You know what. Imma say as someone that hated Philip. Yes, I relate to him. I completely understand wanting to be selfless and stand up for injustice. I'm not ashamed of it anymore, just like Phillip, I accept my feelings for what they are. They are may not be 100% selfless, but they are not 100% selfish either, they're somewhere in between me genuinely wanting to help people and also wanting to be recognized for my accomplishments. And I like it that way, it just means that in the end, I accept myself for who I am and accept my emotions for what they are. Phillip, I know you're not real but...thank you, for helping me see things differently in a time that I needed it most.

I feel like Mars is a better example than Finn. Finn specifically ignored literally everyone's advice on his chosen career path. If anything, the library was a boon for him, in that he got concrete proof that he isn't in fact built different in a way that left him generally unharmed.

I love Philip so so so much. Its why I feel bad everytime I want to make bad jokes at his expense because he’s a genuine badass whose final form (according the artbook) was so cool that PM considered toning it down because it was overshadowing Argalia’s. Just its a weird scenario where the fandom’s perception of the character is completely divergent from what he’s like in universe. Especially because he didn’t even run away the second time of his own volition only to get clowned on which based on how Oswald works mechanically not even the keywords of game’s ui are safe from their influence (nor are your nuggets in the final fight where there’s a page that if it staggers you the nugget permanently joins the opposing side)

Its difficult to accurately enjoy or even understand a character when their precious and limited screentime is just them being ideologically challenged, but Philip is a goat.

Unironically, none of these people have hands, for such a grim reality, all of them fight like RPGs, not like MMA or more... Ruthlessly? 3 hits should really be enough to kill someone irl, if not one. I am just gonna assume that yeah, enhancements, but oof💀 Some of the MMA irl or military soldiers could easily go head to head against a grade 5, or even grade 4.

@@georgelongcoal1117 I mean the unfortunate thing is that the higher grade a Fixer is, the more enhancements they have. Guns are only useful against low grade Fixers, since they aren't superhuman enough to react to bullets yet. But the biggest problem is, the higher a grade is, the stronger a fixer is EXPONENTIALLY. A color could virtually take down an army of grade 1s, a grade 1 could take down a large squad of grade 2s etc but a grade 7 would probably struggle against a group of grade 8s. People can fight so efficiently and for so long because they have cybernetics, drugs, singularity tattoo enhancements etc and loss of limbs or major blood loss doesn't matter because you can just slap on some K-corp product and you're good as new. Everyone has absurd weapons you can't account for or fight easily against like briefcases that explode into bladed weapons, chainsaw swords, whips, laser beams etc so you can't go for precision strikes unless you know exactly how they fight or you're just that much stronger. MMA or soldiers from our world would be torn to shreds by grade 5s or grade 4s who have decent weaponry and enhancements (Philip has a fire sword and is already beyond superhuman 😭)

The receptions before Wedge Office’s, particularly Streetlight Office’s and the Zwei Association’s, should have served as examples for what Oscar was talking about when he was describing why Philip was a liability. Heck, Lulu ended up dragging in some friends on a suicide mission for her vengeance. Also, you misunderstood Dawn Sinclair’s uptie story. He’s saying pretty much the exact same thing, but in his own words. He’s saying that he’ll use his sorrow to stand up as well, this wasn’t something he differed in with Philip.

@@cerealenjoyer7023 its not supposed to be hard. its a deck building and a bit of target priority (but mostly deck building) skill check. very consistent gimmick that limits your emotion lvl gain and dmg. basically it checks if you have enough card draw and light restore to actually get through long fights. and its mandatory to get into SotC unlike realizations

I mean, Megumi is sold as "the best thing sorcery had since Gojo's first fart" and barely knows how to use his own technique, while philip had as much hope put on him as your average Joe and almost ended up reaching EGO if it wasn't by the teleport snatching his resolve from him and running into a distortion back to back.

His problem is (like Gojo said) his mindset, especially right now. He doesn’t want to live (and I see him getting a lot of shade for that from the community), but with how much he’s been going through it recently, it makes perfect sense.

Waxen Pinion. Wooooooooo! As always, I've enjoyed this video, and it actually gave me a lot more insight into Philip. Honestly? Philip is a character I've had a love-hate relationship with, but god, how I wish that he wasn't teleported to the MOST INCONVENIENT PLACE out of all of them, pfft. Like, legitimately, he could've been brought ANYWHERE, yet with his emotions heightened- at a most volatile state?.. He appeared in the 8 o'Clock Circus, and so, it was all broken down, coming to an abrupt, saddened end. I love the city I live in. I love Project Moon and what they do to every character. I love what they did to my boy. God fucking damn it. I might be a bit exhausted, mentally (in a good way) and physically due to reasons, at the very moment, yet I'm glad I watched through this video. Great experience, 10/10 would partial manifest.

I think the city is a quite interesting dystopia not only because the advanced technology but because of how much freedom the people in the city have in a more traditional dystopian setting like Warhammer 40K the governing body was simply choose your job for you and that would be what you do until you die but the city is basically the polar opposite of that you can quite easily chart your own path if you have the will and cunning for it.

The way I see it, the city puts its shackles around you in a more hidden (and perhaps even more insidious way). People walk along the road paved with the illusion of freedom. "If i just have more money, I can do whatever I want", "If i rise through the ranks, I can do whatever I want" "If I joined this group or that group, I'll have what I want" "If I kill that person, I'll have what I want" The whole ecosystem of the city, hell even the outskirts to some extent, is designed to corral people with barely any direct intervention.

