I love my stripology ruler, it saves me time and money because it’s the only ruler I need to square blocks and cut my pieces

I have the Stripology XL, and I would not quilt without it. It saves TME (time, money, effort)--it is an investment if you value your time and accuracy. I have experienced shift on it (I'm sure my error), but I always use a weight. I have the mini too (recently purchased).

Have you tried the new Quarter Mini? It has strips every 1/4 ". It's great for those odd size cuts like 3/8" or 7/8".

I just bought a Stripology XL Ruler. I am partially successful but I think I need to find more tutorials for tips and tricks.

Go to GE Designs website. She created these rulers & she has more tutorials plus some free cutting charts that are really helpful.

I have the XL and used it yesterday. Saves time for sure! It’s a learning curve. You need a sharp blade to get through those layers and a flat surface. Use pressure as you cut to get through all those layers to avoid “sawing” your fabric. I have the whole size smaller one but do not have the mini 1/8 increments one thanks for the demo. An investment on a tool is worth it if it saves time 😊 and you can use it more than once is my motto.

Thanks! I totally agree! It was a game changer for me when I first got mine and so worth the investment!

Do you store your stripology ruler vertically or horizontally. Thanks for the tutorial!

I store it in a case with my Sew Steady Table Top so it has something hard and inflexible so it won't bend.

I purchased this cutter and a little disappointed. I do love the weight which is great for someone with arthritis and it is very easy to change the blade. No more wondering which way that spring needs to go. The issue I have is the button to move the blade from closed position to the left or right. It would be easier if was flatten a little on the top.

I have found that can be an issue for some people using this type of rotary cutter. I agree that the blade is easier to change. Have you tried a rotary cutter that has a handle you squeeze to open it? That might be easier for you. Debbie, my partner in the shop with the long nails, loves the squeeze handle best and she has trouble with the rotary cutter I used in this video too.

Can’t decide between the XL or square stripology ruler. Thoughts anyone?

I have all 3 sizes and I use the XL when I have to cut a lot of back ground strips/sashing/borders. I use the Square mainly when cutting from FQ or other small sizes or when cutting smaller quantities of fabric in a quilt. I use the mini for cutting up smaller pieces or odd measurements like 7/8" or 3/8" because it has the 1/8" marking. If you go to GE Designs website (she is the designer of these rulers) she has free downloads of cutting charts that really help you get the most out of the rulers. They are an investment, but are my most used rulers!

I have the XL and the square one. I used the XL ruler yesterday since I need 164 - 5 1/2” squares. I love my ruler and I always seem to forget to pull it out. I think it is a combo of the smaller one in the large one so honestly I would have gotten just the XL one. But make sure you have the space to use it because it is XL. It does take practice and always use a sharp blade. I wish GE Designs would have made it an inch bigger from the top to the bottom because you sometimes don’t cut the edges as demonstrated in this video. Hope that helps

@@andrsn4u455 Thanks! Wow! 164 squares!!! That's when you really appreciate all this ruler can do! I sometimes wish it were 20" tall so I didn't have to fold over the yardage, but that would probably not be easy to cut that far away from myself and still hold the ruler securely. I have a Sew Steady table for my sewing machine and I store my rulers inside the case for it... learned the hard way when one broke in half.
