It actually is an update to the 1st Amendment as a result of the Civil War. "or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof." No Laws have to be broken, just SUPPORTING them in any way disqualifies them. It applies to any current or former member of our Government or our Military at any level. They swore an Oath to Serve and Protect the United States, its Constitution and violated it, how can they POSSIBLY be trusted to not do it again?

None of it makes any sense there is more than ample evidence of malfeasance and corruption on many levels that are not being addressed, Clarence Thomas is compromised on several levels along with his wife who supported the stop the steal campaign, so yeah it's hard to believe that the fix is not in play.

Presumably "aid and comfort" might not be interpreted as what he did. And we are Americans so we always want to be very careful about disqualifying people because that can have a terrible unintended consequence for someone in the future . Personally I think he is a traitor to this country, not an "insurrectionist". Unfortunately most of the people who are in his cult like him *because* of that, not in spite of it. And his followers have already been instructed by Trump -- watch his rallies -- to create a "bloodbath" if he loses and announced that if he loses there will never be another presidential election in this country. So he's calling for "insurrection" right now -- how can Americans stand having a presidential candidate carrying on like a rabid dog like this? Please keep commenting on social media -- it won't cause him to lose a follower but it maight cause someone to get out and vote. Peace.