Yeah the City is one of the most interesting dystopias I've ever witnessed, since the ruling body of the Head is actually really hands off and lax about things that aren't hyperspecific due to blank reasons (No AI or lookalikes, no powerful guns, pay your damn taxes etc)

I’m really interested in the dawn office Sinclair ID because it shows how different EGO IDs could work in the future.

I think it's important to contrast the crying children with all the pecatulla mobs you find in Limbus. Philip was just weak enough to be unable to withstand the mental onslaught, but strong enough to keep his mind intact even after breaking as a person.

Phillip reminds me quite a lot of megumi from jiujitsu kaisen both of them are young prodigies with immense potential and are very controversial to the fan base. But I think Philip fulfilled more of his potential than megumi and I like him more.

#1 Opp in my ruina playthrough each of his fights (except his first one) took me 3 or more hours of just bashing my head against him until i won. his card art looks p cool though

This video came in the same day i reached the crying child stage, and i really feel for philip my guy can't catch a break 😢

I for one would not repeatedly be running away from fights if I was in Philips shoes, I'd stand right in place, staring down the librarians sunset sword held in hand and body paralyzed with fear and then get turned into a book.

The mental comfort of thinking we do something that will make the world - the other people - look on us kindly. We fear darkness of having to battle through adversities on our own, so we seek to earn it via selflessness. We give up ourselves so others comfort us. But to get up despite knowing that noone will, that was strength we can envy Philip.

I have said even when Philip hate was just the thing to do was that Philip is the best Guest/Antagonist in this game. You get to see everything about this guy. The good, the bad, and the ugly. He's equally frustrating from a players point of view (My friend still wants Passion as a passive). I'll say more about him and my feelings about him when the other video drops. Also I fond it completely fine to use Limbus version since it really just tells us more backgroud lore about him and his attitude since its clear this id is more of the person its mimicing than the sinner themselves. Its trend with the old LOR ids that they tend to be more like the character than the sinner. See also The 2 Molar office id sets and of course Bambooo Hatted Meursault.

Love the Limbus Frey sprite at the end Also... yeah, Philip's arc is absolutely beautiful. He's not coming back like some people may claim... but he tried his damn best and simply got hit by one horrible circumstance after another, even once his efforts seemingly began paying off. Really makes you ask, "what if?" What if things went better for him? What if he _didn't_ run into Oswald and become the Crying Children? *What if he was able to become the strongest version of himself?* These are, sadly, not questions we'll ever have an answer to, but they're ones we'll keep asking. And, honestly, that may just be one sign of what may possibly be a great story.

That Ethical Egoism makes no sense. If you truly did not care about the animals and just wanted to shut them up, I'd be easier to kill, not to drag them out of the mud (which risks staining your precious clothes + taking way more effort than the former action). I'll tell you something: It's possible to be selfless in thoughts and actions, by simply not expecting anything in return. Expectation is the main ingredient to selfish actions, even if outwardly you present them as selfless. Also Ethical Egoists are just tsunderes.

Isn't what Pameli says also kinda "you have already decided you want to blame yourself, humans don't actually care about real cause of something, they just decide on what they want to believe"? In otherwords, its also very indirect way to say "No, you probably weren't the reason they died, but that doesn't matter to you, does it?"

Honestly I never understood people hating Philip, I actually had no idea running away from the Library was a choice Angela didn't say anything about it either. He could be taken as little more older Finn albeit he didn't grow up on backstreets possibly Although I will always be on hate train against Hopkins and Kromer (unless we're gonna see a cutscene in N Corp saying how Naguel Und Hammer gets brainwashed otherwise I have no sympathy for her)

If you ever talk about the crying children i would like to point out two lines of the mili song that hit really hard (if i went with you would there be happily ever afters) and (read me a book of me (a hero who knows all (this line is sung by the other singer at the same time which somehow makes it sader) )

True if I was forced to do the same things Phillip did then I would also be fucked. But I am not Phillip and I would probably retire instead of going for revenge, I’m not cut out to be a fixer. Also I don’t care about corpses or books.

I love Philip so much to the point I successfully convinced myself that he IS going to come back in Limbus because of his EGO book being in Library. Honestly I kinda created a headcanon how I want him to return. I don't want to write to much but in short, I want Philip and Xiao to get unbooked and decide to create an office working together on trying to find members of Dawn Office, Wedge Office, Liu Section 2 and Liu Section 1. Considering how similar yet different their stories are I think they would have very interesting character dynemic together.

Sadly while xiao is possible the associations actually know that Philip is the crying children so he kinda has the stigma of a body count of 40000+ people 😅 (for context during the liu reception xiao said that the suspected identity for the crying children is Philip because one of his children actually went to the dawns office building and actually undistorted turning back into Philip who kept crying until he distorted again)

Phillips ego fight is essentially Undyne the Undying, a hard as balls fight where the hero pushes past all limits, goes beyond their limits to give the villain the fight of their life... But its useless... This ISNT the hero's story... It's the villain's, and the villain can lose as much as they want in a story But as hard as a hero can fight, they only need to fall once to lose it all .... or 3 more in Phillip's case...
