Being Asian, my parents are always throwing stereotypes of African Americans and Latinos so this resonated with me so much. My parents are all so conservative: being straight, marrying an Asian or White person, not hanging out with guys, etc. The marriage and the racism is honestly so relatable. I have a diverse friend group so there’s always some type of tension when we hang out because we all said our parents have said some racist comment about them. My mom said if I married an African American, she wouldn’t want to talk to me or him; she’s Chinese so she doesn’t even allow Japanese people. Knowing there’s people who can relate is so nice. Thank you for making this series. It really helps me being the only Chinese person in my friend group.

I'm really fortunate that bias doesn't affect my life. I'm half Asian bald white and I think it's really great to be able to experience two cultures, it really changes your view on a lot of stuff. Most of my friends are Asian, but they're always dissing on white people for the basic stereotypical shit tossed around. It makes me really uncomfortable bc it's exactly the same insulting stuff that they complain about against asians!! When ep 5 talked about cliques and everything I got really uncomfortable bc what if I wasn't half Asian? I doubt I'd even have a chance to make the friends i have today, so does that mean that a lot of my friendships are based on race? I'm also really thankful that they were able to cover some of these topics, it's good to work through this stuff even tho it still kinda hurts.. sorry that was long and random, I needed to write it out

I am soo happy that you guys have successfully accomplished this amazing step in your destiny! I am a 21 year old black female and I have been watching Wong Fu for probably a year in a half. One of my regrets in life is not discovering you guys sooner!! 😄 All your content is marvelous, and this series is on a whole new different level. It has touched on so many topics and have introduced a new thought process. Unfortunately I have been raised under the assumption that Asians aren't discriminated against because they are basically like white people a "model minority". So in my community we didn't even think of Asians as people that needed a voice, because everyone is so "successful". So I was never aware or even noticed the misrepresentations/prejudices against Asians in our American society. You don't know what you don't know, until someone tells you truth. I also remember a moment growing up where someone told me that Asians don't like black people. With an adult telling me this as a young person I took it as truth and it probably buried it's way into my subconscious and affected my social interactions. Of course now that I am older and woke I don't look at this anymore but look at people as individuals. I am now aware of the opportunities of social interactions without this tainted view. So glad you guys addressed that divide between Blacks and Asians! I am so happy for Wong Fu and everyone that supports you guys. I can't wait for the next season and all the amazing things you guys have in store. Keep up the great work and stay true to yourselves! P.S I voted for you guys on the Streamy's - I hope you guys win it!

All the things discussed in this series was stuff that I, as an Asian, was always aware about and I think it's great that our experiences are being shared with everyone! The last scene is very real for most of us; you don't marry a person, you marry their family. Loved yappie and I need it to continue! Congrats to you guys for creating such a great series, I hope more of the South Asian and Middle Eastern perspective is included in the next one ❤️

I think that it was great to bring the whole cast to talk about the different issues touched on in the series, I hope there will be a season two, I know maybe she didn't mean in that way but I felt like Janine describing the typical black girl as "thottie" and inspiring or woke black women that would do things like support black lives matters are the minority isn't the best comment, I feel alot of people can take that the wrong way because when I heard it, it didn't sit well with me, I'm not trying to take away from her experience but just something to keep in mind, Janine is my favourite character :) and it was refreshing to see a blasian and a blasian couple as in terms of interracial dating an Asian man and a black woman is the most rare pairing you can come across, I feel like it's a beautiful start to a series because of all the different issues that most don't talk about it's definitely going in the right direction. I also resonated with the last scene alot but from the other perspective on the receiving end being a black woman and in the past interacting with my boyfriend's at the time Asian family, definitely looking forward to the next season xx

Dswizzle90 Hey there, I know what you mean, that's why I said I know she probably didn't mean it that, and don't get me wrong I knew the type of girl she was describing when she said, all I was saying is that the wording could be seen as offensive, when she said it I understood what Janine meant, but also at the same it was one of those cases when you hear something and subconsciously it just doesn't sit well with you, that's all I know she wasn't trying to malicious, but we all know we can all say things and not mean anything by it but it can still offend others, but yes I definitely understand what you're saying x

