Meet the World's Oldest Hockey Player
Спорт
After almost a century on the ice, the world’s oldest hockey player has no intention of slowing down. Mark Sertich lives in Minnesota and-at 95 years old-plays hockey several times a week in a league consisting mostly of young firefighters. And while he’s been skating for about 85 years and often scores more goals per game than any other player, Sertich insists that he only really got serious about hockey at 80.

He's just a legend that nobody can keep down, he really inspired me to get back to hockey
does the hockey keep him alive or does he keep hockey alive, hmmmm? That is the question

Adam Smith it's a 2 way road, he simply strives to play, if he didn't play, hockey would still live but someone younger than him would be the "oldest"

More hockey please!!!!!!!!
I'm 64 playing three days a week with the youngsters (20s-50s) and a couple of other old guys. Great fun! Years ago I was aiming for 70 now going for 80. But I'll keep going to 95 if I can!
Rest in peace to a great man.
That's funny because I've skated at that rink

His grandson (my favorite hockey player) played in my club for 4 years and hasn't missed a single game, never sick nor injured, for 4 years!! Now that I see his grandfather, I'm no longer surprised. btw. the jersey he is wearing in the video is his grandson's, Andy's.

Ivan Antunović What went wrong? Were the results not up to par or did the management screw up?
@ivanantunovic4882
7 жыл бұрын
The club couldn't find sponsors large enough to keep up with the rest of the league, since it's based in Croatia, and KHL didn't want a team they can't make profit from. The results were quite good for a team with the smallest budget, but they weren't good enough to make people go and watch the games, thus the attendance fell from 8000 average in last year in EBEL and first year in KHL to 5000 per season in the last year (still more than most teams in Russia). Although I personally don't blame the results but the TV channels which broadcasted all KHL games, you had to be prepaid, so many people didn't have access to them. Unlike EBEL, when fewer games were broadcasted, but on a national TV, where more people could and would watch them and so more sponsors would invest in the club.

Ivan Antunović The haze has been lifted, thanks. It really is a shame tough. Me and my father drove there regurally for games but alas all good things come to an end. But hey, better EBEL than the Alpine league.
Rest in peace, legend 😔✊
This man is amazing! I hope this channel gets more recognition.
Rest In Peace Mark, you have inspired many💔🤧

That's sad news. When he died, this year?
This is amazing, your amazing, keep playing hockey and keep doing what u do your amazing
Serrrtiiiiiii!!!! Cheers from all the hockey players in Rochester, NY. You're a true hero and inspiration.
Very active person. At 95 you'd think regular people would be at home living normal life as there last few years, but this guy is getting up in the morning stretching sit ups push ups, that alone is amazing, then to play hockey is just insane. It looks like hockey does keep you in shape
2 years later, hope he's still playing hockey!! Fantastic inspirational story. Thank you..
This guy is a legend I’m really happy to see this guy play!! It shows how much passion he has for the game of hockey!! In my opinion he plays like a 20 years old keep up the good work! And last but not least he inspires a lot of 6 years old or younger or older to keep playing you have a lot of life left
rip big man🙏🏼
What a legend!
Just heard the news. Rest In Peace Mark 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Rip today What a great story
This is amazing!!
this is cool. keep it up young fella!
Dude his shot is good
Thank you for this Great Big Story. I'm a hockey player and a veteran - these are the stories you tell your fellow players when they're down bad, slow during practice, don't have it in themselves - PERSEVEARANCE, GRIT, AND ATTITUDE will help you get it done. It helped the greatest generation liberate Europe from Nazi Germany, and on the ice it will get you through three periods. God Speed Mark Sertich.
Awesome story, awesome inspiration!
Good for him 😊
That's fantastic! I have become fully convinced that people live longer when they have something they are passionate about, some sort of hobby/adventure/service. I've seen people retire at relatively young ages (60ish) and then stay home and do nothing for the next decade. They get bored and sick and just waste away, with no purpose or joy to life anymore. I hope I never let this happen to me! I want to be like the people in these videos - 70 and up, and still living life to the fullest!
Holy smokes this dude is awesome
Rest In Peace...
Rest In Peace to this total legend!
Good god just getting up in the morning is a feat at 95..... good going young man.
This is awesome!
this is amazing!!
Masterfully done!
Rest In Peace

Love this video, the guy is so nice and epic
amazing man!
There's a gentleman that plays at least twice a week at our rink in NJ. He's a goalie and has to be at least 70. The younger guys can blow it past him but he does make quite a few surprising saves here and there.
amazing video like always, but is there some weird noise happening within the reds? or is it called digital artifacts or something?
This guy looks incredible for 95. Truly an unbelievable story. Great upload.
R.I.P.
Love this legend. Great mustache by the way.
Playing with those guys is a good time. Mark is a kind man.
I played with Mark in the 80's being from Duluth who hasn't, lol, he's a Hockey Treasure........... what a beautiful soul

This is amazing
This is what you call pure dedication
RIP
This guy is 95 and gets up earlier than most normal people to workout, then play hockey. What an amazing life he's experienced. We all can only hope to be as well off as him if we ever get to that age. Hats off to you sir.
Love this
That is good to see him doing well
This is very inspiring
RIP Mark... have fun in Hockeyheaven
