“You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.” This quote is such a slap on the face.

This quote come from his heart, I love this type of content.
I feel like jo when she first visits laurie, this is a dream. I could sit for hours and hours in a corner. The curled up yellow pages gives more pleasure than the pearly white pages because they have already shared their stories with someone else and you are stroking your hands thorough the same corners, gawping at the same plots, sighing and crying at the same endings.

Haha, that's such a good example to express how it felt for you watching the place with all these books. And wow, that's some way to share and add more details 👏 "they have already shared their stories with someone else" - loved this part 👏 and also the rest of your message!! Thank you 🙏
As a reader I feel so sad that these books are being wasted away like this . This is so beautiful if someone would have helped him to turn it into a structured library thousands could have benefitted including himself earning a small income ❤

So true 👍🏾 When you visit the place you feel both in awe and sad about the state all those books are in. And from what I got to know, he gets little to no financial help and he is also seriously short of physical help. Maintaining a couple of book shelves can be effort taking. There are hundreds of those in the library 🤯 Thanks for the comment 🙏🏾
Idk why but him with all those books sparkled a feeling inside me which i dont think i ever felt. It’s not sadness or despair but rather something which needs to be named as it was experienced never before

Hi, I'm extremely glad that 'KZread' recommended this video. Congratulations on shooting this video and introducing Mr.Ankegowda. Quite a rare find, especially in that region and what an interesting story it would be to understand what got him started in the first place. Would you know if he is willing to sell or solely encourages you to get to see his collection? Thanks. Once again, good work You !!

Thank you for the nice words Shilpa. Glad to see more people getting to know about Mr.Ankegowda and his book collection. The books are for sale. Only now I realized I missed being clear about that in the video. You can go around, pick any book that interests you and take it home. It would indeed be super interesting to sit with him another time and know more. Here is an article through which I first got to know about him: timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/bengaluru/bibliophile-wants-his-pustaka-mane-to-be-a-national-library/articleshow/49888007.cms Appreciate your comment 😃
Such a unique person and such a nice wife he has! I wonder what this place smells like! I love the smell of books! I could go there and forget myself! What a nice video you have made and so generously shared information to help Mr Ankegowda! I too have stopped purchasing books though they are only a little less than 500. One must know when to stop, no?! In my life I have come across very few people with the love of reading..as for me, it is in my blood. Well done!👍👏

Each comment to this video makes me want to revisit the place again. Thanks for watching and bringing me back here 🙏🏾 "I love the smell of books!" You will love the place more then. It's huge and as you move around, you can't help but notice the aura and the odour change. 😄Haha, yes, i can totally imagine you losing yourself in that space. You feel different, like entering into a mysterious yet warming place. A little less than 500? You own more books than I do!(reader's envy) I stopped getting more books sometime last year. But as of now it looks like I am making it up with more frequent book purchases. Even I don't know many people who read but I know a couple who got it from their parents and they have this different personality, an appealing one.

@@broodingbrook 🤩🥰You must go back there, then. One never knows when it may be too late. I used to help at the school library during holidays when the annual counting and accounting of books was done and I never knew when it was time to go home! I used to read only classics, but I started experimenting with new Indian writers and new genre and discovered writers like Shiv Aroor and Rachna Bisht Rawat. It is a beautiful world of books. I wish you happy reading and accumulating wisdom from them and...do go back and visit our dear Mr Ankegowda and his sweet wife🙏 😊

@@grittyscorpio1947 So you and books go way back in time to the school days then. That explains the fond manner in which you talk about books. And I am yet to read any works of Shiv Aroor and Rachna Bisht Rawat. I will check their books. "It is a beautiful world of books." It is indeed. And I am happy that of late I have been managing to read more to my satisfaction. The books I have been discovering have also added to that experience. I will try to visit our Mr Ankegowda and his sweet wife next time I go to Bangalore. I am confident I will get another cup of tea or milk 😄
