Meet Ron: the 680BHP Hybrid Porsche!! Mr AMG on the New Panamera
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Electric meets V8 in this near 700 BHP Wagon!! Welcome back to RBR and our first ever foray into Porsche, it’s been a long time coming and we deliberately wanted to start here at the most unlikely car to hold a Porsche badge, and then work our way to the original, the 911 with the epic new 992 coming very soon!!
Meet Ron. Want to know why he’s named after Ron Burgundy? Watch the video!
So that the car we start with today, is the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E Hybrid Sport Turismo. Best take a breath before you tackle that one! It’s been described by Porsche’s director of powertrains Arno Bögl as a “918 for the family”, and as the name gives away, it pairs their new V8 with an independant electric drive train.
But you guys know we love to tell a car’s story, and the Panamera like all Porsche has a fun tale to tell. Heard of the 989? Stretched 928? No? Fear not! We will take you through every significant 4 door Porsche have imagined and created leading up to the original Panamera, all the way to the upcoming Porsche Taycan.
This particular car borrows heavily from the Panamera Sport Turismo concept in 2012. This made petrolheads who didn’t like the original very happy, myself included. With much more Porsche DNA, and 911 influence.
A new platform also debuted in the now New Panamera, called the MSB platform, done by Porsche for VAG group.
But rather than being a petrol version like the Panamera Turbo S of old, this is a hybrid car, pairing electric motors and combustion. And thus the car has the Panamera Turbo’s 4.0 V8 producing 542BHP, and between that and the 8 speed PDK gearbox an electric motor producing another 134. All in all that’s 670 BHP, and 850nm going to an all wheel drive system!! The only cars more powerful in the range, are the GT2RS and the 918 hypercar!
But with added weight, how will the car behave with regards to dynamics and power? With the coming of the AMG GT 4 door, where does this Panamera sit in the market? And just how good is the new interior?
In this review we explore:
- History of 4 door Porsche
- First Cayenne
- 989 Concept by Ulrich Bez
- 928 Stretch
- Original Panamera 970
- Sport Turismo Concept
- The new Panamera 971
- The Hybrid Powertrain
- Taycan and the future
- AMG GT 4 door
- Exterior Design
- Interior Design
- Sound check & Exhaust Revs
- Full performance driving impressions
- Electric Mode
- Conclusion

Hope you guys enjoyed the first Porsche video!! 😃 Many more to come, and looking forward to testing a pure petrol version! Where do you think the Panamera sits in the market? Does it need to up its game to match the AMG GT 4 door or does it sit perfectly as an all-rounder? But what I’m most excited about, is the New 992... Coming soon on the channel! 😈

Actually the Sport Response mode is perfect for overtaking vehicles. In North America, to be able to drive comfortably over large expanses of highway and then be able to "Sport Respond" to pour on the power and overtake a pokey-Joe on a mountain pass or a straight prairie road is highly desirable! If I could afford one of these up here in Canada, I can't imagine not using it regularly. Also, I'm not sure if it applies in the case of the Panamera, but with some Porsches if you switch to Sport+ mode, it turns off the sport exhaust; it only activates in Sport mode.

The Porsche Panamera is an executive car and a sports car among luxury saloons. Two contrasting characteristics of the Panamera is of a genuine sports car and the comfort of a luxury saloon. Rethought, realigned Gran Turismo. The name PANAMERA is derived from the Carrera Panamericana race.
Dont change your set up mate keep doing it the way you do it👌🏻

That has to be Autogefühl, except the fact that they don't go much into the history.
It’s kinda crazy when you realise you only have nearly 80k subs. I mean you’re one of the best car reviewers on the platform. You’ll probably get to one mil subs pretty fast after passing 100k though. Seems like most good KZreadrs do that, with the help of the KZread algorithm.

@@RemoveBeforeRace I think too! Also because in terms of content this channel is significantly more informative and professional than many others with more subscribers. The current relatively low number of subscribers in my opinion is due to the 1) format and 2) length of videos. For example, Doug DeMuro's channel has a simpler concept, providing a systematic and quick overview of each aspect of the car in a "product-oriented" way (after all, let's not forget, automobile manufacturers look at us as buyers rather than people), and he adds little but systematic and personal touches: arms always open in each video preview, every video starts with "This...", the "dougscore", and so on. This recipe personally leads me to watch DeMuro's videos even when I am not that interested in a car. When I watch videos in this channel, on the other hand, videos are more informative, they go more in-depth, and I can feel there is more research behind. However, to watch them, I need to be especially interested in the car. As mentioned in the beginning, I also think videos should not last more than 20 or 25 minutes (this is more general). All that said, I hope this channel will indeed get more subscribers!

Remarkable isn't he?
The first hybrid car was built in the year 1899 by engineer Ferdinand Porsche. Called the System Lohner-Porsche Mixte, it used a gasoline engine to supply power to an electric motor that drove the car's front wheels. The Mixte was well-received, and over 300 were produced.

