MEET THE ALTERS 2! | Dissociative Identity Disorder

Alters are part of a psychological defence mechanism formed from childhood trauma and disorganised attachments. They are the hallmark symptom for dissociative identity disorder (DID) and although they are formed from those experiences, we have ensured to simply keep living and have a little fun while we’re at it!
Alters can have different names, gender, beliefs and experiences that make them individual, and although for most cases, most alters are far less “unique” from one another than ours, we still wanted to represent how this disorder looks for us :) (bear it in mind if you were to ever meet someone else with this disorder that their alters may be more subtle than ours!)
Read more about the disorder at: did-research.org or Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors (PODS)

For anyone else struggling to identify them : Jess, 28 - host -> pink and dark blue striped shirt Jamie, 30 - protector -> glasses and yellow sweater Jake, 27 - protector, Jamie's brother -> hair up, black sweater with white stars Ed, 32 - Jamie's husband -> hair bow with skulls Ollie, 17 - Jamie and Ed's son -> dark t-shirt, no makeup I discovered your chanel a few month ago but I still have a hard time identifying everyone, especially because it skips pretty fast between you all... Love your videos btw !

For Ed: gender expression is a social construct and the reason everyone picked you is because you're so fabulous that you exceed the social constructs assigned you by society. 😊

jaxosaurus sex is biological and refers to genitals. gender and the expression of it, is a social construct because it's how a society views how should be and behave someone based on their sex, and therefore, their biological assigned gender. @@miki4251 Gender identity and gender expression are both specific pieces of the larger concept of gender. I wasn't specific enough in my post and jaxosaurus was correct. I was referring to expression as the OP stated "feminine" (expression) rather than "woman" (identity), but it is important to be clear here, because TERFs use the general "gender" to invalidate trans folks by stating that the whole thing is a social construct. While it appears none of us seem to have intended that, I'm glad I had the option of editing my post.

I found your 360 videos before I saw any other ones and honestly it helped me see exactly who each alter was each time you switched. You captured them so well in that video now that I’m seeing this! I’m sure that took a lot of energy but compared to the crazy stuff happening on KZread now this is such an amazingly interesting Chanel to me

Heyo! Im so proud of you and all your alters. Your at a place that i cant even imagine myself getting to and im so proud. Im the same age as jess and struggle with PTSD and DID. I could never begin to explain how proud i am of your progress. (Im not here to start a "pity party", but) I have a hard time accepting my alters and struggle with hating them. Seeing someone embrace and cherish them is so rewarding to me. (I also absolutely love jake) You give me a sense of hope that had faded in me. Thank you.

I’ve watched a bunch of other informative DID channels and yours is the first I have ever seen with that big of and accent range. Absolutely awesome! You guys sure know eachother very well and are all so funny haha I’m glad I found your guises channel!

I can tell you right now that hair decisions are controlled by Ed. He's obsessed with making the body look nice. Once time Jess colored her hair without asking Ed, he was furious, mostly because he thought it was hideous.

Hi there! It's actually been years since I last watched your channel. I recently rediscovered it and checked out this second installment of meet the alters - and oh my goodness, Ollie's grown up! I remember watching Ollie's video (Ollie's Day? something like that) and he was just a smol bean. Nice to re-meet everyone and continue doing what you do! 💙

The way I've understood it, they all age one year in one outside year. Our 14 years old boy (part) had a crush on Ollie when he was 14 too.. after that they have both changed ages, Ollie has grown up and our boy spent some time being 11.. It's weird for us too, because I remember them being both 14 and same kind in a way, but things change.

I recently learned about your channel. My cousin has DID (he was adopted out of a very terrible situation), and he is a rare individual who has an alter who commonly threatens to kill the host, and a delinquent alter who has landed them in jail more than once. Learning that that is not a normal thing is helping me understand, remove my own stigmas and also gives me hope that my cousin could have a bright future. Thank you so much!