Janine Oda Well said. It shows a lot of character that you addressed this so gracefully and maturely. No need to worry. You were under the spotlight, and it’s easy to say something that can come off wrong, even when it wasn’t meant that way. I am speaking from embarrassing experience. Oh well, live and learn! @@janinekodaI am new to the show and think that all of you, including the producers and writers are doing a fantastic job, however we as a people are not a monolith. As a people, there is a perspective on how we are viewed that tends to transcend across all social statuses within the Black community. I notice two things that you said: You stated that those who suggested that you are either black or white, or something to that nature were ignorant and you referred to the Black community as "they", which could imply that mixed or not, the black community does not apply to you. Unless I am incorrect, those who would suggest choosing between Black or white are usually Black people and to call them ignorant suggest to me that you are either tired of the topic or refuse to see the bigger picture. We as a people are always marginalized and are subjected to the brunt of all racial stereotypes that are on display by all groups. I believe that like Tiger Woods, the bi-racial will always hide under the mixed category rather being lumped in with all that comes with being Black. Also, I don't qualify to know what it is like to be bi-racial but when I hear that neither sides accepts that person, I find it odd. Before this mixed movement, people like Adam Clayton Powell, Charles Drew, and even Barak Obama, who are obviously mixed had not real problems being accepted in the Black community.

Hi @Wong Fu Productions, some ideas I would wish to see being explored in season 2! :P - asians being "model minority", causing asian to have the highest depression rate due to constantly being compared to "elites"; - Cultural and parental pressure on academic performances, and on pursuing high-paying/prestigious careers (and "disapproval" for creative industries); - intra-asian racial discrimination, i.e. China vs HK/taiwan, developing countries (e.g. indians, filipinos, Vietnamese) vs developed countries (e.g. japanese, koreans, HKeses); - skin colour shamming (within asian cultures) - pale/fair/white considered rich and attractive, dark/tan associated with dirty, poor, uneducated and ugly Thanks again for the great show!

It was a lot to take on and I’m surprised it took the direction it did considering how much you were already trying to tackle, but brilliantly done. I hope to everything a season 2 can come out and you can address even more topics/issues that Asian-Americans face!

"White" European here. I liked the series! I love how Wong Fu tries to show different perspectives and voices to topics. Also think it's nice to get perspectives from other ethnicities like watching this too. Like it's natural to have your own circle. But I'm kinda sad too that it's not more open minded like everyone together. ✌✌😇

I was once on the receiving end of the exact scene where Russ' jealous fit became racially charged comments... I live in Canada where we're known to be diverse and accepting of cultures ... My now husband but boyfriend at the time (who's white), and a bunch of his friends were out at the bars in University when his ex saw us and started screaming on the street "Oh, just get some Chinese food " and other derogatory comments... Encounters like these are hard to forget and they resonate with more people than you think. Thank you for bringing these issues into light... it's more prevalent than we think. They happen in small rural towns and large progressive cities... Good job Wong Fu, keep up the trend of breaking barriers and using your voice to make a difference.

What you guys make is moving the society forward, and it is remembered by everyone watching these videos, it doesn’t matter if someone else got 30million subs in one day because we’re not gonna remember that, these topics that hits the core of American society is what matters now to a lot of people and it’s really awesome how you guys put into the effort to do what no one else does. Much respect

Have people checked out the channel Love Withstanding? A blasian-Asian couple records and discusses their experience dealing with parents who do not approve of their engagement (I think marriage now?). It’s quite in-depth, and the couple approaches this very considerately and maturely despite their frustration.

Being an asian daughter, that scene of the mother/father valuing the son more is so real.. My parents want me home not because they miss me or what not, its because they're scared i can't protect myself, that i'm weak without a family/man, that i'm dependent and useless. Even when i am home, my mom can only talk about how my brothers aren't home etc etc. Cultural gaps between immigrant parents and first gen. kids are definitely hard. To my parents, i'm too american. To my friends, i'm too asian.

Episode 3 is definitely a good one for me. Since I'm South Asian, it is very relatable. I loved the other episodes too, but the third one resonated with me the most. Knowing that the production team might have little knowledge about these different Asian cultures due to the lack of varied Asians on the team, it really means a lot that these topics are touched upon! Keep going with Season 2!!!
