. And especially less reliable than an R32.
