“People say I’m unlucky because I’ve had cancer twice and I’ve been hit by a truck. But strangely if it hadn’t come along when it did it would have been a very different story”
From Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland, James Golding hopes the same intense drive and ambition to overcome cancer twice and an extreme road accident will see him through 3000 miles of sleep deprivation and high temperatures in one of the hardest cycling races in the world.

Wow... glad this has helped shed some light on Dads challenge. It’s brutal, anyone doing it has a certain strength, one that’s not always seen but it’s there.
This proves once again that the bicycle is humanity's best invention

You're absolutely right. Your adversity has been your salvation. Glad you got past the situational depression. It can be the real killer. What makes you the most fortunate in my opinion is that you've learned the positive lessons. And you're a fighter. Carry on.

massive respect but I bet he'd do much better with a more aero position on the bike (tri bars?)... a lot of the other top endurance riders in the world use tri bars (Mark Beaumont) and it saves a massive amount of energy.
@jamesgolding-onestepatatim4896
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ethan, thanks for taking the time to comment fella. Tri bars are very much part of the plan. For a number of reasons it's wasn't an option for on this race, plus all other races and challenges I'd never used them. For RAAM I'll have three bikes with us, a Madone, A Madone Speed (with tri set up) and a Speed Concept.
Hi
Cycling deserves more credit than what it's worth. Underpaid athletes who train like crazy and can lose everything in a single crash.
