Thank you to the staff and students who made this event possible. It helps so much to hear each candidate and their ideas. I also thank the candidates for participating. The questions asked by the moderators were all necessary questions.

This was a great idea! I can only hope all community members watch this prior to the November election in order to make an informed decision on who the best candidates are to become members of the school board.

    1. The issue with getting substitutes: This answer is quite simple if you speak to any of the substitutes... they don't get paid enough and there is no outlook for them to have long term employment with our school district. 2. Budget: There is obviously wasteful spending going on. With a community that is so rapidly growing with new homes, there is a slew of new tax dollars coming into the district yet, we increasingly see our school tax increase. There needs to be more accountability with spending and the impact that increased school taxes is having on residents of the district. 3. When should children learn art, music, foreign languages, etc.: There is only one correct answer to this. As soon as possible. Children take in information the best between the ages of 3 and 12, the longer you wait, the less we solidify the information for them to grow in understanding it, using it and advancing in other academics. Music, art and foreign language make an impact on their advancement in math, science, engineering, literature and more. 4. A curriculum director is a no brainer and shouldn't even be a question in any district. Also, if the guidance counselors did a bit more reaching out to kids early on about their interests, what they want to achieve and what career path they are considering to pursue is imperative. There seems to be a lot of randomness that goes on as far as clubs, interests and academic achievement. Our most pressing concerns are what money is being spent on, fostering progress in modern education, ensuring there will never be a class without a teacher available and being on par with other districts while we maintain being one of the wealthiest districts around. There's more I have to say on it... but I'm afraid we'll likely see very little change moving forward.

While your responses are spot on, and if you had been up there, you would 100% have my vote, until you said it’s unlikely we’ll see any change. Be the change you want to see. If you are not taking action to create change (beyond a comment on Social Media) then your statements are moot.
