The most bad-tempered, badass dog in our rather large village, was a miniature Yorkie. The owners had to put a tight-knit chicken wire on the bottom of their gate, because she would come flying out of the house and bark & growl at anyone who was _walking past_ the house! If we were going in, we could pick her up and she'd be fine 😂.

I had a silkie x Maltese that would go wild; snarling, growling and barking at people on the other side of the wire screen door. Her standing up with her little snarling face pressed against the wire would quite terrify people - but as soon as we opened the door and they were able to pet her, all was good. It seems like it was was her way of expressing she was furious they were on the other side of the door and they should just come in (and pet her)

But the little one was really fully growling , lifting her lip and snarling, it was quite alarming to people. The pair together could cause people to nearly pass out with fear although she was very little she was alarming and you could kind of see people telling themselves it was okay as she was just a little dog; then hearing the commotion the big dog would calmly wander into the background and the sight of a big dog, although he was calm and quiet would tip them over the edge to be frightened 😁 poor visitors

Wonder if we should've tried this with our last pitbull 😂. She was a nervous, runt of the litter. She hated having her paws touched and would politely pull them from you, tuck them back under herself, and then give this apologetic look like she's sorry for inconveniencing you 😅. Trimming her nails was always a battle, and sadly, I did cut too low a time or two, so that didn't help either. I began going to a vet, though, who always trimmed her claws and as the dog would become an immoveable stone when at the vet's, they were able to trim hers with zero issue. Yes, vet visits became my go-to for nail trims 😅. Otherwise, it took two people and in a house of adults with varying schedules, that was often too difficult to sync.

Honestly it could just easily be that he wasn't desensitized to nail trimming as a pup! It's a really important thing to do as many dogs don't like having their paws touched. People- not necessarily the owner in this case, mind- often think it's not important to do with smaller dogs because they "can't hurt you". But of course, it can hurt them- being stressed like this isn't great on a dog, or it's little heart. And as Jimmy proves, they CAN do damage if they feel they need to! I have a 10 lb chi, and I'm sure her bite would hurt if she were biting for fear!

She was supposed to be my wife's dog (I was NEVER a fan of small dogs, hated 'em), but the second she brought her home I fell in love and apparently so did Luna 😂 So... I guess she ended up a daddy's girl instead 😭 The amount of patience you have is astounding. Every time I watch one of your videos I'm always blown away. My senior Yorkie, Maggie, is the only dog I’ve ever had and I can’t imagine having any other breed. She has a snort or a grunt for every activity/emotion and it feels like we’re having an actual conversation with her because she responds with her little noises. I don’t know any other dog that’s so talkative. She’s so smart in a lot of ways but she’s also a major silly goose with so many little quirks. I love her so much ❤

As someone who has a dog who's part Yorkie, I can definitely say that having a Yorkie or Yorkie mix is not for the faint of heart. Don't get me wrong, Yorkies are super cute but between their incredible intelligence, their stubbornness, and their fighting spirit they can be quite the handful.

The fact he is so sensitive about his nails makes me wonder if a groomer accidentally cut them too short, or wasn’t careful how they handled him, and it left Jimmy very afraid of having his nails touched. Bc it kind of reminded me of one of my first visits to a dentist- idk if the tech was new/inexperienced, in a hurry, or just plain mean, but when they were using that metal pick they have for cleaning around the gum line, man did they stab and poke and practically slice at me. I’m still afraid of that thing to this day, even though every other time the techs have been very gentle and skilled. Hopefully Jimmy can be desensitized so that way he’s no longer so stressed about his nails.

@@topasu9454 Bc animals are often more human than we give them credit for. Also, god forbid we relate to another living creature. Also, it makes sense. Why else would a dog react That aggressively. I’m not saying there aren’t other reasons, but it seems plausible.

My Mom owned 3 yorkies (different times). She personally groomed all of them and was experienced enough to know how not to hurt them. One of them always acted like they were being actively murdered when she washed, combed, and clipped them. It was really funny watching it, because no matter how much they acting like they were dying, my Mom didn't stop and would scold them for being over-the-top instead 😂 Not a single Yorkie was like the other, they all had strikingly different personalities. So no matter what you're experience is with one, don't worry, there 10 other ones out there with a completely different personality.
