I agree with everything Jessica said about Gabby. Two things can be true at once. It’s totally unfair to make up the rules as you go…AND she must post full routines.

She doesn't need to post full routines she needed to send usag video petition for the selection committee to check. But USA gymnastics needs to get it together because Gabby and suni should've been at this camp. I'd want everyone there showcasing as soon as possible

The thing I'm most nervous about in terms of Gabby is if she has those usual 'first com petition back weird errors' and that discounts her from qualifying to Nationals. I would love to see Gabby on the Olympic team but really at least want to see her go to trials. I feel like if she at least gets to trials, it would be a huge motivation for her to aim for LA 2028.

She has two chances to qualify for nationals, American Classic and US Classics. I can never remember which is which because someone stupidly gave them the same name, but they're both nationals qualifiers, and Gabby will be at both unless something happens. The first is in about 3 weeks, the second a month after that.

⁠@@erinm9445It’s both. But you will see more gymnasts going to the American Classics who want to qualify for the team, while for US classic you will see there more members of the national team who just want to see their scores by judges.

The part of Clemson’s team who call themselves Team Zero are the 6 gymnasts who followed Amy Smith from USU plus Lilly Lippeatt, who all arrived on campus a year before they actually started competing. They’ve been calling the current team Team One on all social media, but Team Zero has come up a lot because of the journey they went on to get to Team One. The reason Team Zero was on the leos for the ACC championship meet is that Kielyn McCright designed them and she’s part of Team Zero.

Gabby shouldn't have to be posting anything for us. Gabby sent in videos for the November camp and got invited. She sent in videos to petition to the Winter Cup and got invited. USAG clearly knows where she is in her training and clearly it was good enough to have her compete at Winter Cup. The only reason she wasn't invited to this camp is because petitioning wasn't an OPTION!! What does her posting training videos on instagram have to do with anything??

Yeah. I don't see what public vids have to do with anything at all. Vids to USAG, yes, they need to know where her training is, but we don't.

​@erinm9445 Because nothing ever went wrong containing things to USAG without transparency to the public. 🙄 The process needs to be as clear as possible. Secret routines we don't get to see sets a bad precedent (or harkens back to the previous ones). If you're trying to make a team that represents your country, your country should get to see the work *if you're using it to indicate readiness* and convince the selection committee. She doesn't owe us training videos, but anything she's going to use to win over USAG, she needs to show the public, too.

There should be a way to petition if they make up the rules as they go. Also, it doesn't harm anyone for her to go.

It’s called entitlement. Gymnasts need to know they must earn their spots, nothing is guaranteed to them and they aren’t entitled to anything

@@kelliknight126 This specific camp was a ‘trial’ to get international assignments. You can’t send gymnasts representing the country without people being able to see them perform routines, just because some decided to accept videos only a few can watch. Gabby actually petitioned to go to winter cup and it was accepted. This camp was specifically to decide which gymnasts to send to international competitions. Gabby didn’t deserve to be there since she hasn’t given us a full routine for 8 years.

I stay and watch this video even though being a foreigner where college sports isnt that like developed I find it so hard to visualize or relate to College Gymnastics talk but your enthusiasm is so funnn and good for my soul so i stay and listen 😂

The look on Spencer's face while Jessica did her "will engagement affect the athlete?" was so genuine - like he truly could not believe she had that in her. Hey, I had wondered whether these engagements would affect an athlete. Of course, these are elite athletes who are much more disciplined than I am to not be affected by other excitement.

was gabby not accepted to camp or did she never intend on being there to begin with? has anyone actually confirmed that gabby had plans to be at this camp to qualify for these int'l meets? or are we just going to endlessly point fingers elsewhere and assume and blame the 'criteria' when it wasn't even the plan? gabby's ig post yesterday read to me like she wasn't even ready; 'detailing coming soon' referring to her tumbling pass still needing work. anyway, good luck to all the ladies at camp!

Gabby did say around the time of winter cup that she wanted to be at this camp, and Chellsie said at the time that there was no reason Gabby couldn't still be invited. So someone changed their mind. The most generous interpretation is that Gabby tried to petition to camp and USAG didn't think she was ready, and is publishing the criteria partly as a way to help Gabby save face. Alternately, one party or the other changed their mind.

That tumbling pass is something she’s never competed before so ofc it still needs work that doesn’t mean she had to be excluded from camp .. she did say she wanted to be there she wasn’t invited.