The set up is incredible. I truly enjoyed how you showed all the car switches to get the better idea of what you are talking about. Just incredible. Keep doing what you're doing man, and I see this channel growing to millions.
Awesome as always Raz. Happy to hear you will be reviewing more Porsches. Love your AMGs but I’m really a Pcar man at heart, am very excited to hear your take on the 992 especially since it’s the first 911 that I am considering buying for myself. As I always say you’re the best in the biz, there’s no car reviewer I look forward to hearing from as much as you. Thanks and looking forward to the next video.
I don’t think many people realise this, but these are some of the most high quality in depth reviews out there. The way Raz presents the video is in a unique, stylish and humorous way making the videos far more interesting than some others out here. So I urge anyone to tell there friends about this channel because you won’t regret it. 🙌🏼

Exceptionally solid review. I'll look forward to the reviews on the rest of the Porsche range.

The Panamera is hot. Especially the Tourismo.
wow thats one amazing video...love the editing
Raz I'm really hoping you're going to get yourself a Porsche Panamera Hybrid, I know that would throw the AMG focus of your channel but I'm loving your Porsche content buddy, keep going!! More please ... I've LOVED all your Porsche reviews & history, brilliant!
great video, i wanted to see this review . nicely explained about all its features.
so cool you are reviewing porsche!! This ome is a beautiful spec
I love u give us the hierarchy fact... Keep up the good job... BAGUS!!
Great Video Raz We all cant wait for the Taycan!!
Now that's what you call an in depth review. The intro with the history part is such a good idea, it puts the car into context. As soon as you said "mushy pedal feel" I thought it could be something to do with regenerative breaking, who knows. The sound is OK for a hybrid but not for a Turbo S as you mentioned. Looking forward to the 992 review.

Thank God I will buy one for myself
Great review. I had a 2017 Panamera 4S V8 Diesel - a rare car as the plug was pulled on these after 12 months so there aren't many on the market, its the same power plant as the SQ7 minus the electric supercharger. As an all rounder it was a very hard car to fault and a major improvement over the first generation car. A car that weighs north of 2 tonnes shouldn't handle and accelerate so well but it did - the comfort levels were incredible as well and the running costs (a solid 36-38mpg) and servicing / tyres were very respectable for a Porsche. Downsides was the huge build up of finger prints on that lovely touch screen and centre console, and it really is like parking the Titanic. Unfortunately I soon realised that it was a little soul-less. I was hoping having the V8 diesel it would deliver both excitement and the economy but it was just a tad stale to own. I traded it in for a 2017 E63s just before Xmas, and while I don't regret the change, I don't regret owning the Porsche either. Also worth considering that almost everything on a Porsche is an optional extra - they are very tight from the factory. Would consider the Turbo S Sport Turismo when I'm finished with the E63 for sure.
Great content. Keep up the good work!
I actually really like the way it sounds, its got a nice deep sound.
Best reviews on KZread, even better than Harris, keep it up
couldn't wait but I still need to wait for 1080p XD

Your content is incredible. Echoing other folks, you deserve many more subs. What are your thoughts on doing a review on the e60 M5. Kinda like a look back in time to see how things have changed and the driver experience we got back then.

Great review Raz as always. You don’t disappoint. Mixed feelings about Ron though. Im resisting typing the full mouthful descriptive you managed so well.l, but I love practical wagon type format vehicles, so guess I need to try and drive one?! I’m thinking that the full petrol V8 Turbo only would be a real drivers car?
Beautiful review, esp. the historical part! Can we have a CLS Shooting Brake video too please?
Wow fantastic review thank you. I'm looking at a possibly getting a turismo 4 in dark blue 🙌👍

I agree, "Hybrid S" is more in line to the nature of the car. ;-)

Excellent production values and general information, your right up With Harry Metcalfe Mr JWW and the excellent Car Guys, nice to see something whilst generic has quirks and genuine like ability something that is often overlooked by newcomers to the burgeoning KZread sector....
The content of this video is simply inspiring, unbelievably professional, and highly understated. Way to step up the content creativity. One should appreciate the full effort that has been put toward this content. One word. INSPIRING.❤️🌎🌹
I like the first Cayenne, in the Turbo spec. It may be the same platform as the Touareg, but the differences are huge.
lovely spec
Ok listen, bring it to Techart, 770hp and another exhaust on it and you're all set! :D
Portland, JAMAICA in the Building !!!
I still find Panamera one of the best and coolest looking European car. And the sound is not bad at all.
Great review
The best review Mr very clear and efisien, i do....i like porsche panamera turbo s e hybrid tourismo, 🇮🇩☮️♥️👍
Good review. The Sport Turismo makes the Panamera something you wouldn't mind seeing in the driveway every morning. The 2nd gen was better than the first by far but in non ST trim its still somewhat homely looking. Which is a shame because the performance is there.
Say what you may with VW, I too have a love/hate relationship with them, however VW has the most impressive line of vehicles under its umbrella of any car company. I would say Porsche is the jewel. Each Porsche model is an overachiever compared to its competitors.
My 94 Honda prelude had 4 wheel steering, I used to think it was so cool.
