Meet the World's Oldest Hockey Player

Спорт

After almost a century on the ice, the world’s oldest hockey player has no intention of slowing down. Mark Sertich lives in Minnesota and-at 95 years old-plays hockey several times a week in a league consisting mostly of young firefighters. And while he’s been skating for about 85 years and often scores more goals per game than any other player, Sertich insists that he only really got serious about hockey at 80.

  • @ivanantunovic4882

    @ivanantunovic4882

    7 жыл бұрын

    The club couldn't find sponsors large enough to keep up with the rest of the league, since it's based in Croatia, and KHL didn't want a team they can't make profit from. The results were quite good for a team with the smallest budget, but they weren't good enough to make people go and watch the games, thus the attendance fell from 8000 average in last year in EBEL and first year in KHL to 5000 per season in the last year (still more than most teams in Russia). Although I personally don't blame the results but the TV channels which broadcasted all KHL games, you had to be prepaid, so many people didn't have access to them. Unlike EBEL, when fewer games were broadcasted, but on a national TV, where more people could and would watch them and so more sponsors would invest in the club.

    Ivan Antunović The haze has been lifted, thanks. It really is a shame tough. Me and my father drove there regurally for games but alas all good things come to an end. But hey, better EBEL than the Alpine league.

    Thank you for this Great Big Story. I'm a hockey player and a veteran - these are the stories you tell your fellow players when they're down bad, slow during practice, don't have it in themselves - PERSEVEARANCE, GRIT, AND ATTITUDE will help you get it done. It helped the greatest generation liberate Europe from Nazi Germany, and on the ice it will get you through three periods. God Speed Mark Sertich.

    That's fantastic! I have become fully convinced that people live longer when they have something they are passionate about, some sort of hobby/adventure/service. I've seen people retire at relatively young ages (60ish) and then stay home and do nothing for the next decade. They get bored and sick and just waste away, with no purpose or joy to life anymore. I hope I never let this happen to me! I want to be like the people in these videos - 70 and up, and still living life to the fullest!