@@SonOfAGun1814 hmmm let’s see the cut off for 2020 medalist but not 2016 medalists could attend this camp OR how Gabby getting sick with COVID= her not being able to compete at winter cup which kept her out of the contention from receiving any invitation to camp. USAG came up with this “criteria” a week ago like make it make sense … If Gabby wasn’t ready they wouldn’t have even accepted her petition to compete at winter cup… So obviously USAG saw where she was at in her training and thought it was good enough for them to even accept her petition in the first place. She’s being excluded.

"What's Gabby's responsibility in this?" Well, the whole point is that USAG should be telling all of the athletes what their responsibility is. I don't really see what posting full routines to the public has to do with anything.

No shade to her but Gabby should've started her comeback similarly to Rio quad, coming in too late has its disadvantages. She still has a shot if she can prove consistency and good scoring potential but since there are no international scores for her since Rio and the judges since Rio has gotten far more severe that without international scores her quest is definitely gonna be difficult.

It's giving very tom forester with Morgan and shilese at last trials. USA Gymnastics get it together. Criteria should be solidified the year prior to an Olympic year.

I agree. I also think that any requirements that they were going to have should have been finalized before the start of the season. It wouldn't have helped Gabby, but it wouldn't be such a bad look. I love Gabby and would love to see her make the team, but it's been 6 years. She has to prove herself. If not in competition then she needs more training videos. The fact that she really hasn't shown anything makes me think that she's not ready.

She's currently in position to qualify with points from the World Cups she's competed. However, there's one more event at the same as Nationals. She has already said she won't go to the WC event if UCLA is still vying for a title, which opens the door for another athlete to pass her on points and get the Olympic individual qualifier spot.

For all the Gabby haters. What is so hard with just wishing her the best of luck. Have any of you ever been an Olympic AA champion or competed in 2 Olympics? Probably not 🫠Please speak facts and at least come off as informed and educated on the sport of gymnastics! Anyone who says she doesn't seem ready or her tumbling pass is " shaky." just shut it on up! And spare us. Over rotating a full in from a front full step out is not a sign of not being ready. You all sound foolish, or I'm assuming you have never done an elite tumbling pass.😂🙄

Most, if not all of the members of the national team can do that pass without needing two spotters and going OOB, lol

It’s like the gymnastics gods are trying to make gabbys comeback so much harder than it should be. I/we just want to watch her compete especially she’s been training for this for two years.stop getting in the way USAG

nah, i call bs on claiming that gymnasts who legitimately are being made to jump through drastically UNFAIR hoops should "prove they want to be there" by doing random shit like posting on IG. that's ridiculous. she should have been invited, period. she was sick with COVID at Winter Cup. like her being unqualified is ridiculous. NOT ONLY is she a victim of USAG's extensive abuse, but she is a GREAT. A. GYMNASTICS. She should have been invited OR they should have allowed a petition process and turned her down if they didn't think she was ready. Either one would be fine, but they need more transparency.

Yeah she was so sick with covid that Monday after the winter cup she had already left EOGA and was training at another gym only to leave it by Wednesday and on Thursday to return to WOGA again and post on IG ‘finally covid free’ 😂 Are you that naive?

Somehow I just don't see California as a championship team. I think all the west coast teams have had more favorable scoring that any other part of the country all season long.

I still have warm fuzzies towards them because I enjoyed watching them in regionals last year. I normally don't mess with NCAA gymnastics because of the 10 shenanigans. I needed new gymnastics to watch while I exercised so I pulled up all the regional footage I could find. I actually thought Cal seemed underrated. My perspective is obviously limited, but I wouldn't object to them doing well.

Come on guys! Gabby deserves to do trials by virtue of being an AA Olympic GOLD medalist. What difference does it make to give her a chance. Same for Suni. Just saying xx

To me it feels like maybe you shouldn't be as chill about how they're treating Gabby as you are but whatever. like, would you say the same things about a Nastia Liukin who was making this kind of *actually plausible* comeback like Gabby is, and was facing these same unnecessary roadblocks? people have this idea that it's okay to make Black women work harder for their success before we intervene and say "F that, she's being made to jump through far too many hoops"... I just can't imagine someone like Nastia or Shawn being put in the same exact positions and people being as okay with it as they are. i'm so tired of shit being unfair and people not being loud enough about it. we've been THROUGH IT in the world of gymnastics. are we really going to go back to quietly accepting these bar-in-hell standards of practice from USAG? ugh
