Everytime I watch it, I tend to cry, not out of sadness but by the emotion it gets you into. Wonderfully made, I love this so so much. Every element of storytelling is used in this movie just perfectly. It's a gem tbh. Brad Pitt definitely looks his best so far in this movie, he won my heart by his performance, never really liked him much before this. Claire OMG knows how to use her eyes and that smile, Anthony perfectly balances everything in between. OMG I love this movie, watch it again guys😭❤️

I bought the DVD and watched it several times. The performances by everyone was so good I am surprised it didn't win an Oscar. However, Brad Pitt in the role of "death" was incredible and what we perceived how death would behave given his lack of being mortal. Of course Anthony Hopkins can do no wrong and excels in being concerned with his presence and still maintain his composure despite chaos which he can't explain the presence of "death." Daughter Susan with her curiosity of meeting a man that later shows ups as death is too intriguing in ways she is drawn to him. What a terrific film. Good Job by a wonderful director and actors.

All I have to say this film was incredible got so much more significance out of it now that Im older. I actually Felt it from what was said and what wasn’t said & from the music. The movie is really surprisingly GOOD!!! If you think that this is another cheesy romantic drama type, then you are just dead wrong...because totally opposite, there was no awkward moment at all, everything was just natural and realistic. I love the blend that they made, it's between art and reality, the world that we live in...GOSH!! So many things in this movie so relate to me, I mean the lesson of life, Anthony Hopkins character's quote really get me everytime I think about it. Sad that movies like this one is extremely rare these days....

Xwolf bane18 Trust me. I just watched it twice and I despise romance movies... this is not cheesy. Its deep and beautiful and isn't just about the couple. It ties in family, a relationship between a father and his daughters. The concept of death is amazing in this movie. Almost mysterious. Brad Pitt usually plays himself but in this one he was flawless and different... Its a long movie but you will love it.

This is surprisingly good? You obviously know EXTREMELY LITTLE, or rather, close to nothing, about films, since you you feel this way about this feature -such a predictable melodramatic story, fulfilled (up to the roof) with pathetic lines, totally boring and redundant scenes which serve no purpose, and numerous other things that make any real film connoisseur feel impatient to get to the end of it, as soon as possible!

I recommend for those on a spiritual journey. what is the purpose of this human experience? do I need to be afraid of dying? what is it to love someone? is value really given by society? what is the purpose of a company? is it ok to be rich? what is it to be a man? the answers are hidden within the film, the key to finding them is meditation

Yes, You said right. What is the purpose of this human experience? The purpose is to love our family, achieve goals, help others who need, and responsibilities to your family members. 2)Do I need to be afraid of dying? I think no,dying to the body only not for our soul,we have to live happily and make others happy at any time before dying. 3)What is it to love someone? Love someone nothing but a making relationship with someone.we love someone who cares you, love you unconditionally, responsibility. 4)is value really given by society? No,Now a days society gave you value only by your money, assets, position not by your Good Heart or behaviour or Goodness. The real value is what you are in your perspective. 5)what is the purpose of a company? I thought that this was it and probably Joe Black is finally with Susan and wait for it to come to us. But she is happily settled and married to her Joe black and I wish her all the best in life and future. Meet Joe black will always be my most cherished movie because the feelings it aroused In me and the emotions that I have attached to this movie can never be duplicated or understood by anyone else . I am grateful to have had touched a perfect love in my life. Knowing the fact that I can reproduce pure emotions for someone gives my great encouragement and a sense of self confidence. Props to the director Martin Brest and the writers for creating an outstanding movie. The storyline I liked, it was creative and had different dynamics that made it interesting. As far as the romance, all I could think was as long as you look like Brad Pitt you can be awkward as hell or cold approach a woman & she’ll think it’s the most attractive thing ever lol. Still a good movie.

***** They never outright explain what happens to him in the movie, but I listened to the final conversation between Joe and William Parrish and I found myself coming to a couple of conclusions. One was since Joe is in essence, the Angel of Death personified, he took William home to "the next place" that was mentioned when he healed the Jamaican woman in the hospital...so perhaps his body did disappear. And because he loved William's daughter, he allowed the body of the man Susan met in the coffee shop to be restored so that Susan would be taken care of after her father died. Although William did say when they were talking "Don't blow smoke up my *** because it would ruin my autopsy. So perhaps the body was there, but since Joe took him home, he was able to die in peace and not be in pain. Either way both Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins did a brilliant job in this movie.
